"In the end she passed away because of his wrong-doings and not because he wanted to kill her."

This is Annette Verger's version of Pistorius version. ;)

Now the painful killing of Reeva Steenkamp has been a "wrong-doing", an "incident" an "it", a "circumstance"...there are more exact quotes from 'experts' of this trial...

These euphemisms for killing are entirely how I feel this trial reveals, and this difficult society reveals, the worth of a 'girlfriends' life is basically less than a euphemism and far less than a real punishment.

Verger keeps on saying she is not a legal expert, or a specialist about ammunition, but she feels she can still talk and is hired to delineate the "seriousness" of what will be his sentencing. Though she never met or interviewed the victim's family or loved ones.

Witness again ranting about what Nel is asking.

Lol, Nel just said "Sorry, I don't want to interrupt"

N: You're not answering the question. Very surprised priofessional won't answer. You said you took into account the circumstances of the crime, why won't you answer?

AZ: One has to take into account impact on victims family and accused's......

N: What did you take into account on Deceased family members?

AV: I was limited, not by my own wrongdoing, but by the processes...

I'm still agog that he doesn't want to do cleaning. FFS. Here's one of David Smith's tweets:

Vergeer: In the eyes of the public it may be important to make him do something he does not want to do.

Oscar's attitude: If I'm going to be punished, it's going to be on my terms.

In other words, he just wants to do cushy PR work to rehabilitate his image. That's his idea of a proper punishment.

I'm only following here and on a couple of blogs but this woman sounds like a real piece of work.

N: You took into account his disability, did you take into account he's coped very well?

Witness says it's through hard work and dedication. "Mere fact you cope with disability doesn't mean you're not disabled'

"In the end she passed away because of his wrong-doings and not because he wanted to kill her."

i agree. it is like a slow brainwashing process.
i get the feeling that, over time, it is the op camp's intention to gradually reduce the killing down to something totally insignificant.

AV says all about OP being able to control his environment. If his legs get taken away, and then brings up rape again.

N: I know you want to bring up rape...

Nel asks if she thinks no disabled ppl shld go to prison. She says there are disabled ppl in prison

And witness getting very emotional for Oscar now and what might happen to him in prison: 'You can't glue his legs to him'

Nel saying the stats she used for overcrowding were not correct as she talking about awaiting trial.

Witness goes off and answers what she wants again, something about therapy.

#OscarTrial Vergeer attempts to dismiss criticism of the figures on overcrowding, saying they’re not her stats… BB

IMO: Well that begs the question of why use/quote them in a court of law.

She is worried about prison rape. That Pistorius lack of legs may make him more risk about prison rape.

This is a serious issue, but saying that people who recklessly and negligently killing others, or are disabled person should not be in prison is far more problematic point for this trial than prison reform.

She is making good points about prison reform - which Nel should not let her make. I would for love him to point out that people cannot kill people and SA has one of the highest rates of history of partner crime. The prosecution team was wrong not to have an expert on the amount and psych of partner homicide...and also the horrible South African lack of conviction or sentencing rates. I amazed this has NEVER been discussed in this trial.

She's verging into a politician's territory. It shouldn't be the court's concern about how overcrowded prisons are, that's for governments to sort out.

N: You said therapy only available to sentenced?....why did you use general figures for those stats?

Witness says she used info she was given. And got from the internet.

N: I see.

That "within his framework" terminology was also used previously in testimony by a defence expert. Can't remember if it was Dr Vorster or the cuddly psychotherapist.

.. yes, and we all know what OP's own special framework is, don't we .. and it's totally different to a normal person's framework!

It's been slow all morning for me until about half an hour ago and now it seems much better

We're in Dixon territory now:
