5/22/20 Vanessa Guillen's family loves her, misses, her, and most of all wants her back.

Also added, is a translation from Spanish, of what Vanessa's Mom said at the 5/21 presser.
Mom claims a sergeant was sexually harassing Vanessa and that Vanessa was afraid to tell.
I’m very curious about why mom thought Vanessa was being harassed by a sergeant. Did Vanessa tell her that? I can’t pull up the links you posted on my phone for some reason, neither one works but is that information in one of the articles? TIA

Questions:
1. Is it possible that there is one or more officers who prey on new arrivals to the base? Hence a coverup?
2. Is it now clear than VG left the base in someone else’s car and never returned?
3. Is. It possible VG left her ID etc to show she was being coerced ti leave the armory?

Family of missing Fort Hood soldier pleads for help after one month with no answers

SABBM:

Efforts to find Vanessa Guillen initially included more than 500 soldiers from the 3rd Cavalry Regiment searching on foot in training areas, barracks and across the installation, Tom Rheinlander, spokesman for Fort Hood, said in a statement.

It is unclear how long that level of participation occurred, but he said efforts now include smaller groups conducting more targeted searches.

Aircraft from the 1st Cavalry Division provided more than 100 hours of flight time to the search on and off the installation, Rheinlander said.
<snip>

CID continues to lead the investigation, but because it is ongoing, officials have released little information to safeguard the process, Rheinlander said. Other agencies participating in the search include the Texas Rangers, Bell and Coryell County Sheriff Departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas game wardens, the FBI and local area police departments.

On a FB page/group dedicated to finding VG, an English translation of her mother's statement during the recent peaceful protest outside the base said that her mother was told that VG was 'sent to get a report but never came back'. She also firmly stated that VG confided in her that she had been sexually harrassed by a seargent but was afraid to report it. Does anyone know more about being sent for a report or what that could mean? (Its possible something was lost in translation)

Wow, that's a pretty big lead if you ask me, I hope they are doing everything they can to investigate these comments. Thanks for the info @Theorijenal, welcome to websleuths! glad you're here and hope you stick around :)

Family, friends of missing soldier hold protest outside Fort Hood

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Family and friends of missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen held a peaceful protest Friday afternoon near an entrance gate on post.

The dozens who came from across Texas to the Killeen-Fort Hood area were hoping to get answers in Vanessa's disappearance.

Vanessa's sisters, Lupe and Mayra, were joined by their parents at the protest.

The last time anyone has seen 20-year-old Vanessa Guillen: April 22.

"She's a brave young woman. I believe she's in there and she's suffering but she's still alive. I want her back like that," said Lupe Guillen. "I want her alive. I demand answers now, I want it now. We're here for her, we want her back."

With a month of no clues, Mayra Guillen says her family is hurting.

"Part of me is missing because me as the older sister, I've always took the lead and having them go the right path. Me not being able to prevent this from happening to Vanessa makes me feel a type of way I can't explain," Mayra Guillen said.

They feel someone knows something about Vanessa's disappearance.

"Say something. Don't be scared at this point," Mayra Guillen added.

Multiple agencies including the Texas Rangers, Bell and Coryell County Sheriff Departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, the FBI as well as local area police departments are assisting in the investigation.

This sounds right.
Hope CID is up to the task.

A quick search online for 'fort hood soldier missing' and 'fort hood soldier found dead' will shock you with the numbers...

so much so ,that it seems in march 2018

-' (FORT HOOD STOPPED ISSUING PRESS RELEASES NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC OF THE DEATH OF A SOLDIER)'

Is something going on in that base?????

Too many articles to link!

"In the last 3 years from January 2016 to January 2019, Fort Hood on average lost 35 soldiers a year.'
Army Soldiers at Fort Hood in Texas Are Dying at Alarming Rates Stateside (January 1, 2016 to Present)

At the bottom of that article there's a father commenting that the military ruled his sons death suicide which he does not believe... and many many more along the same lines....

from 2016-19,

-11 soldiers from fort hood died and 1 missing, between Iraq, Korea and Afghanistan combined . (2 suicides, 3 accidents, 6 in attacks/combat)

Compared to 118 deaths stateside! that's more than ten times the number of soldiers from that base dying at home than in the wars!

I was not intending criticism of you, just inquiring. Military bases are well.....This was said before. Sexual harassment and sexual assault of females is very common. On the base, in the work place, in the barracks, even in their own rooms. Guys would walk through sometimes and try the doorknobs. It happened three times in less than a year in one place in our building alone. Sometimes the door is unlocked and someone leaves for some reason. The males weren't supposed to be on our floor.
You are less safe in the barracks than you would be in your own house in the community. That's the bottom line.
I agree, I would have expected more cameras than they are claiming. Maybe I'm watching too much TV.

I see what you're saying! It is a totally valid question to ask me. I am not really familiar with the ins and outs of the armed forces. I have heard about the rates of sexual harassment, rape, assault etc. against female soldiers though which is alarming and deplorable.

That being said, I just feel like there should be possibly more recordkeeping/surveillance than a civ job. This obviously might be the case, but just not be shared with us. But, I feel like disappearing from a Gap or retail/grocery store vs. an army base is a bit different. Again, JMO. Always down to chat and learn more. All the best!

Before middlest Carbuff kid started working as a contractor with the military, I heard "base" and thought of a small isolated community of close-knit folk working together. The first time he took us on base I was blown away by how huge it was--and it's only about a third the size of Fort Hood. A base is a small city, complete with families, schools, gyms, restaurants, shopping, gas stations, all the normal stuff of life. There's even an auto dealer and a motorcycle dealer.

Fort Hood is listed at around 50K people. That's basically the same as the small city I live in, and it looks like the numbers cited above are in the same ballpark as for my city.

How many of the stateside deaths are due to automotive accidents I wonder? When I was at Hood there was this giant sign counter at the entrances where they would list the number of days since a traffic fatality. The base commander was supposed to give everyone a 4 day weekend if we surpassed a certain numbers of days without a fatality. The board was reset frequently.

Ft. Hood is huge. When I was there people were constantly in the field, doing training exercises, deploying etc. With that kind of an ops tempo and that size of a base located in not the best area...deaths can be expected...suicide rates are high...training accidents happen...aircraft mishaps happen (2 large airfields)...AWOL's happen....lots of traffic accidents...there was even some gang activity on base. We had to have briefings about it.

All that being said, there are other obstacles females face in the military...stalking, harassment, assault and one of the very last things you want to do is report it and appear sensitive in front of your colleagues. I don't like the look of this case. I don't like that this happened in broad daylight on one of the main streets on main Ft. Hood. I don't like that her mother was aware of some harassment. I don't like that she left her belongings in the armory. I don't like the feel of any of it and I just want her found safely.

I was her age when I was there. I was her size when I was there. I have been on Hell on Wheels an uncounted number of times. It just hits too close to home.

***Sevenmile Mountain Area***
(Killeen Ft Hood Airport to East)

I am unable to obtain a street view of this area.
Is the Sevenmile Mountain area an "open" recreation for people to use?
Is there fencing around this area? If so, are only specific personnel able to access?

I'm only interested in FACTS.

That area is part of West Fort Hood/Robert Gray Army Airfield. I primarily worked from this location 15 years ago. My squadron was just north of the airfield and the weather station I forecasted out of was right on the airfield. Only military personnel/contractors/people with on base passes can access that area. There was a second gate you had to enter to get to the airfield itself (as with Hood Army Airfield on main Fort Hood).

We frequently ran PT up that "mountain." A side note is, that is where those huge old concrete missile bunkers are. They are generally used for storing of equipment now and each until that has been assigned a bunker for storage will have their own locks/keys to access the bunker. Each one is huge and I can't estimate the number that are built into that hillside. My squadron had 2 of those bunkers and an old Radio/Satellite building (also on West Fort Hood but to the north) so I am familiar with the inside of 2 of those bunkers. There is also a barracks location just north of the airfield.
