Gosh, and MOO, but she LOOKS an awful lot like JA. In a prettier, less creepy way.....but facial features, coloring...... Yeah.

That was the very first thing I noticed this evening when I turned on HLN...not immediately realizing who it was. This is priceless!

JW's questioning regarding Dr. DeMarte not even being born in 1980 (or were you?) in comparison with what ALV was doing. Another one of the demeaning remarks at the witness' age.

I agree with Denine. Jodi is a Psychopath.

The word "psychopathy" is a joining of the Greek words psyche ψυχή (mind, mental) and pathos πάθος (suffering, feeling).[5] The first documented use is from 1847 in Germany as psychopatisch,[6] and the noun psychopath has been traced to 1885.[7]

In medicine, patho- has long had a specific meaning of disease. Thus pathology has meant the study of disease since 1610, and psychopathology the study of mental disorder since 1847. A sense of "worthy to be a subject of pathology, morbid, excessive" is attested from 1845,[8] including the phrase pathological liar from 1891 in the medical literature.

Psychosis was also used in Germany from 1841, including in a general sense of any mental derangement. The suffix -ωσις (-osis) meant in this case "abnormal condition". This term or its adjective psychotic would come to refer specifically to mental states or disorders characterized by hallucinations, delusions or being in some other sense out of touch with reality.[9]

The term psychopathy initially had a very general meaning too, referring to all sorts of mental disorders. Some medical dictionaries still define it in the narrow and broad sense, for example MedlinePlus from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.[10] Others, such as Stedman's Medical Dictionary, define it only as an outdated term for an antisocial type of personality disorder.[11]

The slang psycho has been traced to 1936 as a shortening of the adjective psychopathic, and from 1942 as a shortening of the noun psychopath,[12] and it can also be short for psychotic.[13]

The label psychopath has been described as strangely nonspecific but probably persisting because it indicates that the source of behavior lies in the psyche rather than in the situation. The media usually uses the term to designate any criminal whose offenses are particularly abhorrent and unnatural, but that is not its original or general psychiatric meaning.[14] In the alternative term sociopath, socio has been common in compound words since around 1880, referring to social or society.[15]

Hi All, I am an attorney (not yet verified by Websleuths). I watched JW's cross today and I am underwhelmed. I guess the point that JW is trying to make is that Dr. D. is inexperienced... but JW is falling short and the result is that Dr. D. simply is getting more opportunities to expound on her experience and education. Notice that JW seems to be asking questions that allow the witness to talk, rather than "directing" the testimony as Juan does on cross.

Whether you like Juan's style or not, from an attorney's standpoint, he is phenomenal at controlling a witness on cross. Cross-exam is a very tough skill that many attorneys will never perfect in their careers, but Juan does it. He also seems to have a slight or partial photographic memory. His ability to recall dates, specific phrases, specific incidents, previous testimony, etc is incredible and rare.

The big problem for the defense is that dr Demarte gave a fully battery of psyc testing in a professional and unbiased manner...She also had them computer scored so no numeric errors.....Dr S and ALV drove me bat--- crazy because they were unscientific and overly attached to JA...They sounded like fools!!!! I hope DeMarte can address their unprofessionalism during an answer to JW....... I don't think JW will scare our witness at all---she was A A STAR VB player At UMASS---she don't scare easy!!!

I will be curious to see if JW drops the CV angle and gets into the meat of the case. I don't think she is going to get anywhere with trying to beast this witness up with anything in her CV. JMO

She'll want to save face so she'll come out swinging tomorrow but the bat she's clutching is made of marshmallows.

I wished Dr. D had differentiated more the difference between an evaluator v. therapist, because JW scored a few points imo when DD answered that she didn't feel compassion for the abused children since she was there to evaluate them. At least that's what I think she said, though I hope I'm wrong.

She didn't say that. Dr. D said she could feel compassion and be unbaised.

The joke is on Willmott! Dr. D was getting experience in different areas while she got her doctorate and before she gained her license. She was teaching as a Graduate Assistant and continuously gaining experience to help her decide what specialty she would want to choose.

JW was an shrill and annoying lawyer who didn't quite understand how qualified Dr. D is on cross & it made her look awful. She wasn't prepared to cross.

You'd expect better wouldn't you? She trains trial lawyers.

Been reading about a lot of anger with JA ignoring this witness and writing things down and just in her own little world. Why is this a problem? Why is it considered rude?

As long as JA is sits quietly and does not disrupt the proceedings (which is all that is required of a defendant in a courtroom) it doesn't matter whether she pays attention or not. The trial can proceed just fine even if she never makes eye contact with anyone! She's not creating a disturbance, she's not talking out loud and so what if she's sitting there writing away and not looking up. That's not an issue and shouldn't be an issue to anyone.

As long as the trial is moving forward that's the most important factor.

Are you talking about JW's cross?

Who is Denine ?

Just a random thought on today's events: this may sound odd, but Dr D's testimony gave me a darn giddy feeling. I mean, she seriously pulled the curtain back and exposed Jodi's full true nature... called Jodi out in precise measure. Dr D was impressive...

I am not so such there aren't more Axis II Dx (Personality Disorder) for Arias considering all the clinical notes (evidence) and MMPI (7 out 10 clinical Scale > 65). Believe me I have not heard of that in 23 years in practice, internship and/or have the class in Testing and Assessment (yuck).

I have feeling the Dx did not apply to the DT direct testimony and/or managed to get the "other one we all well know" out because of being possibly too prejudicial.

Professional analysis and JMHO / :twocents:

I think you said something very insightful there, but I don't understand what. Could you dumb it down a little please. TIA

Gosh, and MOO, but she LOOKS an awful lot like JA. In a prettier, less creepy way.....but facial features, coloring...... Yeah.

It this an "all brunettes look alike" sort of thing because I sure don't see any resemblance beyond skin and hair color.

Jodi has mestizo facial features, in particular her eyes, whereas Janine just looks like an Anglo-Saxon. Her face is long (Anglo/Nordic feature) and more fleshy than Jodi's small, squarish face. Jodi is looking like a female skeletor now.

(I think you mean JW's cross.) :) Great post!! I think that JW tries to either mock Juan or at least tries to turn the tables on him by imitating his style & she falls woefully short. I enjoy watching Juan in action--he seems to be able to visualize several layers of information & use that to keep the witness off guard. He's a master.

I agree with your post EXCEPT you might want to correct the initials, and change JM to JW.
That will be confusing to people because it confused me at first and I agree with your post. LOL

Whatever works.....she is a confessed killer.

HLN got 2mins in then went to a commercial. JW is condescending and coming off as a female puppy. The DT really needs to get a grip. Their entire case, which took 38 days, was torn apart by Dr D in a matter of hours. I hope they take time for quiet reflection tonight and come back tomorrow with a different game plan. Trouble is, I thought ALV would do that and look how that ended. I can't wait till this is in the hands of the Jury. Travis and Justice are so close now.

(Nancy is now talking to the Wedding friend of JA's!)

In the dog show world, those are called "puppy *****es". Not calling anyone
names here AT ALL. Just thought it was an interesting fact some of you might like to know.

Am I just getting too tired or do you have your initials mixed up? JM=Juan Martinez; JW= Jennifer Wilmott

You liked Juan Mrtinez but felt Wilmott came up short, is that what you meant to say?
.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, and WELCOME!

Dr Drew 'Do you agree defence is doing well?' OMG what a joke and now they're saying DD has stage fright .. OK I've got to turn HLN off.
