As well as paying cash and leaving no bank trail, filling all three gas cans in SLC means she needed and used all three cans of gas to get through Arizona - that's why the third one being filled in SLC is as important as it was being filled in Pasadena, I believe.

I agree. And I think the only reason she didn't use cash was because she had no cash.

I must say, it's really hard to hear Nurmi question witnesses. It's like this super slooooooowwwwwwwww drawn out process that leads you nowhere. You wait and you listen and think about where he could possibly be going, just to realize he "has no further questions".

After Deana destroyed a big part of their defense by saying that the horrible thing Travis did that the Hughes mentioned in the email was not being ready for marriage, it seemed to make Nurmi mad and that's when he went to the graphic inappropriate questions. He apologized earlier about having to ask if they were having sex, but then he goes to the X-rated questions over and over and over with no problems after things aren't going his way.

If I could never see him do his creepy smile again it would be nice.

ITA. He starts out trying to seem all apologetic for having to ask any sex questions (with that creepy look on his face) and then goes in for the kill later. That was sickening!
Good for Deana. SHE is a class act, an honest person and a true friend to Travis and his family.

Yes, true, however, she wasn't gonna risk just using cash because she knows there are video cameras at gas stations......she couldn't risk that thus the gas cans so no one could know.
I agree plus she had no cash at that point IMO.

Juror #7 is the young guy we call Paul Rudd right? I didn't like those question for Deanna. They were about the Laws of Chastity and how detailed they were.. They were actually dumb questions IMO? They might want to leave him alone. Jodi and Willmott were definately eyeing one of them though.

It was a total pro-prosecution question! Jodi claims she became Mormon & was in the dark about what sexual activity was OK to do. She claimed she believed Travis telling her that anal was OK. She said that she never heard anything about the Law of Chastity from the male missionaries sent to her home and she never learned about it in church or any writings.

She lied. Deanna said that the Law of Chastity was well known, and discussed often, and outlilned as all sexual behavior was off limits for singles.
:seeya: My thinking is, that the Law of Chastity has been explained so much in the trial that the juror's should have a pretty good idea what they consist of by now.

The questions were asked to Deanna who had just testified that she had broken that rule. I took it as a juror questioning HER actions regarding if she knew how clearly the Law of Chastity was to HER. I don't mind being wrong - I hope I am!

I hate missing testimony. If I could reschedule my lectures, I would! I always feel like I showed up late to a party. All the booze is gone and there's nothing left but pizza crusts. Everybody's buzzed and having a great time and looking at you like, "What a dope for missing such a great party!"

What's up with all the creepy smiling that Nurmi did when he was crossing Deanna? It was sooooo disgusting.

Hello my WS friends!

I posted earlier that his smile looked predatory to me. He looked like the cat that ate the canary. He really seemed to enjoy trying to shock this witness with his vulger cross. Kudos to Deanna because she held up admirably. And I'm thinking that whole fiasco backfired in their faces. This is a jury that is made up of people JUST LIKE US. If we were disgusted, so were they.

Nurmi's abrupt halt to his questioning with both DR and the computer forensic expert was strange. Kind of like he knew it wasn't going anywhere. Going back to that whole Daft Hands video thing was lame, and I think he knew it. They should have passed on cross with that witness.

All in all not a good day for the defense IMO. A good attorney knows how to connect with their audience (the jury). Nurmi does not have that going for him, and neither does Willmott. MOO.

I think the point about her paying in cash was that if she wanted no one to know about her whereabouts or the gas cans she could have paid in cash and never left a trail. Saying that by paying with credit card she left an obvious trail and if she were guilty she would never do that. Jmo

Jodi lied about keeping the 3rd gas can, so this purchase at SLC Tesoro of 3 gas transaction on her credit card is a HUGE BLOW to the defense.

She didn't pay in cash--she used her credit card and filled the car and 3 gas cans at Tesoro! I'm sure Juan will show the gallon amount purchased--it will show that the tank was filled PLUS 15 gallons.

Nurmi was not awake this afternoon--or else he thinks by just saying "cash purchase" the jury will forget all the previous info. Sorry, Nurmi. Only your client is a moron. Not the jury.

Hopefully the jury saw that, sure they did and just as they have seen jodi's smiles of delight when lying and savoring the moment while trying to trash Travis.

I agree. And I think the only reason she didn't use cash was because she had no cash.

The super-buff Tesoro lady (wow - talk about exercise inspiration) testified today that she tried to use her credit card three times at the pump but that the Tesoro "policy" (to avoid theft etc...) is that the pump directs you to complete your transaction inside at the third credit card purchase. Her third attempt to use the card was already "flagged" and declined. Why would she bother using cash at that point?

Lol!!! I'm PANICKING....I'm Panicking!!!! I was already on Time-out once for mentioning something about ALV, which was a totally innocent mistake... Really I didn't know...

(I went back and deleted the website reference out of my original post..hope that's ok)

You should be good to go!!!! :seeya:

I'm not a sappy person by nature and while I feel sympathy for the victims and families in various crime reports, other trials I've watched, and in this trial, I don't get emotional because these are not people I know.

But when the camera went on Samantha and Steven today my tears flowed with theirs. It caught me by surprise and even now I am tearing up just thinking about it. Those of us who have had less than ideal parents still love them and this was the emotional connection that I made with the Alexander family today.

I have to say, after seeing all the pictures on the internet of TA and his family, birthday parties, all the brothers and sisters together, I can't help thinking they were not as bad as the DT makes them out to be. I mean, my parents were grood providers, which meant they both worked a lot, and after looking at the Alexander family photos, it seemed like there was a lot of love there. I am not even sure my parents took as many photos of us. And in those photos, everyone seems clean and well-cared for.

Maybe Travis kind of zeroed a lot on the bad things, which would kind of help him in his motivational speaking. It kind of pumps people up when you can tell a hard luck story and show how far you have come.

I read it totally differently. I think it was a reference to Jodi's story about the Law of Chastity being an enigma cloaked in a riddle.

Don't forget that when JM initially started questioning JA about the Tesoro purchases, she completely denied she had even been in Salt Lake City.

The gas purchases were testified to today. One purchase to fill up rental car 10.6 gallons. then 9.83 to fill the two cans of Darryl's then 5 gallons for the Walmart can. 24 gallons. Turns out she did go inside for one transaction..can only run card twice for fraud protection...

SO even if the car held 13 gallons we still have 11 to account for.
11 gallons won't fit into two 5 gallon cans so there HAD TO BE THREE!

I felt really badly for Deanna today. Heartsick is what I am. I want to send her a card and tell her she was grace under pressure. I am proud of her and I'm sorry for what she had to divulge today. No one should have to do that. Bless you for giving Travis some dignity back and for saying some positive things about his family.

KN, as Maude used to say "God will get you for that..." And JA yours will come sooner rather than later.

I think it was pro prosecution too. Jodi said she didn't learn much about it except for what Travis told her but Deana said that it is taught quite a bit in the church. Just another Jodi lie being called out.

On that crazy HNL show, one of the fake jurors just asked why Travis would have gone downstairs to get a knife, when there were scissors in the butcher block. (to cut the rope) She questions taking a knife to the bedroom instead of scissors....makes no sense. That was a great question.
