My hunch is Dallas LE is awaiting the full autopsy report before murder charges against DB are filed, though that is just my guess.

"Autopsies usually take two to four hours to perform. Preliminary results can be released within 24 hours, but the full results of an autopsy may take up to six weeks to prepare."

Toxicology takes longer ... I wonder if that is being done as well?

My guess is they would because, aside from the cause of death, there could have been some other situation at play. Even if he was a sound sleeper and it's well-documented, the medical examiner might want to establish that he was indeed in a normal sleep pattern, or that nothing was given to him after he was abducted.

Poor little guy. What he must've gone through.

Or before he was abducted. DB (or someone else. We don't know that he acted alone, only that he was alone in the kid's room). DB doesn't necessarily have to be the one that gave him something, IF he was given something.

In many ways, kids aren’t just smaller versions of adults - this is why pediatricians exist. One area is sleep/sleep patterns: they can be much harder to wake, at least in certain parts of the sleep cycle. Interesting reading below in the context of smoke/fire alarm. Thank you for your post. Not having kids I don't know how they 'work' for lack of a better word. lol All I know is if someone picked me up while sleeping, I'd be not only wide awake, but wide awake kicking, screaming, etc. I wondered why Cash hadn't woken up when picked up and carried but this explains it. Thank you again for posting your info.

In my experience, I know it’s only anecdotal but if I had picked up my kids that way, at that time of day, at that age, they would have been woken up. But that’s my kids, I’m sure others have different experiences.

The family feud over the kidnapping and killing of 4-year-old Cash Gernon has gotten so acrimonious that his parents are now fighting over the funeral.

The boy’s father, Trevor Gernon, who left Cash and his twin Carter with a friend for weeks before the slaying, wants to pay his respects before he turns himself in to police on outstanding drug charges, his sister told The Daily Beast.

“My brother wants to just say goodbye to his son and put him to rest, and this has just been really difficult to figure out,” Ashlee Marcoux said in a phone interview.

The twins' room was away from the rest of the family and the kidnapping happened when everyone was fast asleep. All DB needed to do was get out of the house before anyone heard Cash. Once he was in the garage or outdoors, the family wouldn't have heard him at all. It wasn't necessary for Cash to remain sleeping - but for DB to get out of the house fast, which he did. I am guessing he was out of the house within seconds after we see him step out of the baby-monitor lens.

"Seagroves and her mother, Connie Ward, did not respond to a request for comment. They have told reporters that she was trying to find the kids before the kidnapping, although Marcoux claims Seagroves actually knew where the boys were staying.

“We’ve never really had a great relationship with the biological mom’s side of the family, and this has not made it any better,” Marcoux told The Daily Beast in the family’s first interview since the crime."

I think I believe AM, when she says the bio-mom knew where the boys were staying. It never made sense that she didn't, since he had been dating MS for 2 years. Mom must have been in touch with the boys in that 2 year period.

TX - Cash Gernon, 4, found dead in street w/multiple wounds, Dallas, 15 May 2021 *ARREST*

Do the ramblings of DB while hovering over Cash in the toddler bed remind anyone of song lyrics? I have about zero familiarity with modern music. There is something poetic about his remarks:

yeah, dat was deep
snatched him out his crib
from his own home
now you got to go,
(go) young man

When people become delusional, there is often a basis in what is important or familiar to them: historical figures and events, aliens, religion, fiction or poetry, lyrics. The information becomes garbled, and the benign may take on sinister meanings. JMO

For DB, the word 'crib' certainly has two meanings in every day speech. And it is interesting if he is referring to the 4 year old Cash as 'young man' because he isn't - he is a small child, manchild, boy, little boy, and nowhere near a 'young man.' Is DB repeating something he heard or was said to him? Is DB talking about himself as the 'young man' who got to go?
To me you got to go means someone doesn't want you here, thats how I would take it, with that being said it could be him but it rings of you aren't welcome here so I'm removing you IMO

Her brother may need to figure out that it’s not all about him. Sometimes, for example, the adults need to think of what’s best for the surviving twin. Moo

To me, "you got to go" (since it appears he was talking out loud to himself, and talking himself out of doing it again), means 'I need to get my butt of of here before I'm caught where I don't belong, ESPECIALLY after what happened to the other kid'.

Edited to add: So he knows the difference between right and wrong.

Exactly. CG is the only one that really matters right now, IMO. Seeing Dad at the memorial would be disruptive and upsetting, considering the volatile situation. JMO

It seems that to greater and lesser degrees, all the adults in their lives failed Cash and Carter. Maybe without malice, maybe with, but how these beautiful boys ended up so tossed around, with the ultimate terrible ending for Cash....just no words.

MOM AND DAD! Please, this is not the time to bicker. You can hate and blame each other forever after, but respect your son Cash, and do what you can to make a better future for Carter.

There are really no heroes in this story, are there, except for Ms. Antwainese Square.

MOO.

I don't know ... aren't the other bedrooms in the front of the house? Seems like somebody would have heard something. Although, given the number of people living and/or staying there at any given time I guess they are probably used to random noises of people coming and going.

@BetzC bbm sbm Thanks for your post. Monica S's teen son gave vid tour,* showing how (he says) kidnapper got in & made his way to twin's room.
Agreeing w you. Imo, likely someone inside would have heard something from the break-in, either:
1. Pedestrian door from garage into kitchen kitchen.
Teen son said: Ped. door from garage to house was kicked in or tampered with.
2. Garage's roll-up vehicle door.
Teen son said lock on garage's vehicle door is broken so they chain it to lock it closed. W. what I saw of door's condition, seems likely, opening it would be a loud, squeaky, rattley operation.

Could occupants miss noise from both ped door kick-in/tampering and roll-up vehicle door being opened by kidnapper? Maybe, IDK. my2ct.
