V: People with GAD aren't dangerous as such. People with GAD probably shouldn't possess firearms. That makes them dangerous....makes that person at risk of being involved with violent incidents. Unfortunately, persons with GAD are more likely to want to purchase a firearm...

N: You say the anxiety started at 11 months...you never consulted the father?

V: No....but it would have been advantageous to have consulted the father.

When we listen to this cross again, we should take note of the way this doctor sometimes answers in a very high pitched tone, when a particularly tough question is asked. When my teens answered in that high pitched thin voice, they were usually fibbing or hiding something. lol

I don't think it was either, to be honest .. I expect it was more just to do with him moving to somewhere where it was more 'happening' and more convenient for business, etc, etc.

He changes his story to suit his own purposes but as the old saying goes , it takes a liar to have a very good memory.

What's the difference between "the accused" and "the defendant"? I noticed someone referred to OP in court as" the defendant " and they were quickly corrected that he was" the accused "

That he thought there was an intruder and didn't know he was shooting Reeva

Ok - maybe because she is going with a new version of mental disorder so doesn't care if it was self defense or accidental shooting.

Now Nel is saying that OP could not have concealed his GAD at 11 months. Dr V argues it was just a contributing factor.

Nel comes back with: 'You said he was doing well at 17 months though.'

Nel, a MASTER wordsmith, and word sneaker-inner, just said:

So, you agree that the court SHOULD use your report this for sentencing and "merit?"

She said, strongly, "Yes."

In FACT, she has made the specific point several times earlier that the court MAY use it for those purposes.

That he thought there was an intruder and didn't know he was shooting Reeva

Ok - well I guess it is because she is going with a new defense of mental disorder so doesn't care if it was self defense or accidental shooting.

Favourite Nel-ism:- The gown-shrug....usually with specs perched on end of nose.

Dr V: The person suffering from GAD would be angry about losing a relationship.

Nel: You then presuppose there would have been an argument about the relationship?

Dr. V: If there had been an argument a person with GAD would have increased levels of anxiety.
----------------------------

The doctor’s gone off the trail, she is now a prosecution expert witness.
Thanks professional medical ethics!

V: I'm saying that was a factor that contributed to his GAD.

She is now outlining how well OP coped at all his schools from kindergarten to senior.

Nel. you didn't consult the father??

Vos No

Nel. the only biological parent able to give you past history?

Vos, it would have been advantageous but it didn't happen..

Nel. so . it seems there were no problems he wasn't coping with.. as a child??

Vos. its hard to diagnose children.
Nel. it was your evidence that he was suffering this at 17 months.

Vos. no. what I said it would contribute to his general disorder..

nel isn't having it..

Nel. if you say, it started agt 11 months, yet at 17 months he is coping well.

Vos. because children who have bilateral amputation at 11 months, are different to children that haven't had that.

Nel. you made the distinction that it began there.

Vos. I say it is a factor in his general disorder..

Nel. but he functioned??

Vs he was encouraged to be normal. he did well at school, he had friends.. .

Nel. why wuld that contribute to his disorder??? at 14? he wouldn't be able to suppress it though... ??
Vos. his family would have expected him to appear normal. he would be expected to be normal. it would have been quite a stress..

Nel. you say, this person suffered from this disorder, but was able to suppress it....??

Vos.. he has had it for many years.. he did not know before now that he had this disorder, a treatable condition..

Maybe he had a panic attack about what she may have threatened to do, for example call the police. Seems more likely.

I think maybe both...he woke up angry about the doors open. Then woke her up yelling and it escalated, to where he went nutso and she threatened to call the cops...

he could NOT allow that to happen..
