TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Galveston County Medical Examiner says it believes a child's body found in Texas City on Wednesday belongs to missing 2-year-old Hazana Anderson.

The medical examiner said it completed an autopsy Friday morning on the body found in waters along Highway 146. They are now awaiting conclusive DNA results to confirm who this child was.

According to investigators, Christon and Hewett were staying in a hotel room in Houston, Texas on the night of October 19 when they became frustrated because Hazana was crying. The couple took turns beating Hazana with a belt until they realized she was unresponsive.

Records say they were unable to revive Hazana and kept her body in the floorboard of their car for three days before wrapping her body in a garbage bag, tying a large rock to it, and disposing of it in the lake where deputies found remains on Wednesday.

In statements from the Department of Public Safety, Christon told detectives she and Hewett were at a hotel in Houston from Oct. 17th through Oct. 20. On Oct. 19, Christon said Hewett left the hotel with a child to get food, according to the affidavit.

When he returned with the child 30 minutes later, the child was crying and Hewett began beating her with a belt, the affidavit says. Hewett also allegedly told Christon to hit the child with the belt, but said she wasn't hitting the child hard enough, so he began beating the child again.

Christon said the child was going in and out of consciousness, so she and Hewett put her in the bath tub to attempt to revive her, according to the document.

As Christon was removing the child from the tub, she said she noticed signs of sexual assault on the child.

That night, she said, the child died.

Hewett also allegedly told Christon to hit the child with the belt, but said she wasn't hitting the child hard enough, so he began beating the child again.

Christon told police the child was cold to the touch, so she and Hewett tried to use a hair dryer to warm her up, and while doing so the hair dryer began burning the child's skin.

She also said she kept the body in the back seat of her car for three days, inside a plastic trash bag, according to the affidavit.

What would compel a mother to allow a man to do this to their child? And instead of trying to leave, trying to get help, SHE HELPS KILL HER CHILD! In over a week, the best lie she could come up with was having the child at the park and someone kidnapped it. That tells you her level of intelligence.
