So MAYBE the interrogation specialists got it out of him...

That was why I asked awhile ago where it originally came from that she didn't make it home that day because I figured she had and ex killed her then.

I think some people jumped to the conclusion she never made it home. We never had an official statement that she didn't. People were assuming things to make it fit their theories. JMO.

From Sheriff's office Facebook page.

On Saturday, September 26, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a welfare concern for 37 year old Crystal Seratte McDowell, of the 4000 block of Bay Vista Drive in west Chambers County.

An immediate investigation began into the whereabouts of Crystal and throughout the two weeks of extensive investigation, several persons of interest were identified.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives, along with the Texas Rangers, and Attorney General’s Office Investigators, worked essentially around the clock, and today at 2:45 p.m. Crystal’s body was discovered by Chambers County Detectives and Texas Rangers in a wooded area of west Chambers County. An inquest was ordered by Justice of the Peace Precinct 6 Larry Cryer.

Steven Wayne McDowell, 44, has been arrested, charged with murder, which is a first degree felony, and booked in to the Chambers County Jail with bail to be set by a court of competent jurisdiction.

I would like to give special thanks to District Attorney Cheryl Lieck and her staff for the many hours of legal guidance and support throughout this investigation.

This never gets easier. You never stop hoping deep down that'll turn out okay and that maybe the world and people aren't are scary and terrifying as it looks. Even when everything points to the lost not coming home it's still just as awful when it unfolds. Every. Single. Time.

My guess is there was a week until the cruise so she knew she had to come clean.

She likely told him she was in love with someone else, introducing him to their kids and taking him on the cruise. Perhaps also that she was moving into the townhouse and they would need a new custody arrangement.

All at once sent him over the edge. She still didn't deserve this. Nobody does.

We did have an official statement, the sheriff said that on HLN, when he said the last ping was Park St.

I assumed she didn't. I really thought if she did he would have been arrested sooner. We never heard anything from anyone though to indicate either way.

So sad. Those poor kids :(

I am so sad at this outcome. Deep in our hearts, I think we all suspected as much. But there was a glimmer of hope I had that perhaps she had just taken a breather for a while. These poor darling children, Uncle Jeff, her family, Paul.

Ok, cuz I kept reading where we knew she never made it home but I never saw how we "knew" that. Especially when I later read her real estate briefcase was there.

So....who drove the car to the motel? Or was it a walk back?

I'm wondering if this was a sorta forced release since the PI jumped the gun...He did allude to a confession imo but said more on that later.

Gotta go soak away some of this awful angst that I have with this case. I will catch up in the morning again. So saddened.

Sheriff said she did make it home to see the kids. It seems to me the one and only person that could positively state that fact would be the husband. Sort of seems husband must me providing some details to sheriff

I feel so badly for those poor children!! She did see them the morning before she went missing!! The only positive out of all of this that I can think of is that her body was found quickly and she was not lost in the flood waters somehow, never to be found. Such a sad, tragic case!!

Agreed. In one way it was a blessing they got to see her one last time (which is so heartbreaking in itself) but I'm so hoping they didn't see anything 😔

Nothing is good in this situation but to find her, being her home & bring her killer to justice will help with the pain for all who loved her. So sad.

Was a sister of Crystal ever verified? I'm not sure where that originated from and I have found nothing so far.

But wasnt it in one of the transcripts that LE said she did not make it home? Now I'm wondering if that was on purpose to bait the EX?? -- Although I guess it doesn't matter (& I'm probably mistaken) - LE found her & her killer and now I just pray he confesses and saves her children & family the heartache of a trial.
