Friend spent more time with Helen Bailey after author's husband died

A statement will now be read from Lisa Wilson, who had known Helen for 10 years. “She bought a holiday home in Broadstairs with John Sinfield, we were opposite. “Helen and John were a lovely couple and we all got on well. Helen also had connections in London, as did I, so we would sometimes meet up and go walking. “We spent more time together after she lost John. “I never saw her go to Broadstairs on her own. One time she asked me how difficult it was to get a train there with the dog. “I told her it was easy, but she was very much a taxi girl.”

Ah, and IS would have known this of course, re the train. No wonder he was touting the Jeep story.

I don't believe for a moment IS had agreed to pay for the rings without a sizeable contribution - probably at least half - from Helen. That he is not even dealing with the jeweller himself speaks volumes. He had plenty of money - a decent man of his means who loved Helen would have been only too happy to take charge and sort out the ring for her. I hate to say it, but poor Helen was excusing/misinterpreting a lot of signs that IS was not the man for her. She could not possibly have known he was a killer - but he was not in love with her and I think alas many women wilfully ignore uncomfortable truths about the man they have invested such high hopes in.

Tortoise - I hope your kitty is OK, sending you positive energy. X

I agree with you totally DD, it isn't a criticism of Helen, I think she would have thought of her own doubts as a failing of her own, unfortunately. It takes hard work to recognise it and trust oneself, for some.

And thank you, she's drowsy but in recovery.

Ooh Ouch !!

Done and dusted.

Helen Bailey encouraged to go on a date with Ian Stewart

Lisa Wilson said she encouraged Helen to go out on a date with Stewart, and not to worry about what other people think. “We were friends but we were never the best of friends. “Helen started to date Stewart. I assumed she was moving on. “I first met Stewart when she brought him to Broadstairs a few years ago. “Over the years I noticed Helen wasn’t the same as she had been, for example Helen would arrive in Broadstairs and rush inside. “Before (with John) she would be very visible and text me to know she was there. “She would pop over to mine in Broadstairs, our dogs would play together. “She appeared more reserved and less sociable. There are times we would bump into each other, Stewart never seemed like he wanted to make the effort with us. “The last time I saw Helen was February 2016. She appeared really happy, she bought one of my paintings and was in a good mood. Stewart didn’t socialise much or make himself known.”

no surprises here

What is this referring to? Because we know IS was on SOME computer (or phone internet) during that period when he was making those forum posts I linked here awhile ago.

“We used specialist software to recover data that has been deleted or is no longer held - this flagged up activity on April 11, which seemed strange because there was no indication of any user activity between April 9 - April 15. “There was evidence of substantial user activity on these dates, but this was no longer available or had been deleted.”

He deleted his web history. E.g. What he'd been searching for and reading online.

It is appearing like he was too stupid to do that.... I wonder if the O2 attempts to get into PayPal were from another phone he had bought. Maybe a cheap pay and go he could chuck away ...

Oh yes, I think the O2 phone has to be him - it screams of him having purchased an untraceable pay-as-you-go phone with cash. A shame there's no CCTV of him in a Carphone Warehouse handing over £20 for that phone! But today the evidence is all screaming his guilt - it's poetry in motion to witness and I have to say the defence lawyer popping up every now and then to ask irrelevant questions of strong prosecution witnesses like the social worker is wonderfully farcical!

Ian Stewart told Helen Bailey's friend she was missing

“On April 14 John Bailey (Helen’s brother) attended Helen’s home in Broadstairs and asked if I had been there. “He said she was missing. “On April 15 Stewart phoned, told me Helen was missing and that he needed the number for the Broadstairs cleaner. “On April 21 about 1pm Stewart called me again. He asked if the police had been in contact with me yet, as they wanted to keys for the Broadstairs address.”

so he had the neighbours tele number. He could have easily called and checked re Helen, even before JB went down there - and, just re reading this, it seems that the neighbour held spare keys !! no excuse whatsoever for not phoning her and asking her to go into the cottage to check, make sure Helen was ok

Good news to hear that Kitty is out of Surgery - and hopefully shall be home soon, Tortoise.

Helen would have blamed herself, and her lack of being able to 'move beyond' her loss of JS, for any doubts she had in her feelings towards IS.

The fragment was to do with the financial transaction, not the tiredness comments.

I don't understand the intricacies of what happens when computers are wiped. Are you saying that you may only get fragments of, say, browsing history or some other things but are able to get a lot of info re searches?

JJ, are you perhaps confusing the two computers. The searches re tiredness were made by Helen on her computer. Everything else refers to activity on IS's computer.

Yes, I think they were saying that the bank logs details of the time, date and data which can identify the specific device used to access an account. They were able to confirm that the device matched using the identifying data but that they were unable to find a correlating history on the device. Meaning they had proof that the device had been intentionally cleared of its history; not just that it hadn't been used.

On a secondary note... GOTCHA. I've just caught up and am thrilled that everything we knew about him is being proven today. What a great day for justice!

They won't let him get away with it, Helen. :rose:

There we go, there's the way the sociopath works, by isolation, the change in Helen's behaviour was evident, she did it to please him. Moved to Royston, became less sociable with neighbours.

Thank you Alyce for keeping us updated, and cotton for this morning.

Does anyone remember the dates he asked questions on the computer forums? think that was jsut before and after Helen went missing.

That was my find! I think was 9th and either 13th or 15th off the top of my head.
