He was probably checking to see if there was a JCB or similar outside.

brilliant - and so true

Moll - excellent letter to the Times and thank you, because after making a special journey to buy it yesterday I was very disappointed by the lazy journalism. They clearly had not followed the case throughout as we had and the report contained far too much of IS' version of events. I also didn't like the unproven embellishments - ie that he put the Zopiclone in scrambled eggs (as I've said umpteen times, my experiment proved to me he did not put that bitter tablet in food or drink but doctored her supplements). I also thought the bit about Boris being lured to the cesspit with a dog toy and following Helen into it, 'loyal to the end', was speculative and distasteful.
Re the personalised number plate I didn't know IS bought one, but I have read that Helen gave her late husband JS' number plate to Jamie Stewart.
A thought occurred to me this morning and I hope I'm wrong. It's the way Jamie and Oliver Stewart were escorted to their waiting car yesterday. As I mentioned before, I know from my stint on the NoW they will have been aggressively targeted by all the tabloids and offered big money for the exclusive rights to their story. It is possible they have taken the dosh, and we'll see a big centre spread interview with them somewhere over the weekend. Any tabloid is possible but my bet's the Mail. I will sit tight and see but if they have done this, I will lose a lot of sympathy for them.
That part is about before marriage not after.
Yep. I will go back to sleep.

His girlfriend said he only went to the passport office April 12th, the day after Helen went missing so I assumed it might be a last minute trip rather than long planned.
I'm not saying anything- just speaking generally of young people and their plans. I can't know whether he saved up or not, just that that would generally be the case. Mind you, I can't see IS lavishing his miser's hoard on anyone but himself. I don't think that getting a passport late is necessarily indicative of much- not everybody is terribly well-organised at that age.

Re the play money. Did he not buy himself a new/newishbBMW with a private number plate. It looks like a BMW X3 which are not cheap and would likely have swallowed up a large amount of his play money. Though it is possible he may not have bought a brand new one. I couldn't make out the number plate on the photos we have seen.
Good thinking Dolly. Do you think they would have got to them that quickly though? I can't remember, was the footage from verdict day or sentencing day?
"I am expecting to marry IAN STEWART (Ian). My marriage to him does not revoke this will. This will is effective even if I die before marrying Ian."
But that phrase (in bold) is completely redundant, surely. It doesn't need to be there.

Just a note to other people too that I'm sorry if my dashchund avatar and pics make people sad. Yes this has been an awful and tragic case but I want to remember the tremendous and magical bond between an inspiring lady and her doggy and her witty writing. I want to remember the good and positive things not just the awful way their lives ended. *Hugs Cherwell*
"Expecting to marry" is an interesting choice of words too in hindsight isn't it. Rather than "I will be" or anything more definite. "Expecting" is exactly what she was doing , she was expecting to marry IS whereas IS had no intention of marrying her. The clause she didn't add was what would happen if they split up before the wedding.
Oh yes, the tabloids will have been onto the sons weeks ago and their big money offer will have stipulated it was for an exclusive and that they must not speak about the trial/tell their story elsewhere. The cynic in me says this may partly explain the brevity of their post-verdict statement. But as I say, I hope I am wrong.
Guess we'll see on Sunday. Maybe their mother's death being an active case will restrict what they can say though.Or maybe they can talk about everything except that. I'm doubting that they will have sold their story though. From their statements there didn't seem to be any great bond with Helen, one even commented how the house wasn't the same without Boris, without mentioning Helen. So maybe their lack of statement about Helen is a case of if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.
Yes, that is an interesting word. The usual term is in contemplation of, which is a bit more definite.
