It does sound like the teen determined the body was a little girl by her hair, and without seeing the rest of her body. (I hate typing this stuff.) I have a feeling the child was deceased for no more than 2-3 hours. JMO

"My son started feeling around and said, 'Mom, I think there's a body in there.' And I said, 'No, no, no,'" she said.

"At first, I just thought it was some rubber stuff ... and then I got a closer look, and all I saw was a bag, and I saw some hair sticking out and so, I was like, 'Oh my God. It's a girl!'" John Smith, 18, said. "And that's when I dropped to my knees and just started crying."

Here it is !! She was seen at 2 pm today....

Street where slain child lived reopened in Saginaw; investigators release little info .

The FBI meticulously combed through every inch of the house. Agents removed boxes.

They interviewed neighbors, one of whom told police he last saw the little girl in his front yard around 2 p.m. She was playing with his grandchildren.

By 7:30 p.m., she was discovered dead.

So if she was last seen at 2:00, according to that account--
I would think she must have gone home for dinner?
If not, I would be very alarmed.

I just found this it may be the same article as the one above only from a different source.

The child lives in a home with a brother and sister, and three adults. Police confirm the family was at the Saginaw Police Department Tuesday, meeting with chaplains and victim's assistance coordinators. They've been asked about the timeline of when they last saw their daughter.

Sorry to quote myself, but this is really bothering me.
If she didn't go home for dinner, why wait until 9:15 to look for her?
I'd be freaking out by 5:00.
If she did go home for dinner, then outside again- we're looking at a very small window of time until she was found.

I know some of you have been busy sleuthing out social media pages on the web. You're free to do that, but it has to remain off this board. You can't link to it, so please don't comment about it.

Thanks!

Sorry. I'm confused though. Thought we could paraphrase but not link social media.

There have been virtually no updates overnight, there have been no warnimg bells set of to the community, and they are all left upset, and wondering if a killer is on the loose.

What gives?

Ah probably tyveck jumpsuits. As to not contaminate any evidence. They look like class 100 clean room suits complete with bootys.

Vehicles at her home address?

Yes, at the baby's home.

If she was alive and well at 2 pm , then the stories of decomp must be a mistake, plain and simple. It's been extra mild here as well temperature wise. If this was phoenix and it was 130 outside then I'd give the decomp story a tad of thought because that would accelerate it but it's overall about 20 or more degrees cooler than I can ever remember it being in July.

Perhaps she was hit by a car and driver panicked?

To be fair, they didn't wait till 9:15 to look for her, that's just when she officially became a missing person with LE. Dad was going door to door before that, 8pm is one report we've seen from a neighbor.

I think they waited for her to come home and when she didn't , dad? went out looking for her himself for a bit, checking with neighbors and where she normally was and it was probably 9:15 before he said Ok I'm not going to find her, this is getting late and getting serious, call the police. It's still a tad daylight at that time here or possibly just a few minutes after dark. I would think at dark would be when they realized she should have come home for sure by now ! mooo of course

What I find a little strange, that none of the neighbors seem to know or be friendly with her family. One would hope at least they trusted and were friendly with neighbors to allow her to freely roam.
In my neighborhood there are tons of children that roam and every summer a few are "missing for a bit" As soon as that happens, LE is called and every neighbor starts looking. Only once was a child missing for more than an hour that I'm aware of. Our town has some sort of auto dialer that calls every house with description. Which is very cool... But they tend not to update when the child is found.
Isn't it odd that after dad was knocking on doors... More neighbors didn't help him search??? I find that very odd!

Given the family's alternative situation, I bet they kept to themselves more than some . ;) But I find it encouraging they let the kids go out and play with other kids.

Schmae, it appeared the kids were involved with alot of activities as well, didn't it? Couldn't quote Linda for some reason, but in cases like that the kids aren't often known to alot of neighbors let alone the parents. Everyone is bust with activities as opposed to us back in the day splitting out for hours at a time in the summer.

Not, not in this case am I saying this, but sometimes it's not encouraging the kids to play with others as opposed to kids that want to get away from the house. I see it every single solitary day. When a 10 year old is out back bouncing the basketball two hours before scool starts? I see this. It breaks my heart.

My husband, kids, and I moved into this house just over two years ago. I don't know my neighbors except by sight and probably wouldn't recognize any of them outside of their driveways.

My kids have never just gone out to play. I'd never let them freely walk around the neighborhood.

So I don't think it's so weird that nobody knew them. JMO
