So what makes this guy like catnip for women, surely it cannot be just for meetings at this dreary looking and aptly named (with a Y instead of an S in its name) inn?
im, speculation.

''Her cause of death was a brain injury caused by compression of the neck, a post-mortem examination found.

A jury took just under three hours to find the ex-Dorset Police officer not guilty of murdering Mrs Parry.''
They would have been better off at the pub three doors down. Much more secluded.

Later this afternoon, Mrs Parry's devastated widower Andrew Parry condemned Brehmer for being 'the worst kind of thief', claiming he told 'lie after lie' and shed 'crocodile tears' during the trial.

[...]

After hearing the statements, judge Mr Justice Jacobs adjourned sentencing until tomorrow. He is considering whether to sentence Brehmer on the basis of accidental and unlawful manslaughter or manslaughter due to a 'loss of control' which would have been triggered by Mrs Parry sending the 'I'm cheating on you' text .

I mean i know all the "we didn't sit through the evidence stuff" but I am very much struggling with this

He described the incident as a 'kerfuffle', claiming he 'fell on top of her by accident more than anything' and his arms must have 'slipped up' around her neck while he was behind her in a 'piggy-back position'.

Brehmer sobbed as he told jurors: 'I'm responsible for her death. I must have [used too much force]. I absolutely did not want to kill her or cause serious bodily harm. I didn't intend to kill her.'

These kind of issues also arose in the Grace Millane case, and it does speak to the need for specific legislation on choking/strangling.

It seems strange to be able to argue that while intentionally strangling/choking someone, you didn't want to cause serious bodily harm, except in very limited consensual circumstances, which don't apply in this case.

Anyone knows that working on someone's neck like this is dangerous. Had he punched her and she fell and hit her head on the ground - that can be murder. Yet seemingly this kind of physical assault can skirt around murder, even though he inflicted fatal injuries

Ms Martin said Brehmer was telling the truth and he should be sentenced based on his plea.

She said the struggle in the car was not one that carried a high risk of death or serious injury.

I take issue with this. It's such minimizing language, to call it a struggle, even if the jury accepted his version and not the version that he intentionally strangled her while not in control.

And holding a person's neck with so much force that three bones break, the windpipe moves, and there is deep muscle bruising, and for so long (10 to 30 seconds is long if you imagine that action and watch the clock tick by), clearly carries a risk of death or serious injury. Her jaw was moving which shows she wasn't unconscious, she was fighting for her life. I don't accept she would have been fighting to stay in the car while he killed her. I don't think the jury gave it enough time, but perhaps the expert witnesses didn't do a good enough job.

Brehmer was acquitted of murder yesterday.

"It is no surprise that her parents spoke of their pride in her achievements and proud of the untold number of lives she helped to prove and save.

"Your actions have stolen the childhood and the life her children should have enjoyed with their mother."

9:42am

"It is clear from the evidence Claire Parry had had enough of you."

9:44am

"This is a case where I should sentence on you that you lost your self control following the message that was sent to your wife, rather than you unintentionally killing Mrs Parry.

"I am sure that you did deliberately take Mrs Parry by the neck."

"You expressed no surprise when Mrs Bartlett said the woman in the car appeared to be dead.

"Your statement at the scene that you were going to prison for a long time might reflect the fact that you knew full well what you had done.

"You were crying because you appreciated the enormity of what you had done and the impact it would have on you."
