Spitler now talking about what happened after an arrest warrant was issued. Spitler met with US Marshals and took possession of some of Armstrong's property collected in Costa Rica.In the arrest warrant, Spitler says it included details from their ballistic investigation of the likelihood that one of Armstrong's 9mm pistols was used. Some of that ballistic data was later discovered to be inaccurate. Spitler says when submitting the arrest warrant, he believed the information was accurate to the best of his knowledge.

No, I believe. If anything, he is prone to oversharing - no one dragged the information about the night after murder from him, for example. What is deeply shocking is that CS and KA seemed to be the proponents of green, organic, healthy living. Can you even reconcile it with this horrible crime?

Yes. Why not?

Spitler is the 23rd witness called up in this trial. Prosecution is recalling where Monday’s testimony left off - talking about the Marshals collecting property. Spitler says he collected the property from that point. It was taken to APD and two other detectives searched it.

Prosecution taking about details that go into an arrest warrant. Asks about what ballistics information was included in arrest warrant. Spitler essentially says he put information saying ‘this firearm’ was a match for the one used.

Spitler says he has since not included the verbiage he used in other warrants bc it wasn’t exactly correct.

prosecution says there’s been testimony about videos, eventually supplied to police, and asked about time stamp. Spitler confirms he’s the one who asked Vuong (previous witness) to verify the time stamp. Says the time stamp was 6 mins off.

Spitler says he did not put the six minute delay info in his arrest warrant but did note it at another time. Spitler then says the time stamp didn’t fully match up with the other videos, and he came to the conclusion that the video is 3 minutes off instead of 6.

Spitler says the conclusion on Vuong’s video is based on data later obtained from Armstrong’s Jeep

Spitler is talking about an ex-bc of Wilson’s, Gunner Shaw. Spitler says the scene seemed personal and he wanted to track down anyone that had a personal relationship with her. He found the lead from a Reddit post mentioning a name similar to Wilson, mentioning an abusive ex.

Spitler says he found Shaw and he cooperated. Spitler says the cellphone provider would not give Shaw’s info out without a warrant. Spitler says Shaw sent him his flight info/rental car receipt, putting him 700 miles away when Wilson was killed.

Spitler says the Reddit account continued to make more posts - but he stopped looking at it July 10. He said that there was no way the Reddit account belonged to Mo Wilson.

Spitler says he also looked into an Allen Lim, who he says was close to Wilson. He can’t recall if people insinuated they had dated or were just close friends. Spitler requested proof of his location, and Lim cooperated. Lim provided cell records, and Strava account.

Spitler says they estimated that him finishing a ride and going to airport, he would’ve landed around 9:15-9:30 right as the murder was taking place. Spitler says he did not believe he had probable cause to investigate either one, but did out of an abundance of caution.

Off to a delayed start today. 9:21am: Kaitlin Armstrong enters the courtroom wearing a black pantsuit and white collared blouse. She greets her attorneys and chats quietly with them with a smile. She nods along with whatever they are discussing.

This is the most animated or talkative I have seen Kaitlin Armstrong during this entire trial. She and her defense attorney Puryear continue chatting and smiling as the jury is escorted in. Three sheriff's deputies take their seats beside her.
KA is probably relieved CS testimony is over

Spitler discussing a follow-up investigation of Gunner Shaw, an ex-boyfriend of Mo Wilson. Spitler pursued him as a possible person of interest, seeking to find out where Shaw was when Wilson was murdered.Spitler: "Everything about this scene... seemed like it was very personal. A personal homicide. So I wanted to try to track down anybody who had something personal with her, some sort of personal relationship."There was a Reddit post with someone discussing their abusive ex-boyfriend, and the username was similar to Mo Wilson's name. Spitler believed that Wilson wrote it and thus, Shaw could have been the murderer.Spitler found Shaw and he was cooperative. He provided flight information and receipts for a rental car, which put him more than 7000 miles away at the time of the murder.

Pursuing the Reddit post further, Spitler found that the posts continued all the way through July 10. With the murder happening May 11, Spitler determined the poster could not have been Mo Wilson.Spitler began to look into a man named Allen Lim. Spitler was told Lim and Wilson were close. Spitler requested Lim's alibi for May 11. Lim was cooperative and provided cell phone records showing his geo-location, his Strava account showing his ride on the morning of May 11 and then an airport receipt showing a flight to #ATX, landing at ~9:15, the time the murder was taking place. Lim was thus ruled out as a suspect.

On Oct. 20, Spitler was notified that Armstrong's DNA was found on Wilson's bicycle which was ditched in the bamboo forest.

Spitler says that after reviewing evidence at the crime scene, he believed there was a possibility that the shooter had injured themselves, possibly dropping the their own blood at the crime scene. His theory: The shooter was gripping the gun too tightly, and the weapon caught on the shooter's hand, leaving a trail of blood on Wilson's leg. The blood, after examination, came back as Wilson's. The theory was thus disproved.

Spitler discussing an indoor firing range: "The Range."APD collected records from The Range, which Spitler discussed with fellow detectives. The prosecution apologizes for "jumping all over the place" with his lines of questioning for Spitler. Now discussing a washer/dryer at Cash's residence. The washer/dryer had a defect which Spitler says could have been caused by a projectile. He doesn't know what caused the defect, but it was documented.

The prosecution is jumping all over the place in this questioning!

Spitler says approximately 25-30 search warrants were issued throughout the course of the investigation. Included: Cellphone data, cellphone devices, Google accounts, vehicle warrants, residence warrants, social media accounts.

On June 2, Spitler was notified that Armstrong's Jeep was located at a Carmax in North Austin. He contacted Carmax inquiring about the car mileage. He knew that it possibly included GPS data, but he was unsure how long the Jeep would store that information. It had only been driven 13 miles since Armstrong turned it in. Spitler also asked about maintenance and if the GPS data was wiped. He requested Carmax no longer touch the Jeep.

Spitler went to Carmax and removed the infotainment system. A search warrant was approved and he took it to a forensics expert to examine. The results took him to an apartment complex in South Austin, down the street from Strickland/Armstrong's home.

Yes. Why not?
I agree, people used to be equally shocked about murderers living middle-class surburban lifestyles. Or murderers who were church members or leaders. Or murderers who grew up in wealthy, high status families.

IMO, living a green, organic, lifestyle can just be a facade in order to be associated with what are considered the cool people.

It isn't necessarily fulfilling. It doesn't create a life of perfect happiness if you are anxious you're going to lose your relationship, or if your girlfriend kills your friend.

JMO

Spitler being asked to confirm the contents of a hard drive, which he says contains information re: the search warrants. It has now been admitted into evidence. The defense team is huddling privately at their table. Armstrong looks and listens on to their conversation.

Inside the courtroom, we are now looking at pictures of a black Jeep Cherokee that were taken at Carmax. Spitler says Armstrong drove the Jeep to the Carmax. The photos show the exterior of the Jeep from the front, the side, the back. The bike rack has been removed. Now interiors of the driver side, passenger side, infotainment system. A picture of the infotainment system removed and the serial number.

Spitler says when searching Armstrong’s account, he went through the recently deleted notes file. He says he found a note with an address, 1704 Maple Ave. He says thats not a real address, but the garage apartment where Wilson died is listed on Google maps as 1704 Maple Ave.

A slightly different version of Alex's post, who described it as next door to the murder scene...

I do not disagree with your comment, at all, but I do recall reading that it was actually CS who encouraged KA to get into cycling, as she was not when they first met. She may have gotten into it more to appease him than because she really wanted to adopt his lifestyle. But yes, she did adopt it, though I think that happens to some extent in most relationships. JMO

Strickland said Armstrong was not involved in cycling when they first met, but he encouraged her to pursue it.

That's my recollection as well, but I don't know exactly what that means. He might be using it as an example of being nice to her. She might not have needed much persuasion at all. Etc.
