yep

they let him in

then he is doing bizaire stuff

then they did nothing

then oh my god

he cracked his kids brain out

we better do the lighter thing to avoid why did we not get rid of him and get him help

and here we are

sad

moo

He needed to be imprisoned much longer than 12 months for almost killing his stepson. I feel bad for his ex-wife, living all those years in absolute terror/fear. :(

Sutherland Springs church shooter escaped mental health facility months after attack on wife, child

This sounds like he was not returned to the mental health facility, but escorted to the state line? Am I reading that correctly? If he "escaped" he must have been there under a "hold" of some kind, because if he was voluntary there would be no need to escape - he could just walk out.

So much wrong, so many cracks - I really hope that some legislature will eventually come out of this horrendous tragedy. I wish I had the solution.

The witness informed officers that Kelley “was a danger to himself and others as he had already been caught sneaking firearms onto Holloman Air Force base,” located approximately 100 miles from the bus terminal. The report further states that Kelley “was attempting to carry out death threats” he had made on his military superiors

moo

nah

this is cya stuff

they have to explain how how he got in to whatever people do to get into the job

then imo it is come in that he had vey bizarie behavior stuff religious moo

then they did nothing

then one of there guys is cracking open there childs skull open and god knows what to his wife

we need to bury

we will get him away with least charges not to draw attn

and now ugh oh

he just shot up 50 some people

ugh oh

disgusting

but it is understandable in a crazy way

the guys typically moo in that mode like military dudes male cops etc don't really understand mental illness

the little macho stuff for lack of a better of a word minimize the gravity of the illness

Our society keeps passing the buck. What he needed was a much longer stay in prison with mental help. Not a slap on the wrist and given an opportunity to cause more grief!

Dear x_files,

I certainly agree!

Your post makes me wonder how many reports the Sheriff's office did have on him over the years.

Did he have wealthy relatives that kept criminal charges away? I am not judging, just wondering why he was not in prison a long time ago.

His behaviour was that of a dangerous offender long before he committed this horrid crime.

Re: denial of concealed carry permit. Not sure about Texas, but in Louisiana you are required to attend classes as part of the qualification for that type of permit.

It is required in tx plus a shooting proficiency. In that class he would have been informed in general he didn’t qualify. They go over what prevents you from getting a permit. I doubt they asked who has committed felonies or has been charged with domestic violence and explicitly told him he didn’t but the rules are covered. I believe he knew he couldn’t legally own a weapon, he just didn’t think the rules applied to him.

Sounds like Texas gave him back to LE in New Mexico. No word on what NM did with him...

Kelley was released to police officers from Sunland Park Police Department in New Mexico, located just across the state line. Peak Behavioral Health Services is located a few miles from Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

From the link:
The report filed by the El Paso officers says that the person who reported Mr. Kelley missing from the hospital advised them that he “suffered from mental disorders,” and that he “was attempting to carry out death threats” against “his military chain of command.”

The man “was a danger to himself and others as he had already been caught sneaking firearms onto Holloman Air Force Base,” it added. The police report was published on Tuesday by KPRC, a Houston television station.

I don't have words.

LE won't discuss motive. Still unclear.

He's a freakin nutjob. No motive is needed or matters, imo. His motive was none other than a desire to kill, imo. Again, domestically "triggered" or not, classic mass shooting. Doesn't matter the "reason". Being pissed at MIL and "shooting babies at point blank range", etc don't quite coorelate, moo.

“The pastor did know the man,” said Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt to CNN. “He did know him, but he did not want him at his church ... he just thought (Kelley) was not a good person to be around.”

According to Tackitt, the pastor had one question about Kelley: “How do I run him away from my church?”

The Pastor at our church recently informed someone, I believe by writing, that they are not to come back to our church again.

(I wish he got shot in the balls and suffered excruciating pain.)

I think we need to be able to determine the difference between mental health issues and just plain evil. My ex knew he could eventually get out if he was placed in a mental health facility verses prison. All he had to do is break a window and pretend to eat the glass. He was out within a year. I don't for one minute believe this shooter had mental health issues, he was evil to his core and played the system. IMO he took advantage of the forgiveness and encouragement of church members to gain access to the women in his life. Then when they wouldn't continue to accept his behavior, they became his enemy. All JMO.

Appears he feels anyone who has "wronged" him pays. Typical psychopath. IMO. Waiting for more as I do believe there is a lot more.

Agree. And sorry for what you experienced. I have thought this from the get go. Until something concrete surfaces my mind remains set on this belief. I can only imagine what we dont know. In that small community he would be very well known.

me too

the speed at which she split as we know is atypical

when I learned that -- he was a very scary
person

that told me lots about her fear level

I think moo this is gonna be delusional studff

She probably had a good support team (family/friends) to help her. It's nearly impossible otherwise!

Tillicum, I'm sorry you had to get through it but you did and here you are. I'm glad you're here. Thank you for sharing your story.

Despite being losers and cowards, abusers are tricky and they know how to manipulate people. So I agree, it might look like the person needs mental health care or just to quit drinking, or to find religion, but the problem isn't a mental illness or lapsed faith or being an alcoholic. They use those behaviors or pretend to go along with the system to help them continue to abuse.
