I haven't had time to read all that's been posted on this thread. So my apology if this has already been brought here.

On GMA this am they were talking about this case. They reported that to date, it has cost tax payers over $800,000 to defend Ms. Arias. :what:

Bet the good people of Arizona are just thrilled about that. :(

fwiw,
fran

thats absolutely disgusting!
if only the jury could be told that, nearly 1million dollars spent on defending someone who is so obviously innocent

As irritating as I find the incessant sidebars, I think Judge Stephens is doing everything in her power to insure Jodi's appeals will fail, and she won't get a do-over.

Oh my word, this Dr. Samuels is almost as bad as JA about coming forth with straight answers to Juan's questions. It's like pulling teeth...:banghead:

I am not caught up so please forgive if someone has posted this . . . . @ about 28:25 the yellow tablet that had been under her or the table (or at least out of sight for a minute or so) magically returns back to the table.

Is this another case of JA thinking she was sneaking one over on people again - while the Dr. is talking about memory (or the lack of it) . . . she is not being overseen by a Deputy behind her near the door (no one is there). and the focus is supposedly off of her. She is hoping everyone is distracted away from her sneaking something (IMO)

Did this happen, by chance, when Donavan called the bailiff over? Thanks.

I think the Deputy is over on the other side, near the jury. She is suppose to have two in case they have to move to the judge's chambers in the back room, right? I believe they are there, we just can't see them. Have to ask Katie or Pasa on that one.

Jodi showed the most emotion, mouthing "No" and shaking her head, when JM asked Samuels about her claim re Travis "climaxing" as he "cut the rope". What rope? The one/s she claimed were tied around her hands and ankles? I wonder what it was about that exchange that riled her, and how it connected to her telling RS she was straddling Travis as he took a pic? I didn't understand exactly what JM was getting at there as he showed RS a pic of her "vaginal area and backside".

JM line of questioning was to point out that the way the good doc's notes read, TA would have been visible in the photo, as TA was supposedly straddling JA. In other words, RS made no effort to corroborate JA's story telling, when he clearly had means to do so.

I remember seeing JA mouth no when watching testimony yesterday. I also seem to recall her mouthing "wow" at one point too...anyone else?

My other thought, since I understand she is the mitigation specialist, is that she might be trying to dress more provocatively to make a contrast to JA's librarian appearance, ie, taking one for the team. Otherwise, it makes no sense to me.

I think jurors will be shocked when she takes the stand, if they're like me and thought she was a DT "go-fer" as I did until this morning.

I had heard she wasn't going to be available. Do you know if there's another witness? Or are we just going to shut down until Monday (after we finish with Samuels, of course)?

I'd assume more cross today and we still have jury questions and re-direct possibly. That should take up today and tomorrow at the pace things are going.

Good morning all :seeya:

I watched this several times, and she appears to slip one of the pencils into the yellow notebook, and then slides the notebook back in front of her. The computer screen that is in front of her obscures our view, but I think the notebook is still on the table in front of her as you can see its black edge.

21:35 is - watch her hand.

I disagree - I think the folder leaves the table for a period of time.
Look at 28:16 she shifts and that is when I think she moved it back to the table.

At 28:26 it is back on the table.

Maybe it's just part of her "mitigating" technique. jmo

Wow! My brother's murderer attacked a guard with a pencil!!:what:

O/T I think I like this new Pope

my first impressions of him are better than benedict,so far i like him but for me no one will ever compare to john paul,he reminded me so much of my grandpa :blushing:

The prosecutor has perforated Samuel's papers. Hole after hole. What are we left with? Common sense tells us a killer will be uptight after his or her act because she could be caught, may have left clues behind, faces punishment. So stress disorder is no revelation. Samuels added to that stress when talking about the perpetrator of a horrendous crime, such as took place in the instant case. The Arias reaction was visible. She relaxed when Samuels reverted to soldiers and policemen.
The diagnosis of dissociative amnesia rests on the psychologist's credulity in tracking our defendent's "consistency". She always forgets the same stretch of time & events. But it would not be a challenge for single-minded killer Arias to repeatedly report zero from here to there. When her life depends on it? That empty zone is protected with absolute determination and no effort is required. There is nothing to relate. It is very odd that Samuels was taken in (unless he was predisposed to afford her trust and thus, biased.)

My husband was a great admirer of John Paul as well. He, like John Paul was, is Polish. I am not Catholic but appreciate him more now after what my husband has told me of him.
