Is this considered obstruction of Justice? Just because he was not present for the deed doesn't mean he cannot be charged with something, right?

I would think so. If he is withholding any info relating to a crime or cover up of a crime.

Thanks for posting that link! I was unaware that CBS7 had a livestream option now. They were bought out from a local man (John Bushman) in the last year or so, by a national company. So they must have stepped up their game [emoji6] This is much better than a cell phone video.

I don't find the fact that the boyfriend has gotten a lawyer a problem. I know of innocent people the police have shown no mercy with and still didn't clear them. I know nothing of the interaction between the sheriff and the boyfriend prior to getting a lawyer. The fact that the boyfriend has not participated in searches is understandable as I have read of cases where LE doesn't what family members searching (Sierra Lamar case?) or persons of interest searching in other cases. If a boyfriend or husband finds something it is immediately suspicious. Besides, why give a suspect an out if a body is found and they find some trace of him in the area. His lawyer can say how do we know he didn't just walk through that area and not see the body. And there have been cases where the searchers were in the right area and then months later a hunter or hiker finds the remains so it could be a valid argument. No, I wouldn't want him out there.

What bothers me is his neighbor's information about hearing an argument and then something - or someone - hitting the floor or wall. And trying to get the car cleaned?!?! It's not looking good for the boyfriend.

I do see LE doing things here that I don't see very often. Saying they've looked at persons and cleared them. How many times do we hear LE say, "No one is cleared till there is an arrest." They've searched the boyfriend's apartment and 4 vehicles. And they are being very vocal to the media. Reminds me of Chief Timothy Longo in the Hannah Graham case in Charlottesville VA. Seems like they are doing everything they can to get a resolution and, if need be, an arrest.

I can't find the post, but I thought I read here recently that he did go into Mexico with his mother and sister. I think there was a link attached? Anyone remember this? Can you repost that?

CE is getting squeezed so he'll talk. He probably didn't DO anything, but probably KNOWS something, as was mentioned a few posts back. I hope he comes through and tells what he knows ... before it's too late to save himself.
I agree. I think the police have found their weak link. If he doesn't already, CE is going to have the realization that the gig is up, and he should save himself. When mouths finally start opening, the fingers will point the blame in every direction. He seems like the type of person who wants to do the right thing, but isn't quite sure what to do just yet.

IIRC it has just just been posted in comments on FB. There was a search in Redford by LE which is on the Rio Grand River that separates Texas and Mexico. And that is fact.

I don't remember it being in any of the media coming out of our area (Midland / Odessa), but I've seen in it mentioned several times in the comments on the news Facebook pages. The people commenting that information mostly seem to be local to the Alpine area. I would, personally, consider it reliable information coming from a town that size, and where most everyone is on the side of the missing Zuzu.

Police were searching throughout Brewster County with “a lot of concentration in Redford in Presidio County,” the Facebook post said. Redford is about two hours south of Alpine on the west end of Big Bend Ranch State Park.

Sorry. I'm meaning that I haven't seen it in the media where he went across into Ojinaga, or elsewhere in Mexico. With the news outlets from Midland / Odessa (We're about 2 hours from Alpine.), that trip has only been mentioned in the comments as far as I know.

Interesting, they stated if you wanted to see the search warrants in their entirety to visit their website, but I cannot find them there.

I can't find them either. I wish Todd Unger (who is in Alpine and works for WFAA) would release them. He said WFAA obtained them exclusively. In the video on WFAA, you can see a set of 5 documents but can't make any of it out.

Don't we wish all WS threads moved as fast as this one! Hat's off once again to Texas LE. When these ol' boys (and gals) saddle up, they get down to business!

As far as some of the supporting "cast members" in this sad tale, I think I hold RF's mother in the most disdain, if what I'm deducing is accurate. I expect more from a mother.
And then there is the mustang driving best friend. If he has any brain cells working, he will be attempting to work a deal with the DA in exchange for testimony. What a sorry crew these alleged Perps are. Such strong contrast to the rest of the community in Alpine who have cast a bright light in an otherwise dark situation.

I asked on the LE Facebook page and someone told me to call the PD and ask for them. I dont mind doing that in the morning - IF - it will work. Thoughts?

Never hurts to ask. JMO. All they can say is no.

you probably have to make a FOIA request and you may have to pay money, so I'd email Todd Unger instead. JMO
