Okay, this is one thing I found about the possibility of Jr leading them to the body - not sure if this is what I saw last night or not:

http://www.examiner.com/missing-per...female-body-found-texas-likely-kidnapped-teen
[KAMC’s Stephanie] Berzinski said that rumor has it that he [Salinas] is actually the person who led police to the body was found.

Capt. Stevens said, “We won’t confirm that or discuss what any suspect may or may not have told us or discuss the investigation at all at this time.”

just to add to the confusion they are saying on facebook that the son wasnt her boyfriend but that EE had a crush on him. He lives with his mum, not dad.

Wonder what this said to her mum to make her think she ran off with the son.

I truly do feel for her mum to lose your daughter by someone who is supposedly a close friend.

IMHO, there has to be a reason that the mom believed whatever it was he said. Otherwise, just a statement from out of the blue that 'your daughter ran away with my son' would not have resonated with the mom. At least, I would think not. Otherwise, she would have said from the beginning that this would not happen, she wouldn't do this, etc, etc. MOO

ETA: The mom did tell LE that III was EE's BF:

.....
The detective wrote in his reports that he went to Ennen's house on Jan. 5, but nobody was home. He left his card.
He said Ennen's mother called him back the next day, telling him that the 15-year-old girl could've possibly ran away with her boyfriend, Humberto Salinas III.

Corner of Elm and E. 58th street is what I am thinking. Pretty remote and desolate, but close enough to be probable.

The area they have been searcing in addition to Shallowater is the 5600 block of Elm Street which spans between 56th and 58th street. I'd say you were pretty much dead on with this location!

hi guys....

there seems to be confusion re EE's mum and the police involvement.

someone here said the mum lied and other people are blaming the LE for not thinking she may have been in danger earlier.

now I am confused to the truth of this matter and I am certainly not going to bash either the LE or the mum, but after reading the report or case file from the investigating officer
this is what happened.

she was reported missing.

the le went to her house, mum was not there (this I think was the time she was at the motel)

they left a message for her to contact them.

she got in contact with the LE the next day (or that day since it was earl morn) and told them she could possibly be a runaway with the 19 year old.

On the report it said that they would pursue it at a possible runaway situation and question her friends.

This they did.

and THIS then lead them to interview the evil dad.

so hence the confusion, the mum was the one who said she was a runaway in the first place....when did she say she wasnt???

and why not mention to them re the evil dad.

From what I heard on NG last night, the dad is the one who first suggested she ran away with his son, and the mom said Elizabeth "liked" him, but he was not her boyfriend. Girls often get crushes on older boys, and boys will take advantage of them.
I was curious after reading that Elizabeth had mental problems and was on medication, if she is perhaps enrolled in MHMR. There is a big MHMR center in Lubbock. I am not suggesting she was mentally retarded but just wondering what kind of problems they are referring to.

Wonder why the mother ran out to parking lot, what HS had just said to her and why she hurried if they were long gone, it seems like she thought there was danger.

Wonder why once LE spoke to HS the III they or anyone else didn't establish EE wasn't with HS the III and therefore she definitely had not ran away with HS the III and was still out there purseless cell phone less and coat less after sitting for a very dodgy fellow with a violent criminal background

I really don't think there is a connection... and I'm not sure why. Because I'm also not convinced I know what happened to Hailey. I think maybe it's because this guy knew Beth but we have no reason to believe he knew Hailey. Not that it means anything.

.....

I agree. I think we have more tragic cases of young girls being harmed by someone known to them through the family circle somehow (extending to friends of the family, which is, statistically speaking, not surprising. (See Protecting the Gift by Gavin de Becker). I also think any physical resemblance is just by chance, considering they were both fairly average height with common/average hair color and eye color.

JMHO

I do agree that they should have looked at the security camera footage straight away...my goodness yes..

However they obviously had this down as a runaway because of what mum said. I am not blaming mum either, but obviously both her and the police did not suspect the evil dad.....why did mum also not get suss about it...and we know the answer to that, he and his de facto were good friends of hers and she prob did not think that they could do that to "the girl he thought of as his daughter".

The police should have looked into the last people to see her (as we all know here in ALOT of cases they are the perpetrator.)

To me this child should NOT have been hanging around these people and babysitting alone at the age of 13 in a shady motel.

Elizabeth was 15, not 13.
I'm guessing that police did not think anything happened at the hotel. She went there willingly to babysit, just did not return home. The father told E's mom that she might have run away with his son, so police declared her a runaway. There was no probable cause to get a warrant to view the tapes at that time and they can only go with what is told to them by the family.
Does this hotel have a security guard who regularly views the security tapes? Or do they only look at them if there has been an attempt of robbery or some other crime?

A big clue was when they interviewed HS and he said she was "acting weird" at 1:00 a.m. Well, hello there! She is 15 years old and it is a school night. Of course she is going to be wanting to go home!

True, but the strange and unlikely purse story pre her vanishing, the very violent past of the last person to see her is what would make me think they would look into HS and that the story was a lie, thus leading them to the motel being the last place and to checking the tapes earlier
MOO

The police have already notified the family before the information was made public. This is not a good outcome for any family even if it is not EE or HD.

Something doesn't seem right, VE knew her daughter hadn't run away, she knew she wasn't with HS III as LE had spoken to him. Then on day 1 VE is seen on the video running to the parking lot like that, I wonder why-I wonder what he told her that made her rush out like that.

I'm guessing VE and family believed EE was abducted near her home by a complete stranger - maybe she just initially told the investigator there was a possibility she was with HS III but then they all soon realised that wasn't the case, but still by this stage no one is doubting scary HS?

Yes, and why didn't he take her home right away? I know he said that he didn't want to take the kids out in the cold (his excuse), but who would make a 15-yr-old girl stay an extra 2-3 hrs -- especially when (I assume) you're paying them by the hour, right?

When I used to babysit eons ago, if a parent came home early, I was taken home immediately. And when we have sitters, I can't imagine just hanging with the sitter. Usually they have a life and want to get home, too, kwim?

Nothing about his "story" makes sense. MOO

I don't understand why the video shows the mother hurrying out to the parking lot.
I wish some of these details were released when she first went missing.
If it was suggested that EE ran away with her boyfriend then there should have been a picture of him released to the media and any vehicles associated to him.
This case sounds like a mess from the start.

Like on the day she was reported missing? Maybe not the tapes but check the record of the person she was supposedly last seen with and interview them. Argh!

I respectfully disagree.

I have a 13 year old child that watches Nancy Grace with me every night and has for years. I think it's extremely important that we as parents LEARN from situations from this and TEACH our children HOW NOT TO BE A VICTIM. I'm not suggesting that we scare the crap out of them, I'm taking about empowering them. I've had mine in martial arts since he was 4 years old. Currently he's learning Krav Maga. If there is even a split second to get away, I want him to be able to seize the opportunity and not freeze in fear and become submissive. I want him to be thinking all the time.

That video can save a child's life.

I wish that she had banged on the doors, run done something. I immediately went into my ds (17yos) room after hearing this and he asks "is this about a kid who was raped and murdered?" They know me!! I said yes and you have got to take every opportunity to get away, I don't care what they say you will be dead within an hour anyway. My 9yo in bed heard me, they need to know. My point of telling my 17 yo son, because I know he knows, was so that he could tell his gf who does a lot of babysitting.

I don't think showing the video of this is appropriate though. But it will be shown somewhere I'm sure and will I watch -- yes. I guess as a closure thing, hoping for a different outcome maybe. I don't know. But as I said, this makes me angry.

These scumbags have to be stopped. Something has to be done to protect our children and yes, they need to know that they don't live in a marshmellow kind of world.

Thanks for voicing that. I had a HUGE issue with that part of the story!

Another issue I had with the story is how he doesn't want to take her home, wants to wait on wife to get home so he doesn't have to drag kids out into the cold. Well -- how did he think she was getting home?? Didn't he go and get the wifes dragging the kids along later? I wonder (no sleuthing just wondering) how many kids and the ages. Would seem rather boring in a motel room but - they should have been in bed fairly early as well.

His story doesn't mesh with the video footage, so you can assume that his story is fabricated.

He's only away playing bingo for an hour or so, if I recall correctly. So, his kids were acting up and he had to return or he was just waiting for his GF to leave the hotel before returning back.

If the found body is EE, it will be interesting to see COD. If she was killed Jan 4, he didn't have time to get rid of evidence, unless he did do so before being able to move the body further out.

If it was determined she was assaulted, he's definitely in line for the death penalty in committing a felony while committing a felony.

He left with the wife (or girlfriend) and sister at 6:45 and returned to the motel alone at 10:48 so he was gone somewhere (playing bingo or wherever he went) for almost 4 hours. Arrest warrant attached.
