From the way that the lawyer spoke I got that he is giving the interview to clear up most of the speculations about Taylan. JMO

I'm not sure if camera's can catch him. I think they were saying cameras spot him while he is disappearing in the crowd.

What I need to keep reminding myself that camera recordings are usually not that clear, because I keep expecting something like a tv clear video and he might just be on the camera facing the other way for a millisecond.

--By being the oblivious dumb I am, I really can not sense the disagreement tone and puzzled by the snapping that was going on. I really liked the way our discussion were going on in the last few days and learned a lot while talking about the tragic event. I hope we can go back to our smart conversation. We are all different people from different backgrounds and of course we think differently thats the beauty we just need to remember that. We have gone a long way even though we are just a step ahead from where we started. We are just tired at the end of the day and this wacky information flow is not helping. We still learned a lot today and lets hope LE and us can make something out of it, I really don't want this to be a cold case.

Everything seems fine now but I am following from behind today.

Just want to thank you and Yashem for translating all the news coverage. I've tried to learn a little tourist Turkish for my trip and all I can pronounce is Yes, No, Greetings and How Are You? It's a bit of a tongue-twister language.

Is it confirmed they saw some one leaving the scene but he disappeared in the crowds?

I'm confused by this a bit. For one there wouldn't have been any crowds for him to disapear into at the cankurtan camera they last spotted sarai on, and if he was only spotted on the serkeci cam, how do they really know where he came from. Also I don't get how the would know if he was homeless or a junkie just from seeing him on a grainy video. If the did see someone who's to say it wasnt someone sarai knew?

Not picking on you, just posing those thoughts in general.

Thanks a lot for detailed answer:)

It just seems she decided to go away and did it pretty "quickly". I mean I still don't get how her friend could back out the last minute, you have to pay your flight in advance. I doubt you can get the ticket refunded, usually cheap flights don't have such options. At least this is my experience with the airlines I used.
I would think that for a her first big trip outside of the US, she would have planned it a bit more carefully.

But hey I guess not everyone is like me, I like to be VERY well prepared (both financially and about the place) especially when I travel alone.

Unfortunately, I don't think the friend ever planned to go, and likely therefore never booked tickets. I have absolutely zero evidence to support that (except for one lonely statement the friend allegedly made to some tabloid rag along the lines of, "I told her upfront I wouldn't be able to go").

So... :moo:

Amen, Cmac2! No one tell my mom about this, ok? I already get enough static about my solo photography excursions.

Everyone email Cmac2's mom. Just kidding. The first time I went solo and got flack, I was 31 and traveling to London. Just told everyone that I live in a big city and I could just as easily die here as over there-plus at least I'd be having a good time beforehand.

If people stopped doing stuff at the slightest hint of danger-no one would drive a car, ski, or ride a bus.

I have a grisly question. If she were dead for 10 days how could the husband have identified her? Wouldn't she be decomposed? How fast would it take to decompose?

How could be have identified her then?

They said her body has started to decompose, especially the head wound. She had her ID on her and police was sure its her but I guess its a procedure. Other things like scars, birthmarks like tardislass mentioned.

I can't even imagine seeing anyone like that let alone a loved one. Poor guy.

We wonder about similar things Yellow. It was mentioned in the news that the cold temps kept her somewhat preserved.

No wonder the husband looks do bad, that would be truly horrible thing to have to witness.

Why would they even have to have the husband identify her? Nowadays w DNA, etc can't they do a quick test? They had her brother there, why would they even have the husband ID her (they said on news husband IDed her). I guess maybe they wanted it quicker or maybe the husband thought it was his responsibility to ID her.

Just want to thank you and Yashem for translating all the news coverage. I've tried to learn a little tourist Turkish for my trip and all I can pronounce is Yes, No, Greetings and How Are You? It's a bit of a tongue-twister language.

Please would be a good one, and its easy...it actually sounds more German then Turkish its "lutfen" you pronounce it loot fen though
On and thank you that's always useful....it's tessekur ederim or çok teşekkür ederım ( thank. You VERY much)

Haha. Looks like your Turkish vocabulary contains about 6 more words than mine does! :)

Yeah, I agree.

The news of Sarai's death made it to my country as well, I read one article about it. It said she never left NYC before and she went to Amsterdam to photograph graffiti.

Is lutfen spoken like "loot fen(as in pen) or loot fan(as in fan)?

And is goodbye Gule Gule?

Just a bit?? You are lucky. I am confused a lot. I have the same questions. I'll go back and try to find what I've read about he being seen but I don't think that will answer your questions. Maybe they just saw someone running and that was a guess maybe it was a rumor.

Fen not fan

Gule Gule means go smiling, which is a way to say goodbye, but its the person staying that says it to the person leaving.

If your staying you are leaving you say haşçakal

Ç = ch
Ş = sh

It doesn't have to be the husband. Just a family member. I don't know why he did it but it is horrifying anyway.

I think it is a procedure.
I never needed to know about this (thank God) but in all Turkish movie & tv series I've seen a family member goes in. Not the most reliable source... I know.

O/T, but your comment reminded me of a funny story:

When I was 18 and fresh out of high school I decided the best way to fulfill my dream of being an opera singer (no really- opera) would be to blow off college and move to Europe. I knew my parents would kill me before I even had a chance to get to Cleveland, OH let alone Amsterdam if I gave them too much notice, so I sprung it on them at the last second. They were- SERIOUSLY- getting ready to move me into my dorm room, so I was all packed up, when I explained that I wasn't going to college (it's even worse than that- I had a full music scholarship), I was flying out of the Canton, OH Airport to Detroit, and from Detroit to Rotterdam. I had the nerve to ask them to put my boxes- originally meant for my dorm- in storage for me. I Told them not to worry (ha), I'd be fine (innerspersed with a lot of crying, "I AM 18 YEARS OLD! I AM AN ADULT AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME!")... and the rest is history.

I'm back in the states now, I am not an opera singer, I do have a college degree, and a ton of memories, not to mention something to laugh with my parents over (although I think it took them about 15 years to truly forgive me). I have 2 daughters- one of which is 14 years old, and I swear I will do something drastic if my family tells her what I did at 18 prior to her 30th birthday.

You won't believe. I always Güle Güle for both ways. And people laugh. As a child, I had found it quite long to pronounce "Allahaısmarladık" even when pronunced "Alasmaladık".

:)))

I use bye bye.

Believe it was just a theory the police had based on the DNA not matching. They never said any person was seen on camera.

Haha that's great GO you! I was in Belgium, supposed to go to Norway for the winter, but got up there and it was an island off an island off an island (finoy?), anyway I changed my mind about an isolated winter in Norway. Found a couple of other options, ended up on a plane to Istanbul, and didn't tell my parents till I got there!

Gule Gule has always been one of my favorite Turkish words!

I believe she worked part time. Which may or may not have been many hours a week.

And perhaps she was going through a phase. Afterall, she spent her youth raising kids. And needed some time off, to reset herself, despite financial difficulties.

So this trip had therapeutical reasons. She didn't have to do anything, just sat on a bench by the Bosporus and watch ship go by, seagulls fly...
