I know Ms Laviolette is on the defense side. We see everything that she is saying applies to JA as we have come to know her. I don't think we will see Ms. Laviolette twisting her answers to fit the defense when JM gets to do his cross. She is not doing this for the money since, I believe she said yesterday she thought she was doing this for no money and was surprised to learn she was getting paid. Furthermore, I do not think she will want to ruin her reputation or all the hard work she has done for victims of DV.

When ALV said she thought she would be consulting for no money, this was much earlier in her career.

I didn't know that, I just had two small grandchildren diagnosed with epilepsy. And just got a call from my daughter, My granddaughter is on life support. The dr's are giving her 20% survival.

Reading here to keep my mind busy.

Oh Katie, that's horrible. let's hold out hope that she rallies.

Yes, but does ALV acknowledge that MEN can be the victims of domestic abuse? Has she spoken with any of them? Has she advocated for and addressed all the victims of false accusations? According to Nancy Grace, ALV was an expert for a woman who murdered her husband. Though likeable and credible, the fact that ALV chose to be a defense expert for JA is a red flag. ALV is in a field that is notoriously biased and politically divisive. Supporting and advocating for victims of domestic abuse is highly admirable... I hope that ALV is unbiased, but I fear her feminist agenda.

I agree ... Especially the false accusations of abuse!!!!!

HLN is reporting the jury is fully 'in' with ALV. They're not taking many notes, but they are giving her their full attention. Good news for Juan! It also helps not to spend 90% of the day in sidebars. The fact that Juan has not objected is a great sign - too bad Ms. Willmott is not allowed to raise objections to her own witness, lol!

She will not be able to talk about Travis so I would assume JM can't either but I'm sure he could present a number of hypotheticals. Anyone on the jury that didn't make the connect before will when JM get's through with his cross. jmo

Abusers could take your car keys or dismantle your car. That part is very true.
But in this case, Travis lent Jodi his car and also sold his car to her without any money down. Jodi hasn't described any situation that I can think of where she wasn't allowed to leave.

I kept wondering that, too. Doesn't JW realize where this testimony is headed? I hope she's not planning to have ALV on the stand for days like Dr. Samuels. The longer he testified, the worse things got for him and the DT. I see the same thing happening with ALV. Juan's already got plenty of ammo, and if JW keeps this up with her witness, JM will have a full arsenal to use against this ridiculous defense strategy. :moo:

At this rate, Juan will not even have to cross-examine ALV. He must be doing mental somersaults!

Maybe she's trying to keep the jury from figuring out that the blue stands for supporting Travis. If she wears it, then they may think it's for something else.

I still have a funny feeling that JA's mother and aunt do want her to be found guilty; therefore, it could actually be in support of Travis.

This is the most boring testimony yet. It's not relevant, all the 'folks' she's treated over the years are not the defendants in a trial she's testifying in today. It's like the defense team took her book, & grasped to find the most tenuous links to identify Jodi as a victim of abuse. Travis once called Jodi's sister dumb so he must have deserved near decapitation!
There's no way this witness didn't research this case before the trial started, there's no evidence Travis is an abuser & she would do well to devote her time to real victims. I find myself becoming enraged by this witness. I feel that she does know better & all this talk about 'people' she's met over the years is muddying the water. I guess she couldn't turn down the publicity or the money & she's ended joining the 'blame the victim' defence. Shame on her
I guess it's because my heart is in it but I don't find her testimony boring. Relevancy is a different matter but I think she's laying a very important framework the jury will glean a lot of insight from. They've already called her out on being controlling and that is the primary, red glaring neon sign, of abuse.

I think in the long run it'll help the State's case. (And I'm actually kinda surprised myself because I was expecting her testimony to be a lot worse than generalities found in almost all abusive relationships.)

I like this witness, and she definitely knows what she's talking about in terms of all the various forms of abuse. I am really eager to hear how she relates this to Travis and Jodi. I would be surprised if she makes a flat out conclusion that Travis was an abuser -- maybe she'll couch it as Travis having more power in the relationship and Jodi's perception. A lot of what she will be relying on will be what Jodi has relayed to her, but there are other pieces of evidence besides Jodi's word that she can point to as well.

For example, Travis not wanting Jodi to spend time at Rachel's, Travis joking about why Jodi would want to spend time with her family, telling her not to write things in her journal, the names Travis called her and ultimately telling her she's the worst thing that ever happened to her, Travis getting mad at her for hanging out with John "*advertiser censored*" because he was not in the church, etc. Those are all things that can be found in her journals or in the text messages between Travis and Jodi.

And I hate to say it, but those behaviors of Travis' are unhealthy behaviors and are not appropriate in a romantic relationship. Obviously, the healthy thing to do would be for Travis to leave the relationship if he was unhappy with Jodi's behaviors. Travis did have more power in the relationship, but that does not mean he was abusive -- especially in this situation because Jodi was constantly doing the passive aggressive stuff to hurt Travis and sabotage his life.

I'm not particularly worried because there are so many behaviors of Jodi's that Juan can ask her about that clearly fall within her continuum. And besides that, there's nothing that remotely would cause Jodi to fear for her life when she murdered Travis.

I seem to recall the cat dying, maybe I'm wrong.

According to the person telling this story, the cat spent two weeks in a room with no one checking on it. JA said she left food and water for it so thought that was fine. She also said the cat was shaking when she (or the owner) went to get it. JA couldn't seem to figure out why the cat would be in such bad shape. :what:
The cat didn't die, not then anyway.

ETA: perhaps cat was shaking like a chihuahua

JW will be foot stomping, begging for side bars, tons of speaking objections and huffing big time once JM gets up there.

It should be fun to watch since she did this to herself and her murdering client.

Ha! I just caught Jodi's darting eyes on HLN while AL talking about DV victims feeling extreme isolation.

It's creepy...as if she's trying to telepathically communicate to the jury, "Look at me...look at me...I'm the victim!"

SO according the the paid shill of the day, every damn one of us is abused or an abuser.

Bunch of worthless anecdotes, don't we have asomeone on trial here?

How about some facts relevant to the slaughter of a nice man by some psycho liar. Who honed her slaughter skills on a family pet.

I have a question and am not sure where to put it. I will ask here and maybe you can direct me to the right thread. I was thinking of the little boys underwear that Travis made Jodi wear. I keep thinking about Cameron Diaz in the boy underwear when she was in Charlies Angels. I am sure alot of men thought that was sexy, but has that ever been discussed as that is why he wanted her to wear them, if he ever did. I do not believe much of what she says. I have a hard time believing her saying Travis was masterbating to young boys pictures when none were found in his house or computer. Thanks.

You are in my thoughts.

I'll bet JA didn't just kick animals around. I'll bet when no one was looking she would pinch, hit, kick her siblings too.
