If I were driving my friend who had just found out his wife was murdered, I'd go that fast too! With or without a police escort.

But he thought she was in a vehicle accident not that she's been murdered!!

Thanks NIN. I wonder how they got from Biloxi to Gulfport. Granted it's only 20 miles, but how and why?

I checked the main rental car companies coming up in a google search. All but HERTZ open later than 7am. When you click on the HERTZ locator listed under Biloxi MS it will take you to the Gulfport Biloxi Regional Airport located in Gulfport and opening at 7am. Could have been the reason.

Only at first. Not that one scenario would make me drive any slower than the other one anyway ?

Drive time estimates are based on the posted speeds along the route, not the actual time a trip takes. Drive times do not account for traffic, stops, refueling, etc. Sure, you can shave off an hour on the drive time by speeding. But you still must account for any delays or stops, which can't be shaved. You still must account for those additional stops created by the exponential decrease in fuel efficiency from speeding.

I missed this. Would it be possible to post the source? Thanks in advance!

It was in the NG episode. Sandy posted a clip from this interview earlier in this thread (post #253). I will try to find the link in a minute.

"It's almost like having a tarnished memory," she says. "I hate that I have a tarnished memory, and I don't want them to have a tarnished memory." It helps them to hear that their dad "loved her no matter what," Tucker adds. "Whatever happened in the past, he still loved her."

Continuing talk about infidelity. Imagine what was said about MB while she was alive.

Where is MBs side of the family?! I don't recall ever reading anything about them...

Asked if he could say whether the suspect on the video is a man or a woman, Johnson says, "Man, I'd love to be able to answer that question." But because the person went to great lengths to hide his or her identity, it's still difficult to know for sure, he says.

I think that first word of his response is the answer to that question...

Just bringing this over from the media thread with today's date.
"This case is far from stalled" per LE. Even though it feels like it at times, good to know.

Johnson says that Missy's family members "are not a focus of the investigation. And that's not double-talk; it's very much not. But one thing I will not say is that anybody is eliminated. I want to stop short on that."

ETA- interesting comment while also saying it may have been an untargeted "hit." Leaves the playing field wide open (and frustrating).

I would love to know exactly what Chief Johnson said because I am always leery when quotes are taken out-of-context. And an "untargeted hit" is quite the oxymoron! What is meant by that? Isn't a hit targeted by its very nature?

Also, for a person who believes that MB's affairs create a "tarnished memory," MT sure doesn't seem to shy away from the subject. And neither does KS. My heart goes out to MB's girls.

Does it bother anyone else that she says "um" a lot? I have never heard someone talk like that. JMO
Seems kinda odd is all.

yes and no, I know a few people who say "um" a lot. It can be for various reasons, one manager in our group just said it unconsciously as a thinking connector. All the time, every meeting, um, um, until you started counting them. She was video taped one time heard herself and took care of the bad habit. Some people do it because they are nervous, or they use it while thinking. Yes it bugs me, is it that odd, no a lot of people do it.

Maybe the hotel shuttle took them to the car rental co at the airport. :)

There could be a host of reasons why they are quiet, in my opinion.

I look at what is being said about Brandon's side of the family, which some of it hasn't been kind. The accusations are horrible!

Why would anyone want to subject themselves to all that negativity?

It is sad that Missy is deceased. It is sad that she was murdered. That's a lot to digest right there without the scrutiny of negativity from

the general public.

IMOO.

Not telling anyone what to post or not to post, but I'm just going to make an observation. Make of it what you will.

Have you noticed that the discussion right now is almost exclusively centered on BB? Despite LE just reiterating that the family are not suspects, and even going so far as to say, "that's not double speak" ?

It's an interesting dynamic. The overwhelming number of posters in this forum believe that MB was targeted, and judging by all the negative posts about family, I have to believe that most in the "targeted" camp feel that family was somehow involved.

This, despite the fact that LE goes out of their way to make clear that family is all but eliminated, and in fact LE is now coming back around full circle to "untargeted hit".

Regardless of what camp you're in - why do you think the "targeted by family" camp is so popular?

I find it really odd that BB mentioned he had just warned her to be careful. That’s, IMO, is an attempt to blame Missy or throw shade. An “I told her so.” If he were acutely worried about safety, would he leave MB and the kids to go fishing? If I were concerned about my partner’s safety, that would extend to my kids, and I wouldn’t be travelling. I also don’t think most women have the strength to maneuver in that uniform, carry tools, murder someone who could have put up a good fight (something I think was anticipated), and quickly escape. I believe padding was worn by SP not just as a disguise, but also to avoid being bruised/ injured in case of a police interview or other unwelcomed observations.
The doors were perhaps left open to perhaps provide a trap in case MB sought refuge? Perhaps doors being open and any broken glass/drywall might intrigue MB enough to check it out, near a waiting SP? Perhaps SP was looking for a good place to commit the act, checking for cameras in the rooms. I think the “weak looking” hammer hit to the window was part of the ruse. That certainly rules out a robber IMO. The low energy hit was an energy saver for what was coming. Unlike many of you, I have not focused on the layout of the church, so I might be way off in this area.

MY THOUGHTS TO MAINELY16'S ABOVE POST:
(The box around Mainely16's post above is missing! Oops.)
Very intriguing. I would differ on the "I told her so" attitude by BB, though. I didn't pick that up at all. It seemed like it was just a word of caution.
"And doors being open....might intrigue MB"? I wouldn't expect that kind of bravery. BUT, then again, maybe she did talk herself into ignoring any trepidation she may have in wanting to check out everything before her students arrived.
(Since she was found in the SW corner off-camera it does narrow down her location).

When I read a transcript and see all the uhs and ums, it looks bizarre. But when I hear the voice, I hardly notice them at all. My family says uh, uhm, huh a lot. So it's less noticeable to me when I hear it.

Demeanor, motive, and means.

It actually creates an unfair bias against the person being quoted, when you transcribe um and uh etc. it makes it seem like the person is an idiot or has something to hide.

Notice that in all print media, they leave out anything like uh or um.

is Steve Moore FBI-retired on this case or was he just a guest on the show?

I can't say for sure 100%, but I think he was just a consultant for the show, not speaking on behalf of the agency.

Generally means nothing except that you haven't had a lot of speech training.

Demeanor, motive, and means.

Demeanor - so by rule, we are unable to observe the demeanor of an unidentified subject. We can't sleuth them or else it's very difficult to do so. So we focus our energies on those we CAN more easily sleuth, like family - whose names we can know and whose sound bites we can dissect.

Motive - has there been a great motive advanced to go along with target by family? Not life insurance money. Not a divorce in process. Not a current affair that we know of. So what's the compelling motive?

Means - by means you're talking about method/opportunity? Seems like pretty much anybody could take a hammer and go break into a rural location and kill someone. That doesn't say to me, "She could have only been killed by someone she knew".

And let me ask this question. If someone broke into that church specifically to kill someone, wouldn't they make a beeline for the area where they plan to do the kill, so they can rehearse it so to speak in their heads, do a walk-thru, etc? Why break in, spend several minutes in the kitchen on the opposite end of where you need to be, then casually make your way SW with no sense of urgency whatsoever when you can't be sure what time she's going to arrive?

Doesn't really matter who LE has all but eliminated. Until such time as they are officially cleared by LE, we're allowed to discuss POIs (within the forum rules - whether we agree there was involvement or not).

As far as the dynamic... I can only speak for myself, but it's possible others feel more comfortable discussing their thoughts now that Tricia has spelled things out after the break - making it clear that attempted intimidation, disruptions, silencing tactics won't be tolerated on the forums.
