Great Work!!! Looks like you can almost make out a plate number!!! I saw this before and I didn't make much of it~~but I'm wondering if the dark spot on the plate could possibly be a decal. I work with a woman who's son is a Chicago Police officer. She has a decal~~didn't pay much attention to it in the past~~but~~I believe it is fraternal order of police decal, on her rear license plate in that same location. Wondering if it is possible the car is related to someone in LE?

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. It's not exactly what I was looking for but you'll get the idea.

Good Morning all,

Can someone tell me why the reward hasn't been raised? Money always makes people talk or give tips to LE. Almost makes me think there is no need to do so, that LE knows the perp, and is just waiting to gather more facts.

IMHO

I haven't seen a case on WS that the additional raised money has helped solve a case.
In fact, I haven't seen a case on WS that any reward money has helped solve a case.

Also, even if there is no reward money, in my opinion, does not mean that LE knows who the perp is.

IMOO.

Yes, I brought up way back that the reward for Dr Kendra Hatcher got raised to 100K and withn a few days, someone ratted out where Brenda Delgado was. They knew she fled to Mexico but didn't know where. That 100K made someone sing.....thought the same here. Money makes people talk

Interesting. Thanks!

it's very difficult to get mace or anything similar here. i suppose hairspray in the eyes would confuse for a minute

You could make a mixture of water, borax and habanero or ghost peppers .....

im sure that'd be blinding. And it's all stuff I have in the pantry...

Good Morning Sleuthers!

Here is to hoping SP gets arrested today!!!

There are so many different theories and different scenarios brought up by everyone here! I think that is the greatest thing about WS~~the collective collaboration of so many sharp minds!

So, being in the profession I'm in~~I have to propose a topic which I haven't seen discussed yet. :) As an accountant, I'm involved in auditing and we follow the money trail and look for fraud. So I'm wondering if it is possible SP was involved in defrauding the church somehow and MB became aware of it. I would want to look at the books and records of the church to see if perhaps tithing had taken a downturn as compared to prior years??

So, here is a proposed scenario. We know that MB was murdered on a Monday morning. We know churches often have services on Sunday and the bulk of the tithing happens on that day. I think several WSer's and LE have mentioned throughout these threads that many times churches are most often broken in on the day following a day on which tithes had been collected. Is it possible the perp was stealing tithes on a regular basis before the tithes were counted (early am) and Missy may have bumped into that person on the churches premises and thought nothing of it? Perp feeling she/he is about to be exposed decides to silence MB? Of course, this theory would be predicated on the assumption the tithes were not counted on Sunday but on Monday morning.
Just my owns thoughts~~thinking out loud~~~in no way can I prove or disprove this theory!

I don't rule out any of the ideas that MB found out something about money\drugs\guns, but here is my problem with that. It is almost human nature to talk about things with those close to you, especially when something bothers you. If she indeed found something out that was big enough to be killed over, I would almost bet she told someone. She told a close friend about the LI message that bothered her. If she knew something as big as the issues that have been mentioned, I would think she would have, at a minimum, told her husband. He seems to have no worry about himself or his kids being in danger. If this was truly a hit carried out by someone worried enough about their secret being exposed, I would expect they would assume she told someone.

I tend to agree~~but~~what if MB didn't think anything of it? We do know perp is not in their right mind to begin with~~just by perps actions to murder MB. What IF~~prep was reading more into it than it really was~~a kind of paranoia?

To SP, whoever you are, and if you are a woman, here is an interesting article for you to read:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karla_Faye_Tucker

This is what will happen to you. There will be no mercy shown to you by the state of Texas. It won't matter that you are a woman, have children, are sincerely remorseful, have turned your life around, etc. etc. You will spend the next decade or two on death row, then you will have a date with the needle in Huntsville.

As an aside--- I was living in TX back in 98, when Karla Faye Tucker was executed. I, along with many other people thought she had been truly rehabilitated, and had been living an exemplary life. However, the state of Texas didn't see it that way.

IMHO

Oh yes! And I think the decal under the plate is a puppy's head. Looking right at you with puffy ears.

don't know for sure, but that may be why he had to take off that exterior handle. The locks for all fire doors would've been set by the night custodian when the church was closed for the night (even if the interior sets were left unlocked). I'm wondering if, in order to unlock the panic hardware, perp took the outside handle off in order to reach inside the hole with a tool and manually pull down and disengage the locking pin that goes up into the top of the doorframe?

This back fire door apparently had panic hardware with concealedvertical locking pins which meant perp had to access them via the removed exterior handle's hole (see church door photo). Many fire doors have 'surface' locking pins (not concealed inside the hollow metal door). Photos for comparison:

Other panic doors with surface (visible) locking pins (images from jackson door site and http://www.locksmithledger.com/article/10774876/exit-device-basics):

eta one last thought...not sure why swatperp bothered, frankly, if he was just going to break the back glass doors and kitchen window, anyway. Completely doesn't make sense unless he was going out of his way to try to appear to be a vandal rather than a murderer.

RBBM

My apologies for bringing the door back into the thread; however, I am just now able to read this far. I think poirotryinmotion has brought out an important point that I've otherwise missed.

LEO states the unsub may be and is likely a female. Who would think or know about removing the handle to bypass the locking pins? A firefighter.

From the link: "Exit devices are designed to be installed onto the secure side of outswinging doors. They restrict access while providing free egress. The exit device developed in the United States was introduced after the loss of lives in a number of building fires, including the infamous Iroquois Theatre Fire of 1903, where more than 600 people died."

Breaking of the glass doesn't raise my suspicions that it was a burglary gone bad because nothing was taken or attempted to be stolen from the Church except for Missy's life.

It worked ;)

Regarding Sparky's question about a flashlight, at one point in the video, I detected a flashlight held in the perps hand. Will try to find the time on that video.
