I've heard that she was shot in the back of the head and I also heard she was shot in front....

Hmm. Interesting. You think the shooter got in the car? My car locks do not disconnect after I speed up to 20 mph. Until I park and open the door. I would think Kendra's Toyota did the same. You think she was parked and opened her door to get out?

Thank you Surfie. Has the MSM ever said if it was a Glock, Ruger, S&W etc? If not, this is so peculiar that the model/make has not been identified.

IMO the clip being left behind (and even the casing for that matter) is a sign of an inexperienced criminal in the heat of the moment flubbing up.
 
I am trying to get onto the Dallas county web sight to see CC's charges. It says I need the case number. Can someone please either post the case numbers or post the charging statute numbers listed from the sight? I want to look up the statutes to see exactly what the charges are.

Someone needs to file a complaint with the Texas Bar Association, because it sounds like he I unable to perform her job as attorney. One of the attorney in our state suffered a brain aneurysm, had surgery and is now in rehab, she is cognitive and can carry a normal conversation. She is having to jump through hoops to,prove that her disability is not of a type that will prevent her from returning to law practice when she is no longer disabled. She is required to jump through the hoops to keep her law license. Bar Association requirements are fairly consistent across the US too.

ETA: anyone in Texas can file a complaint of this type.

My sense is that murderers with unregistered guns aren't concerned about leaving shell casings behind. They don't expect to get caught. The clip, however, may have simply been dropped.

As for how the casing got into the car, that is interesting when you consider that reports from the crime had the witness saying that the hooded figure had words with Kendra Hatcher - I would assume AFTER she got out of the car - and then shot her. The witness and his father also reported that upon returning to the scene they found Kendra lying dead on the ground, backed away, then called police.

There are numerous ways a casing could have gotten into the car, having been ejected from a single shot past Kendra and into her open driver's side door, etc. There could even have been more than one shot, despite reports that Kendra was hit only once. It's likely most of this won't be known until there is a trial. IMO.

Makes me wonder who was driving a dark colored Jeep a few days after the murder when shots were fired at Cortez' house. When did CC return the Jeep to BD and when did BD return the Jeep to the owner. If it's true that LE interviewed Cortez' family this week, that is very very bad. A serious injustice to Kendra!!!

I think the article is misleading - it says police say they don't have enough evidence for a warrant but if you listen to the video - later Rebecca Lopez of WFAA News states that DPD says they will *not* talk about this investigation & that they are diligently working every lead on this case. As for just interviewing Cortes family in the last day or so - IMO - that leads me to believe that police are more focused on Brenda Delgado.

Me, too.....I really hope she doesn't get away with this. I also thought about the same thing.....a dark colored Jeep...hmmm. Not sure if the jeep is still in forensics ?

I now am wondering if the entire shooting at the Cortes home was made up. Oh gee, a dark colored Jeep....
 
Dallas has an absentee District Attorney (link), no digital forensics lab (link), and (apparently) too few homicide detectives (link; see snipped quote from Aug 2015 below).

Dallas Police Association president Ron Pinkston defended [.....], saying she was a relatively new homicide detective working complicated cases without the support of a partner or proper supervision.

“[.....] is a good officer who was still getting to know the system,” he said. “In the past this would not have happened. Officers are so understaffed with cases, they’re overwhelmed.”

He said the association had warned Dallas police department leaders about inadequate staffing, but “it doesn’t seem to be addressed.”

Me too. Perhaps her family will hire their own investigators to get things moving... I'd hope my family would have by now!
 
The DA's office should be ashamed of themselves. This is an embarrassment to our community. This case has weighed so heavy on me, wondering when will justice be served for Kendra. If we as citizens of the community are so concerned about this case, imagine how her close friends and family must feel. I pray that there is movement in this case sooner than later. IMO the ex should have been behind bars a long time ago.
