I think I found someone who could be a match. Her name is Nadia Rodriguez and here's why I think she might be Smurfette:

Age 16 at the time of her disappearance (age range matches)
5'4 (two inches taller than Smurfette's estimated height)
Biracial (Smurfette was biracial; Rodriguez is both Asian and Hispanic)
Went missing from Pasadena (Smurfette was found in a part of Houston that's about 32.2 miles and 45 minutes away from Pasadena)
Her hair was dyed red and black (Rodriguez's hair color might have been dark brown? Not sure)

Rodriguez is listed as an Endangered Runaway and was reported missing a little over a month after Smurfette's estimated time of death, but if this wasn't the first time she ran off, maybe her family just assumed she'd come back soon and didn't report her until after she'd been missing for a month or so.

Here's her profile on MissingKids:
http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewChildDetail&caseNum=1205827&orgPrefix=NCMC&seqNum=1&caseLang=en_US&searchLang=en_US

Too many similarities not to be considered Smurfette. Not on NamUs, don't know if dentals are available. This picture has her front teeth and gums exposed.

I can submit her, however it is a long shot with the date, and I also have submitted someone of Asian descent and she said our girl is definitely not of Asian descent. I know it's getting harder with PMs I feel like we have submitted tons of girls, we just haven't found the right one(hopefully our girl has been reported missing)

just for reference: it is likely our girl could be biracial; Caucasian and African American descent, remember the over bite is what is confusing her and makes her believe she could be mixed with African American descent, meaning she may not be mixed. She said she does not believe she is Hispanic but wouldn't want to exclude a PM since it is just an estimate from her analysis of the remains. This is what she said when I submitted this one: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/17644/8/
"No, our girl is not Asian/Pacific Islander in facial morphology."

I can submit Nadia just give me the thumbs up to do so!

Hope this link works... when i look up the address where the UID was found, it says it was by a gated driveway. I don't see any gated driveways around this address. Gated neighborhoods, but not a driveway. This looks pretty residential to me I wonder why this area is where she was found.

This looks like the area that was shown on the news. Farther up Walter's.

I'll call Nadia in. I have someone else who I think is a potential match and I think I should call her in, too.

The link houston mom posted is what I saw on the news. Gated gravel "driveway" looks more like a road if you ask me. And didn't someone walk by and notice a "foul odor" and call it in??

I ran across this post for missing children in Washington state. Most, if not all, are not listed in NamUs. Many of these are runaways from foster homes, state homes, etc. Most have little or no other information available.

I'm not suggesting a young girl from WA could be our Smurfette, although at least a half dozen or more do look similar to the sketch. I am wondering though if that is typical of Texas and surrounding states. When a young girl gets to be 16,17 & flees her state ordered environment, do other states even report it?

I see so many that could be smurfette that aren't on namus, unfortunately anytime I send a PM in they like to have the namus link(they are familiar with that database) they can go in and compare dentals right then and there and if not they call whatever police agency is listed for that missing person on namus to set up a time to compare dentals(if they are available) I can't find a lot of these girls on any missing persons database just news articles that state they went missing, which makes its incredibly hard to try to make a match.

What about the 22 rib oddity? I'm wondering if her condition was severe enough to be a handicap and many handicapped children do end up in foster care when their families can't provide the medical care or CPS steps in. Just a random thought, but I keep returning to the possibility that she's not reported anywhere in our traditional sources.

Hey, I found a database that profiles missing persons in Mexico. It's in Spanish and, unfortunately, not all of the girls have pictures attached to their profile. But it DOES list hair color, hair texture and length, exact height in cm, and even the size/shape of their lips, eyes, face etc. So even if you're like me and your Spanish isn't the best, it's worth taking a look at on the off chance Smurfette was originally from Mexico.

A notice called ''Aviso Importante'' will probably come up once you get on the site. Just click 'aceptar' and you're good to go.

So we know she has a skull malformation and is missing two ribs, I found this on skull malformations.

Children with Chiari malformations might have other conditions that are associated with the abnormality, such as:

Hydrocephalus: An excessive buildup of CSF in the brain that causes an enlarged skull and, if left untreated, can lead to brain damage, a loss in mental and physical abilities, and even death.
Syringomyelia: A disorder in which a cavity called a syrinx develops in the spinal cord. This cavity usually fills with fluid and stretches the spinal cord, which can cause permanent nerve damage and paralysis.
Scoliosis: A condition that causes a curvature of the spine. Scoliosis can be a complication of syringomyelia, which causes an imbalance in the strength of the muscles that hold the spine straight and upright.

Someone with congenital scoliosis may have absent or fused ribs

Maybe our girl has scoliosis?

*ADDED*
Scoliosis is associated with osteopenia

Do we have a cod on her? Or did I miss that?

I called in both Candelaria Perez and Nadia Rodriguez earlier today. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we've found the right girl...

@Sloane7777: Sorry, what's a 'cod'?
