Community mourns murdered mom Heidi Broussard at South Austin vigil

Broussard’s fiancé Shane Carey was absent from the vigil, but his father Ty says Shane is still processing the loss of the mother of his children.

“I’m sure he hasn’t even begun to break that down,” said Carey. “He’s just missing her, I’m sure he hasn’t even begun to enter that room where the nightmares begin.”

... MC says she had never met the woman, but that Broussard would mention her often.

"Heidi spoke a lot about her, and it was really strange because Heidi would tell me that, ‘Isn’t it crazy that me and my best friend are pregnant at the same time, and we both have the same due date?’" recalled MC.

Unsealed affidavit reveals what may have happened to Heidi Broussard before her death
On Dec. 8 or 9, Shane Carey reported that he learned Fieramusca delivered a baby girl, but said he did not see any pictures of the baby.

According to the affidavit, a person who lives at the same apartment complex Broussard lived in, had video cameras outside of his residence that captured a vehicle consistent with Fieramuca's car driving at the complex around 9 a.m. on Dec. 12, the same day Broussard and Margot Carey went missing.

One witness said that on Dec. 11 or 12, she saw an adult white woman at the apartment complex carrying a small baby and walking towards a parked car. The witness reportedly told police she then saw another woman exit the car and greet the woman carrying the baby. The two women and baby then entered the car and drove away, according to the affidavit.

On Dec. 19, the witness was presented with a photo lineup that Fieramusca was in. Police said the witness was 60% to 70% positive that the woman she saw in the front seat of the vehicle at the apartment complex was Fieramusca.

Upon further investigation, officials found that Fieramusca conducted suspicious internet searches.

Police said Fieramusca reportedly searched for "reasons for Amber Alert" and "Amber alert issued Austin" on Dec. 12.

A full review of searches between Nov. 11 and Dec. 18 revealed that some form of "Heidi Broussard" was searched at least 162 times from a device using an account that lists Fieramusca's name.

On Dec. 14, Fieramusca allegedly searched "bodies found in Austin Texas."

According to the affidavit, data from T-Mobile revealed that Fieramusca's phone was in the Austin area near Broussard and Shane Carey's apartment on Dec. 12.

Authorities then began doing surveillance on the Houston-area home where Fieramusca was living. Officials said they found her car parked in a way that appeared to be an attempt to hide it.

LIVE: Woman charged with kidnapping Austin mom and baby pretended child was her own
[...]

According to the affidavit, when Broussard gave birth to Margot, Fieramusca was one of three people (the baby’s father Shane Carey and another woman) in the delivery room at St. David’s South Austin Hospital. Fieramusca, who at the time said she was 37 weeks pregnant herself, drove from her home in Houston to be there for the birth Nov. 26.

After the birth, family members came into the room. When the baby’s paternal grandfather, was handed the baby to hold, Fieramusca interjected herself and wanted to hold the baby, saying she had to leave, the affidavit said.

Fieramusca stayed at Carey and Broussard’s apartment on the 700 block of W. William Cannon Drive that night, the affidavit says. Carey gave Fieramusca a key, and Carey said afterward he never found the key he let Fieramusca borrow, the affidavit said.

[...]

A witness said she saw a woman carrying an infant with a knit cap get into the car, according to the affidavit. The witness said there wasn’t enough time for the woman carrying the baby to properly restrain her in the car before it left the parking lot, the affidavit said.

[...]

Broussard’s body was found in a duffel bag in the trunk of the car, which was registered to Fieramusca.

[…]

Fieramusca’s ex-boyfriend was living with her at the 8100 block of Bo Jack Drive in Houston. He said he believed he was the father of Fieramusca’s child, and said he noticed her belly growing as time passed, the affidavit said.

The ex-boyfriend said he felt Fieramusca’s stomach and said it felt “hard.” He said he never saw Fieramusca’s bare stomach because their relationship, at the time, “did not lend itself to seeing her in stages of undress,” the affidavit said. The two broke up in March, the affidavit said.

Affidavit: Woman accused of kidnapping Austin mom and baby pretended infant was her own

Fieramusca, who at the time claimed to be 37 weeks pregnant, drove from her home in Houston to be there for the birth on November 26th, and "interjected" herself into the family's first visit with Margo, allegedly telling the baby's paternal grandfather she had to leave and wanted to hold Margo, according to court documents.

[...]

On the day of Broussard's disappearance, police say surveillance video showed a car resembling Fieramusca’s drive toward the rear of the apartment complex, where Carey and Broussard’s apartment was, at 9:05 a.m. Cell phone data also placed Fieramusca's in the same area.

A witness at the apartment complex says she spotted a woman with an infant in a knit cap get into that vehicle where another woman was already waiting, and, according to the affidavit, it didn't seem that the woman had enough time to properly restrain the baby before leaving the parking lot.

Police say Fieramusca's ex-boyfriend lived with her at the home on Bo Jack Drive and believed himself to be the father of her child. He told investigators he noticed her belly growing over time and that it felt "hard."

However, he told investigators he never saw her bare stomach as their current relationship “did not lend itself to seeing her in stages of undress" after having broken up in March.

Texas Rangers found the ex-boyfriend buying baby formula on December 19th, the affidavit states, and showed him a flyer with a photo of Margo Carey, to which he replied "that's the baby in my house."

Fieramusca told Texas Rangers she went to the beach with a cousin on December 12th and told her ex-boyfriend she gave birth at a birthing center in The Woodlands, according to court papers, but could not recall the name of the birthing center.
