How did LE connect Ricky's ex to this crime?

From the owner of the Jeep Cherokee.

A friend had lent the ex-girlfriend a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. That man called police after seeing the Jeep on news reports about Hatcher’s death. He told police he lent the vehicle to the woman. But she told police she had then lent it to Crystal Cortes, 23.

The ex-gf could have already been on a list of possibles, too.

How did LE connect Ricky's ex to this crime?

The owner of the vehicle called LE and said, "Hey, that's my Jeep Cherokee on the news." He told them he'd loaned it to the ex-gf. Ex-gf was contacted, and went down to the police station to be questioned. She said that she'd allowed CC to drive it. They brought CC in, and in her statement she said the ex-gf offered to pay her $500 to drive an unknown male suspect to the garage to commit a robbery.

It's explained in the arrest warrant.

What I should be trying to learn more about is tracking someone using an app. Do I understand correctly that all you need is someone's phone number? If so, scary!

Yep you can track someone address by there phone number its very easy and you don't have to have a iPhone to do it.

I'm thinking Dallas PD knows exactly where she is right now.

The exGF probably hasn't been able to rest too easy. Looks like she's been visiting with LE other than just the first interview.

"On Saturday, the woman was arrested on traffic warrants out of Plano several hours after Cortes’ arrest and after Dallas police obtained a search warrant for her apartment. The woman was released from the Dallas County Jail that night."

This is new info:

No one answered the door at the woman’s apartment Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors said they didn’t know her.

At her family’s home, a young man came outside to get a dog and said his father was at police headquarters at the moment. He said the family didn’t want to speak to reporters.

The ex may think she is going to walk, but if she is the one who borrowed the Jeep and loaned it to CC and CC happened to be right near Kendra's parking spot, at the precise time, it ain't gonna happen. The ex is in very deep doodoo and will not be able to climb out for a very long time, if ever. The ex is the ring leader. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in the interrogation room!!!

Yes and if she was using her Iphone to track Kendra, the LE can track the ex through that very same Iphone.

Turn off locator services/GPS on your phone and they can't track you even if they have your number. The downside is you won't get your local weather or navigation on your phone if you turn those services off. But the upside is no one can track you.

So I can see the problem. I bet she wasn't in the car and is saying its on CC and all she didr is loan her the car for an errand.

No law against tracking somebody.

A good defense attorney has probably been hired by daddy st the police station.
