Police seem to believe that they are camping in Sussex but admit that they need to hear from someone who has seen the family since the 8th January
They also say that the family must be low on cash. I wonder if the police had an idea of how much money they had to begin with or are just guessing.
All those taxis must have been hundreds.

Up north, 4 hours+ up north from Sussex, there has been a blue tent pitched by a very busy A Road for at least 3 weeks. I would imagine someone would have reported it by now and it would have been noted by passing police. I won't need to call it in will I?
I would...just in case. I'm starting to wonder if the baby is even still alive given the cold temperatures it has been exposed to for the past month. Also the fact that the buggy was dumped in London a month ago and on the latest CCTV footage in Sussex, where is the baby? Admittedly the picture is at night time so it could possibly be wrapped up inside CM's clothes. I do not have a good feeling about the outcome here but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

This is what I dont get. If the media know they're in a certain sussex forest then for goodness sake the police need to send a team out to search it and get this case closed.
It's not 'case closed' though - far from it...if theyre on the run because they are scared, then being found would be terrifying for them and cause a whole load of issues with MH and legalities and all sorts IYSWIM, MOO etc. Wherever they think the couple are, they know they've got to tread carefully, tactfully and safely. You can't like my posts about Constance's physical health (newly postpartum) and then also imply that they're bad parents and it's case closed by presumably the baby being taken from them. I remember at the start of the thread you said you had a newborn, congratulations. Tact is really really important though!

Just catching up with this and this is my first post ever so I hope I won't break any rules. I lived in Haringey up until the end of January and I'm familiar with the area.
The Haringey Ladder is a multicultural area, home to Turkish diaspora. I wouldn't even notice a couple like them in the community.
There are 4 train stations within approximately 10 minutes' walk in each direction, Hornsey, Wood Green, Haringey Green Lanes and Finsbury Park.
Down the road, where Seven Sisters Road meet Green Lanes is Manor House. This area is known for the warehouse community, basically massive warehouses converted to shared houses, popular with artistic, creative people who don't wish to stay in conventional housing.
Green Lanes is busy 24h, full of family-owned restaurants and small shops that welcome cash paying customers and charity shops in every block where you can source baby clothes.
But most importantly Green Lanes has many private doctors that cater for people who (for whatever reason) don't have access to the NHS services. (Just speculating) Allison Road makes great sense if they were looking for medical assistance and/or shelter. Right on the corner of Allison Road and Green Lanes is the very popular Medi Park Clinic. They offer Gynecology and Pediatrics appointments. I've never used private medical services in the UK, so I don't know how this works. Just opposite the clinic there is a church that always has something going on, from soul kitchen events to community BBQs to handing over supplies for the homeless.
I guess my point is that they could have stayed in Haringey without being noticed for quite some time, it's unlikely they would stand out in this area. Also, plenty of solicitors in Green Lanes if someone is looking for legal advice.

I hope the links work, I'm not sure how to do this.

An example of short-term warehouse accommodation

Curious the Meridien are mentioning Ashdown Forest when no other news outlets are and there is nothing about this from Met or Sussex Police. Did someone let slip to a journalist? Looking at map and timeline, Ashdown Forest is feasible so too is Dover though which would fit with previous modus operandi.

My theories:
<modsnip>
She knows the area - interestingly East Grinstead is known as the cult capital of the UK and Forest Row has a large New Age community
Police have employed drones and conclude Forest cover would be a likely option having not found them.

I don't think they will be part of any community, or will have asked for any help from anyone at all. They seem to have lived a very isolated life, with no friends, cut off from everyone and I think this is how they are living now - in total isolation. I don't think they have anyone in their lives that they can ask for help. They may not even be aware of news reports, and just know that they don't want to be found, for whatever reason, perhaps reasons that exist in their own imaginations. I wouldn't be at all surprised if all the supposed money has gone, or what's left is buried in a field somewhere. <modsnip - not victim friendly>

(edited to apologise - will be more mindful/thoughtful when referring to victims)

I agree on the living in a community. Too risky IMO if details of the money reward are known.
One thing I keep wondering about is their phone usage. Do they have a burner phone they use for calls only, no phone or a smartphone? How are they recharging if camping on their own? Can they even get a signal? If they have no phone, are they aware that the police is looking for them?

I've wondered that too. It is not like they had the time to plan, so unless their geography is pretty hot then they would find it difficult to plan cross country routes and places to stay. I expect they'll have seen newspaper headlines. Mark's advantage is there are not many pictures of him and those we have are not good quality. I expect he runs the errands. Getting enough water and food is their achilles heel, no matter how much money they may have.

When a woman went missing in my city, i started a thread for her and really hoped for the best. At that time a drive we had to take, took us around a busy street which wound through a creepy sort of rundown cemetery.
There was an old bike i noticed tucked at the side of the road, but thought no- not everything i see relates to what goes on in my Ws life, ignore.
Well imagine as i updated the thread to report that the missing person's body was found in that very cemetery after her abandoned bike was located, yup the same one i saw and chose to dismiss. fwiw.

very interesting post thank you

I was reading the latest articles and a thought occurred to me re birth in vehicle and I remembered my training days and discussions with midwives. They used to talk about uses for the placenta. These midwives specialised in home deliveries and had permission from the mothers to take the placentas.
One used to put it on her rose bed.
I am NOT recommending this practice.
So I got to wondering whether the alternative health communities have present day recommendations for placentas. I googled and I do not recommend this search because I'm queasy.

Anyway, long story short and I wonder whether police only found the placenta and no other evidence of childbirth and whether the baby could be older and the parents had retained it for whatever reasons of their own.
It doesn't help with finding them, just another possibility.

I think cash would probably be more easy to get by living off grid. If you know of taxi drivers and local shops which take Bitcoin then fair enough, I don't.
I'm sorry, I am not in the U.K., in Canada, there are local shops, petrol stations, and cabs that take cryptocurrency and there are over 250 cryptocurrency ATMs in my city alone. I made a presumption it was the same in the U.K.

I've seen Newhaven, Eastbourne and Crawley mentioned over the last 5 days. I know Id notice a random blue tent pop up if out on my travels. Lets face it, its likely going to be somewhat close to local amenities/footpaths for convenience.
I'm originally from Crawley. They could be camping out there and no one would take a blind bit of notice. It wouldn't be unusual

It's widely used in every country but I have no clue about it.
Almost invariably used for black market purchases of all kinds.

Good point. I know so little about bitcoin, it hadn't occurred to me. How does it work in terms of turning it into a currency that can be spent?
I'm not that clued up about cryptocurrency either but I know in the past few years (driven by isolation and lockdowns) it has become a more common way to pay. I've seen signs in local independent stores saying they take it as payment and after a very quick search I found the location of over 250 ATMs where you can withdraw cash from Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I also know some cab drivers will accept it.
But I am in Canada and not the UK, so I'm not sure what its like there. From another quick search, it seems you can get a debit card kind of card for your cryptocurrency too.
Maybe someone else with more knowledge can help here?
