Hey guys...."Its me again, Margaret..." Another one of those folks who drives you nuts because we ask for brief updates. I just haven't been able to be online today (or yesterday!)...have a sick daughter. She's almost 20 years old but you wouldn't know it!

I caught up last night but now I'm behind again! Thanks for any help you could give a poor old girl who's exhausted!

Hello! here is the main points i've gotten from reading this evening -

SA has been named as a suspect - http://www.ktxs.com/news/26496561/detail.html

Videos and pictures regarding SA are in the media now -
http://bigcountryhomepage.com/fulltext/?nxd_id=331416

A list of things removed from the impounded car -
http://www.ktxs.com/news/26495026/detail.html

Cadaver dogs are being used to search the Abilene landfill after registering a "hit" - Abilene landfill is the landfill where trash from C City has been put since HD has been missing. there is better links for this regarding the hit, this link has video.
http://www.ktxs.com/news/26496786/detail.html

the Abilene landfill has been added to the map but i think that the implication is that if anything is there it will have come from C City not from someone going out there to dump. not that that isnt possible. heres a link to the map that a member has made-
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...0328,-100.867453&spn=0.0642,0.104456&t=h&z=14

these are the main things, discussion is revolving around these. Also clarifying the difference between cadaver HRD and sniffer dogs etc. in the last few pages.

feel free to add anything I've missed people! maybe we could do a little update like this on every 5th page so people can always find the most recent rundown if the threads are moving too fast? (like me - i've been reading since i got in from work and its nearly 11pm now!)

She does not deny being there and withdrawing the money, and also in the affidavit it says she "admitted" to buying illegal narcotics.

BD said she worked until 7 pm so please explain how can she be at the ATM machine at 6:10 pm with SA? TIA

In the Jennifer and Abby Blagg murders in Colorado, Jennifer, the mom, was eventually found in the local landfill, but they never found the little girl, Abby. Hailey is basically the size of a small adult, so hopefully, if she is there they will find her. But in the Blagg case (the husband killed them both) it was quite an elaborate process to determine exactly where to dig in the massive landfill, it was all computerized by sections as to the date of pick, square feet, etc. It still took three-four weeks of searching IIRC to find Jennifer.

LE in Utah credits the help of LE on the Blagg case for helping find Lori Hacking. LE in the Blagg case pretty much wrote the book on successful landfill searches.

belimom, I understand what you are saying. But I believe the reason why sarx is repeatedly trying to make the distinction between 'cadaver' and HRD dogs is because 'cadaver' dogs is a term that has 'aged out' so to speak among professional SAR for a specific reason. The term cadaver leads the general public to think of dogs who are trained to find entire bodies. HRD is a further clarification, which discerns dogs trained to alert to ANYTHING that might indicate remains of a human. Such as bodily fluids, parts, evidence of- etc. Sorry to be graphic, but the distinction is important in court, should a case go to court and involve detection of remains as opposed to a body. Kwim?

ETA: we could start a SAR dog related thread to clear up these things? Then people could just refer to that to understand the specific investigative tools being used?

Thank you both, Oriah and Sarx, for going to such great lengths to clear things up. I do think a thread would be good... :)

BD said she worked until 7 pm so please explain how can she be at the ATM machine at 6:10 pm with SA? TIA

lol, You will have to ask her that. She says in the affidavit and on NG, lol, that she used the ATM. So apparently she got off before 7. I guess her saying she worked 7-7 was another one of those pesky little inconsistencies LE was talking about.

Not sure if it has been asked/mentioned before but I would like to know where SA lived before he moved in with BD.
I call bull-you-know-what on when she says he moved in.
Lets face it, she does not have good judgement so I bet SA was staying at her place a lot earlier than when she says.

Grandma had him placed there when Hailey was 11 -- two years ago -- when she talked about him getting up in the night and wandering around and that she saw his feet in the shadows under her doorway. How scary that must have been for that little girl!

BD said she worked until 7 pm so please explain how can she be at the ATM machine at 6:10 pm with SA? TIA

IMO....It could be...BD gave S her bank card...he made the withdrawal...then picked her up afterward....and she is just saying..they were together when the withdrawal was made.....IMO...it may have been embarressing for her to admit...she turns over her bank card for him to use....without her there...OR...she was unaware he HAD it....OR...he made the withdrawal without her...then went and bought the drugs...then picked her up..........all in my own opinion

I think posters answered that for you this morning? She herself admits to LE she withdrew money. She most likely left work early. MOO.

ETA: starts with post 31 of this thread.

I thought after Jeffery Dahmer, I'd never be shocked again, but I proved myself wrong. There's no telling what all has happened, that has gone unsolved, through the years. People are just sick.

Yes, and I don't think it's new. Just going by stories dating back to biblical times, the Dark Ages, Middle Ages and beyond...there have always been predators, mass murderers, sexual sickos, and the like. I'm sure there are many travesties that have never been uncovered. (Sad to say).

When I was a kid growing up, every mom in the entire neighborhood was a stay at home mom. They knew what their children were doing and they looked out for each others kids. I could be 3 blocks away an overheard using a swear word, by the time I rode my bike home...my mom had heard all about it. I was in trouble.

Recently, I witnessed a child stealing stuff out of another neighbors car, I caught him, yelled at him and told his mom. Know what she said? MIND MY OWN BUISNESS and don't ever raise my voice to her child again. I told her, next time I'd call the police.

My Mom was a stay at home mom and she never knew what we were doing unless an elderly neighbor told on us. As soon as we saw her watching us, we knew we were in trouble. That neighbor was the only one watching us because our parents were not!

A man named as a person of interest in the case of a missing 13-year-old girl from West Texas said Friday that he is not responsible for her disappearance.
Shawn Adkins, 25, told The Associated Press exclusively that he would "never ever do anything to harm Hailey" Dunn, whose mother reported her missing Dec. 28 in Colorado City, a 4,500-resident town about 240 miles west of Dallas. Adkins was then the live-in boyfriend of Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother.
Adkins said he prays daily for Hailey's safe return.

BILLIE DUNN: I know. And I don`t want to get into it any more. I just want to clear things up. We did go to the ATM, and the reason there was two withdrawals is because I didn`t know how much money I had in there. I know we were broke. We pulled money out for gas, food, whatever. We did go to the north side of town for maybe 15 minutes just to stop by my mom`s house. And she lives on the north side of Snyder. And we came straight home.

I'll take a minute to mentally thank all those men and women down there searching by hand for Hailey.

If they dont' find her, they still have to sift through by hand tons of biohazardous material and smell it too.

If they do find her, bless them. That can't ever be easy for any of them no matter how much training they have.

Im behind another thread or two after catching up yesterday but just wanted to say:
Last night on NG when Billie said "Why didnt someone tell me this" referring to Hailey's fear of SA....

I dont understand that statement by her

How many little 13 year old girls who have been threaten by a 26 year old male with harm would not be afraid??? Why would BD need someone to tell her that?

Then to continue to allow this person in the home ...Billie is a grown up and can make that choice but to take that chance with her daughter is why we are where we are today.....
When Billie says that Hailey must be respectful to him even if she didnt like him...was this after the threaten incident or before or more recently?
If Hailey felt she needed to run away also she have plenty of family to go to I dont see her doing that even if SA was a factor for wanting to...

JMO

BBM.

When I heard that last night, I had a feeling that Hailey probably DID tell her -- and that she chose to ignore it because she was choosing SA over her parental responsibilities. She knew that Hailey didn't like him and was uncomfortable with him. I would not be surprised if CD and the grandmom HAD told her. She chose to live in her little fantasy world (in more ways than one, unfortunately). She is really adept (I was going to say she was good at it -- but she's not -- folks see right through her) at playing the victim and always being surprised by any information that has been revealed -- as if it is the first she has heard of it.

This was not news to her. Her daughter probably had said that he gave her the creeps and made her feel uncomfortable. In BD's little fantasy world, she CHOSE to ignore those signs.

One of the things that I found really telling early on to the fact that she really knew that Hailey was not comfortable with SA was the statement she made one of the first nights on NG about, "She didn't like him at first...but now she can ask him for $10." Like that is a sign of closeness? I have students at our school who don't even know me who ask to borrow money. It's not a sign of closeness or of being comfortable with someone. It's a sign of a kid needing money and mom probably wasn't around, so she had to turn to the one who was there.

I have been divorced and remarried and a sign of closeness is when the kids ask the stepdad to join in with them when they are playing something...or if they are excited to show him something that they did at school about which they are proudly beaming...or if they are in on the 'secret' at Christmastime of shopping for mom's gift together and helping one another to come up with ideas to pick it out...or asking him to be her escort to stand in in place of dad who lives far away at school events when she is getting awards . That's being close...not asking to borrow $10.

<modsnip> No sympathy here. Not now...not ever.
