I've heard that she was shot in the back of the head and I also heard she was shot in front....
BBM: This puts the shooter in the car at some point, either the passenger back seat sitting diagonally with the gun pointed at the back of the driver's head, or the front seat passenger side turned to the left pointing the gun at the driver's head (the casing could have ricocheted off of the inner windshield and down onto the floor). The casing would eject from the shooter's right.
It was probably a .40 caliber pistol. They eject the casings from the side at the top (usually on your right-hand side if you were holding the gun). Popular models are Glock, Ruger and Smith&Wesson. I have a revolver and, yes, it does keep the casing. A .40 caliber would have a "clip" or a "magazine" too. It doesn't make sense to me why the clip/magazine would have been left behind. That's a purposeful thing to do, and there's no real reason to do in the heat of the moment unless it was to reload.

IMO the clip being left behind (and even the casing for that matter) is a sign of an inexperienced criminal in the heat of the moment flubbing up.
News story this evening with some new info from Cortes' family:
Killer at large three weeks after dentist's murder
http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/loca...atcher-crystal-cortes-dallas-police/72703006/
I think the article is misleading - it says police say they don't have enough evidence for a warrant but if you listen to the video - later Rebecca Lopez of WFAA News states that DPD says they will *not* talk about this investigation & that they are diligently working every lead on this case. As for just interviewing Cortes family in the last day or so - IMO - that leads me to believe that police are more focused on Brenda Delgado.
Dallas Police Association president Ron Pinkston defended [.....], saying she was a relatively new homicide detective working complicated cases without the support of a partner or proper supervision.
[.....] is a good officer who was still getting to know the system, he said. In the past this would not have happened. Officers are so understaffed with cases, theyre overwhelmed.
He said the association had warned Dallas police department leaders about inadequate staffing, but it doesnt seem to be addressed.
