Relative to KA's defense team Austin lawyers Cofer & Connelly, I'm having a deja vu of Colorado's Barry Morphew defense team!

Lawyers very big on citing the US & TX Constitutions, and discovery violations!

And I'm calling it now -- July 20 will be ripe with allegations of discovery violations by the prosecutor, while their client languishes behind bars, under conditions that prevent her from daily yoga and meditation....

And it will be classic Iris E. if KA's defense, led by Rick Cofer, then suggests a reduction in charge to Murder-2 in light of the alleged discovery violations.

ETA: If true, I hope somebody including the victim's advocate warns MW's family and friends.

You are so right on the money! It's bound to be a bumpy ride for the prosecution even if they win on murder 1 in the end.

And having watched the Morphew case closely, it will be very tough for the family of the victim (& case followers) to have so much focus on the defendant's "rights" instead of the beautiful young athlete who has no future now.

I don't look forward to enduring it either.

Awesome 1st post!

I had wondered wondered the same thing. Where the heck did he charge his phone? As to Alison & her son, I think we may find out that he lies so much, it's impossible to sort out the truth. Just a hunch.
JMO
Good pt. about how could he have gotten the phone charged..I never thought about that until you brought that up.

Great article, thank you for posting this. It also describes a very creepy phenomenon with Bundy regarding his eyes I read about years ago. Snipped for Focus

Ted Bundy’s Changing Eye Color

In addition to Bundy’s propwork, he could also physically change…sometimes mid-conversation, says Michaud. According to the author, during his Bundy interviews the killer’s face would physically change with his mood.

It started with his eyes.

“His true day-to-day eye color… He had these kind of pretty blue eyes,” says Michaud. “But when he really got going, his eyes got black.”

Michaud isn’t sure why that is, although he’s open to the idea that it might have had something to do with pupil dilation at times of heightened arousal.

True evil...

Here’s another article kinda related to that — but also about stillness.

Actually, stillness is one of the major indicators that someone is being deceptive. That’s because the majority of non-verbal communication is subconscious, and it requires a massive amount of mental energy to verbally say one thing and non-verbally say the complete opposite. Most people find it impossible regardless of the amount of energy they spend trying to accomplish it. To avoid this dilemma, people often completely still their movements (or their movements appear awkward and stiff). Children are notoriously bad about this — they totally freeze up when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

That’s why LE specifically spells out (in the arrest warrant) that KA went completely still when she was confronted with video evidence of her Jeep outside.

The human brain is a fascinating specimen.

I hope that they are able to get into it quickly if KA wasn’t willing to give up the code. There was case here a few years ago where we had a terrorist shooting. The shooter was killed and his phone was retrieved, but Apple first refused to open it for the government siting privacy reasons. The FBI had to get involved and it was finally unlocked, but it took awhile. I wonder if Apple has changed their policy.
I think part of the reason they weren’t given access was because the phone users (terrorists) were dead, so the info wasn’t needed for the prosecution of a crime. I’m almost certain that Apple has to comply with a court order. But I could also totally be wrong.

ETA — I was totally wrong! Apparently, it has to do with the encryption on the phone. So, Apple can’t extract data unless the iPhone in question is equipped with iOS 8.0 or an older version.

However! I think a large majority of the data can be obtained thru other means like subpoenas for data from Google, iCloud, and various other apps. It just has to be done piecemeal which is a lot of work that takes time, and it’s possible she deleted out a lot of stuff when she deleted her SM accounts.

This makes so much sense. If I was confronted with something like this, and knowing I didn't do anything wrong or hurt anyone, I would be anything but still. I would be professing my innocence and asking what I needed to do to prove I didn't have anything to do with this crime.

And I wonder if KA saw those flowers inside the apartment where she followed MW. That would have probably cranked her rage up exponentially. May explain why she took multiple shots to the head, in addition to one in the torso. And not to be morbid, but I think it would say something about the shooter, so I wonder if she was shot in the face (my thoughts) or the back of the head. JMO

Exactly. Right after she got his message. The lie was his, and not the first one, and one bets, not only about Mo. So technically speaking, it was CS, not Mo, who "dissed" Kaitlin.
Had CS come home, smelling of chlorine and lying about these flowers, and Kaitlin turned her anger against him, I'd feel more compassion towards her.

The defense will probably call some yoga guru as an expert witness, saying she was just being still and practicing mindfulness under stress.

Well dang, I was partially wrong also! Apple put out a statement saying they did give LE everything they asked for in the Florida case and they disagree with LE saying that they did not comply. And Apple claims they weren’t made aware of they second phone until later. I am taking this thread off topic, and I apologize, but here’s a follow up article regarding the back and forth. Apple’s statement is at the end.

Ok carry on

I am already nervous about this case and worried about the defense attorney and how he might gather sympathy for his client.

Found an interesting article about him. Interesting tactics in court. … he asked a female colleague to sit at the prosecution table in a trial and to “tap her pen or play with her hair” in an attempt to influence male jurors, the records show.

Unfortunately, this article is behind a pay wall. Just could read the first few paragraphs. Not sure if there is anything new in the article.

Aliases, a plastic surgery receipt, and 43 days on the run: How suspect in Vt. cyclist slaying got caught in Costa Rica - The Boston Globe

Zachary Poulsen was just going to ask the receptionist about the Band-Aid on her bruised nose when three police officers darted through the front gates of Don Jon's Lodge near the beaches of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica.

The officers demanded that the receptionist show her documents, according to Poulsen. She responded to the officers with one word, “Puntarenas,” the name of a faraway port town. She seemed to be suggesting that her passport was hours away. The officers did not seem to buy it, Poulsen said. They escorted her out of the hostel and drove her six hours to the country’s capital of San José.

It was there, according to authorities, that the woman broke down and admitted her true identity: Kaitlin Armstrong.

Thank you for sharing! I was able to read the whole article by going through Google.

...on May 14, [KA] boarded a plane traveling to Houston and on to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

Her whereabouts over the next four days remain uncertain. Voter records list Armstrong’s sister as living at a holistic camp in the Catskills, a couple of hours outside of New York City. On May 18, Armstrong resurfaced in surveillance footage at Newark airport with her long blond hair pulled back and a black mask covering the lower part of her face.

By then, police had formally secured a homicide warrant. Still, at security, Armstrong was able to flash a passport either stolen from or offered up by a close acquaintance, whom authorities have not named. Then she boarded a plane to San José, Costa Rica.

... surveillance cameras at the gate showed Armstrong boarding.

Right! Anything! Call a friend! Punch a pillow. Holler! Toss his stuff out on the lawn - ANYTHING else to get that anger out without hurting or killing anyone. Very sad she didn’t reach deep down for some self control and stop herself from doing the unthinkable.

Someone may have posted photos of the apartment #kaitlinarmstong on Twitter

Those pics are from a different apartment/house. Mo was murdered at 1708 Maple Ave (per arrest warrant affidavit). The pics posted are from the guesthouse at 1706 Maple as seen on Zillow (the windows don't match the exterior photos posted in MSM of where Mo was staying).

Just letting my imagination run riot here - is it possible that KA went home to CS, confessed everything, and he helped her get away? Possible? Impossible? Maybe?
I guess anything is possible, but even though he wasn’t an honest person with KA and possibly even Mo, I hope he wouldn’t also contribute to helping KA. But I do question what it was like for them living together in the days before she fled after she was questioned by Austin PD and her phone and possibly other evidence was taken from the home.

No. Not at all. (See below in my post - she probably was horribly afraid that CS would guess).

But - since CS was feeling guilty because he just met with another woman, and KA felt guilty because she just killed that woman, I suspect, they were very nice to each other.

CS just deviated from the truth. (Interestingly, his text is quite telling; when people lie, they add too many details. Also, he just ate, and in the text, pretended to be hungry. A peculiar way of covering all the bases). So I think when Kaitlin came home, he was merely happy that he wasn’t caught. Kaitlin also had a lot to hide. Only, how could she make dinner, having just riddled another woman with bullets? I think it would be easier to go out to eat, but something tells me that they ate at home.

And - she had to put the gun back into the box, pronto. JMHO - she did not think the community or LE would connect her to KW, but thought that CS could. Hence, she returned the gun, so that CS wouldn’t make the connection, on hearing about KW’s murder. KA was afraid that he might guess, and get angry, maybe leave her. JMO x 2. In this, she totally misread him, and his reaction. And this is what makes me wonder about KA.
