On Tuesday, there was gripping testimony that centered around anonymous emails which Eric Williams allegedly sent, claiming responsibility for all three murders. Those emails were sent beginning March 31, one day after the McLellands were found murdered in their home.

I have been wondering the same thing. Maybe the defense had NOTHING to refute the states evidence. If that is true, why all the smirking from EW on day 1 of the trial? (MOO)

I don't know what's going on but I do believe this is about the shortest murder trial in Texas history.

Perhaps the smirking was because he knew he could request an appeal based on no defense???????? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but regardless of his sentence he will be shipped off to a state prison which should be much harder time to serve than being in a relatively comfy county prison. His smirk may be erased.

This video played in court, where he said, he has nothing to do with this crime, is considered his only defense so far.
State case is circumstantial, no forensic evidence to link him to crime. They believe defense will argue there is no evidence in closing arguments, state has no case.

If there will be defense's closing arguments, defense didn't present any opening statement. Strange.

Defense is making a closing argument. They did their standard request for mistrial, and one or was based on juror's names being released when polled about Criminal Minds episode. Which I conveniently saw and about choked when Spencer mentioned Eric Williams name.
