Who's next, I wonder? They won't be getting him up today, will they?

I think he managed to worm his way in at a time when Helen was vulnerable . He offered her practical and emtional support and she was grateful for his kindness.Remember he was sorting out the drains at her old house and also saying how together they could get through anything and it would be OK in the end OWTTE. He was providing for her needs at that time.

Yeah i agree but what about the other people who said he's a lovely man.... he's definitely not clever enough to hide his true character.

Unlikely....

in a way it is good ( although awful for the poor juror ) that Friday's evidence, as was, has been heard today....
nice and fresh in the juror's minds, as has been said

What's the bets the jury have already decided.....? Even the defence questions don't seem to help him any....

Utterly shocked today by how unbelievably stupid and arrogant he is.

I'm finding it extremely difficult to see how this man would be clever enough to hide his true character from anyone with a bit of savvy about them. I could see immediately from his FB posts his reaction wasn't right or normal, same with a lot of these defence witnesses e.g. The psych staff.

Is it possible that people are just intrinsically trusting? That it wouldn't be strange to some people the way he speaks and behaves, where to others it's like a massive warning sign? I just don't know....

Bold.
Remember the community psychiatric nurse Sarah Touhey 's evidence? She was taken in, IMO . Plus the other psychiatrist who was useful for the Defence.

Here it is

October 1, 2014

A law that makes it easier for families to deal with the affairs of people who are missing and presumed dead comes into force in England and Wales on Wednesday.

Very interesting time - just after the Will and just before LPA

Maybe he does the same kind of thing. Offers to help with things. Some people do it to be nice, some do it to manipulate.

What is this referring to? Because we know IS was on SOME computer (or phone internet) during that period when he was making those forum posts I linked here awhile ago.

“We used specialist software to recover data that has been deleted or is no longer held - this flagged up activity on April 11, which seemed strange because there was no indication of any user activity between April 9 - April 15. “There was evidence of substantial user activity on these dates, but this was no longer available or had been deleted.”

Court hears from Helen Bailey's GP

Satements are now being read. The first two relate to medical matters relating to Helen Bailey. The first is from GP Theresa Leighton, who worked at a health centre in Royston. She made a statement relating to the medical records of Helen Bailey. “Helen joined the Royston health centre in October 2013. “She saw a practice nurse on the day she registered. She said she had just moved to the area with her long term partner to start a new life. “She registered because she was concerned she had a urine infection. “She did not like to take antibiotics but she was given some.”

Author did not take medication regularly

“The second consultation was with me in January 2015, when she complained of sore throat. “She did not take any medication regularly, did not have any allergies and did not smoke.”

Helen Bailey 'anxious about getting old' - doctor

A statement from Dr Janet Donaldson said on January 28, 2016 she conducted a ‘well woman assessment’ on Helen Bailey. “Helen was suffering hot flushes and disturbed sleep. “It seemed Helen was dealing with signs of the menopause. “She felt anxious about getting old, she was worried about talking to her GP about this and being put on medication which she didn’t like taking. “Other than this I thought Helen was fit and well.” Helen had regular assessments since January 1990, which showed that Helen was fit and well.

When i looked at the sequences it just became really clear that he would cultivate those professionals who believed him ( and whom he found useful) and wasn't even interested in the rest.

He definitely seems to be able to spot /exploit weakness.

There have been holdups with this I believe. Here is a much more recent article as it is still before Parliament. :

Friend says author had felt her relationship was moving too fast

In a statement, Sarah Sharp, a friend of Helen Bailey, said she had known Helen since she was nine years old. “We both went to university and we kept in touch. She came to my wedding, we kept in touch around birthdays and Christmases. “I knew Helen’s first husband John had passed away while on holiday with Helen in 2011. “I then knew she met Stewart online. “At first Helen was very wary of moving on to a new relationship. “I invited them to celebrate my 50th in 2014, and this is when I met Stewart for the first time. “He seemed very quiet and was always at Helen’s side. “It was around this time that they moved in together. Stewart had two sons from his first marriage, Helen didn’t have her own children and found it hard to adjust living in a house with boys altogether. I do know the boys got on well with Helen. She sometimes said her relationship was moving too fast, but this quietened down.”

How awkward for Helen, that she had to be the one to contact the jeweller to talk about costs.

IS was meant to be buying the ring/s..... he should have been dealing with the prices, if he wanted to negotiate

eta ZaZara's post says it better than me

I don't believe for a moment IS had agreed to pay for the rings without a sizeable contribution - probably at least half - from Helen. That he is not even dealing with the jeweller himself speaks volumes. He had plenty of money - a decent man of his means who loved Helen would have been only too happy to take charge and sort out the ring for her. I hate to say it, but poor Helen was excusing/misinterpreting a lot of signs that IS was not the man for her. She could not possibly have known he was a killer - but he was not in love with her and I think alas many women wilfully ignore uncomfortable truths about the man they have invested such high hopes in.

Tortoise - I hope your kitty is OK, sending you positive energy. X

He's just so stupid I can't believe it. He's covered his tracks with giant neon signs that say 'IT WAS ME I KILLED HER' as far as I'm concerned....

Hooray, looks as if there is a God after all. I'd hoped for more really but for a good while have been praying that prosecution would bring in facts like this right at the end. Looks like he's well and truly sh*fted himself!

The Bill had it second reading on 3rd February 2017 and next comes the Committee Stage - dates not fixed as yet. You can read all about it here, together with the actual contents (pdf).

http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2016-17/guardianshipmissingpersons.html

This bit is especially interesting assuming there is no conflict:-

(4) There is not a conflict between the proposed guardian’s interests and the missing person’s interests merely because the proposed guardian—(a) is the missing person’s spouse, civil partner, parent, child, sibling orother relative,(b) was living with the missing person immediately before that person became a missing person, or(c) may benefit from being appointed as guardian, whether directly orindirectly.

Ian Stewart told friend of Helen Bailey that her disappearance was 'confusing'

“When Helen went missing I found out via media reports that her and Stewart had got engaged. On April 17, 2016 I received messages from our daughters stating that Helen had been reported missing. I started to look at the news and Facebook trying to find out more about what had happened. “I text Stewart the same day, saying I was worried about Helen. He replied ‘thanks for contact, no leads, this is all so confusing’. “I asked what Helen’s mood was like when she left. I asked whether she needed time out. “I said I was here for support, he said thanks. “I asked him if they were engaged, he said they were, and they were having trouble finding a venue.”

my comment - I think the only part that confused IS was why people were making a fuss and trying to find Helen

Friend thought Helen Bailey would 'emerge'

On April 24, Sarah Sharp text Stewart to say: “I was very disturbed to read about the cess pit being drained, as I’m sure you would be. “Could she be back in London? “He replied ‘no news, except a possible sighting. I’m all over the place, don’t really know what I’m doing.” On May 1 I said I was in Norfolk, and had half hoped Helen had come over here for an escape. I’m sure Helen will suddenly emerge and know what all the fuss is about. He replied ‘Just about coping. No news at all’. On June 28 I again asked if there was any news. He said ‘hi, no news at all, not coping well, mind is in a mess, police still active but not here every day’.

just cant help himself can he - Helen's the missing person, but it's all about him

The fragment was to do with the financial transaction, not the tiredness comments.

I don't understand the intricacies of what happens when computers are wiped. Are you saying that you may only get fragments of, say, browsing history or some other things but are able to get a lot of info re searches?
