When JA is convicted of murder (yes, WHEN!), will Travis' family be able to sue anyone for defamation of character? JA, the defense, experts etc? They have dragged poor Travis' name through the mud, accusing him of some of the most heinous things - all to protect a murderer - without a lick of truth or proof to the accusations. I don't see how the trial could end and nobody has to pay for that.

My understanding is experts testifying in trial cannot be sued over their testimony- ever.

People would never testify if that were the case.

Unfortunately, anyone can say just about anything they want, unless they treaten harm. I have seen horrible things all over the internet about victim's and their families! I have been a victim of this also, and I didn't throw a towel into the fight, it was brought to me based on my husband being a victim of a violent crime!
When ALV threw her hat in the ring, she could not be dumb enough to think that there would not be a backlash! She had to have weighed the outcome and believed it was worth it to her!

I'm pretty sure anything said in court during the trial cannot be the subject of a lawsuit.

But I'd prefer to defer to our legal experts.

I understand Frigga, but that was before JA and this is now. What I have seen her (ALV) do is not acceptable. And I think deep down inside she might be now realizing it but it is to late.
Also she knows what manipulation is being an advocate of domestic abuse. In other words she is well aware of what she is doing and has done during this trial.
Of course this is my opinion and I will stand by it.
I feel so bad for Travis's surviving family and friends to have to watch this.:moo:

As an Expert Witness surely ALV could at least admit there are two sides to an argument. She will stubbornly only see things from the defendant's perspective. As the Prosecutor has said many times, her 'fall back' position is always with the defendant. That is a big factor in people's frustration with her.

Even at a very late stage she could have shown signs of impartiality and come out with an element of honour. JM has given her countless opportunities to concede that some positions could be looked at from TA's perspective, yet she won't.

On occasions she deflected questions over sex, stalking etc, saying, "I was hired to give my opinion on domestic violence. I'm not an expert on anything else." But there is overlap and it's all connected. She set herself up as an expert, and an intelligent Prosecutor poked holes in her case. What is more important, her reputation and career, or the outcome for the defendant.

The jury will effectively decide that.
