My nephew is half Mexican (his dad is Mexican). His dad is an only child, so technically I am my nephew's only aunt. He calls many of his cousins on his dad's side aunt and uncle. Especially because many of his cousins are a bit older than him. It's just a cultural thing. I think it's fairly common.

Really heartbroken over this sweet little girl. I don't understand how someone could be such a monster. I have no doubt that LE knew pretty quick that he was lying.

Yes - if you read through the thread, a lot of us were convinced from the start - especially after a little googling around privately - that he was surely the cause of her disappearance. And looking back, I believe her family knew it too, immediately.

I've mentioned it before, but somehow these utterly predictable cases are the worst. You just know them when you see them, usually within the first few posts. This kind, and the "husband was the last one to see his wife alive" kind.

Guess we can be thankful that certain criminals are reliably stupid.

I wonder if the "immigration status" issue = they aren't sure they have the right name for him/who he really is, hence not releasing a name.

You are so right, he could have been using an alias and had false ID. Criminals do that sort of thing, especially if here illegally.

I have to believe LE suspected him with those scratches on his face, right? But yet it seems they didn't or maybe they did and were tracking him. I'm still just so broken over this case.

Looks like hes got quite a few scratches on his face and possibly a bruise on his forehead.

Maybe some of Kaylas family members got together and had a little meeting with him.

They are probably scared of him. I would bet he used the baby against her mother. Could have threatened to take her back to Mexico and there would be nothing that could have been done.

But wouldn't they have discovered that in 2014 when he was charged with assault?
