Have just double checked.

The total detention is 96 hours for persons who have been arrested.

So the clock is still ticking for these 2 as, so far, they are only arrested on suspicion of murder.

They have had 60 hours so far and must be into the final 36 by now.

At the end of 96 hours ( Thursday night ) the police have to;
charge them,
release them,
or release them on bail.

Does the clock not start again if they are rearrested for a different offence?

They were initially arrested on suspicion of kidnap and then rearrested today on suspicion of murder?

Good point. Tricky one as we dont know what they were originally arrested for ? If it was kidnap and now murder will that be considered as a related charge ? bcos same person, or looked at as different charge ?

Will have to scroll through that website to see

If this is right "It is believed she said she was staying at a friend's but met man, 27, online" LINK DM

Which one is the 27yr old ?

Thanks Alyce and sar, I have to go with hubby to his dentist appt, hold his hand.. I'll be checking in on my phone. Thinking about Kayleigh and her family :(

IMBW but I don't think they can start the clock again. That would be too open to abuse.

I'm thinking back to this stage in Becky's murder, as I remember it the 96 hours is from when they were first arrested for kidnap, i.e. the clock didn't start again when they were re arrested.

My laptop died a few weeks ago, and finding things and copying and pasting isn't as easy on my phone, but I will see if I can come up with a link.

Total of 96 hours and no restarting of the clock is what I remember though.

I cant link this tweet, as it is just a general comment ( ie not msm )
but - paraphrasing here ! - there is a comment that the helicopter is up over Belton, just now.
So looks as though they have not found Kayleigh yet, very sad

Up to 96 hours
•
Under s.43 PACE police can apply to a Magistrates’
Court for a WofFD. This warrant can authorise detention for periods up to 3
6 hours.
Under s.44 warrants authorising further periods of detention may
be granted up to a maximum of 96 hours from when relevant time started.

CHANGES
This is now an absolute maximum of 96 hours from the point
when the person arrived at the police station and relevant time commenced.
For example, if a person arrived at a police station at 7am on Monday,
relevant time ends 96 hours later at 7am on Friday
morning. There is no longer any ability to extend this period

UNLESS THERE IS NEW EVIDENCE JUSTIFYING A FURTHER ARREST

BBM

There is more at this link

So possibly they can continue after 96 hours if they have new evidence. Let's hope they get everything they need to charge or clear these men.

ETA just thinking about wording here

Does A Further Arrest with new evidence mean something different to being ReArrested for the same situation - even though the rearrest is made on a slightly different basis - ie; was originally abduction/kidnap ? and is now murder.

Kayleigh's Twitter. I was looking for updates and came across it. Not a lot in there.

Sorry for the long/short/fat/thin tweet thingy. Only way I could figure out how to post it on my phone :p

Just seen a tweet that said:

@Ss4eva2010: These two pieces of **** are the 2 arrested for the disappearance of 15yr old KAYLEIGH HAYWOOD in Ibstock. https://t.co/R6PL6SmhiL

Is this allowed why they have both now been named? If not. Please remove , thanks!

Feel for this poor girl & her family [emoji17] what were two men in their late 20s doing meeting a 15 year old girl?

I was wondering if this "undisclosed information" might be DNA samples.

From UK & Eire Database.

<snip>
Now Leicestershire Police have launched a murder inquiry after detectives found her mobile phone and other items.

This - combined with other undisclosed information - has led detectives to believe that Kayleigh has been killed, despite a body not having been found. <snip>

I agree! Even the neighbour said he tried his best to avoid him! Also, the bit where the neighbour said he glared at him from his bedroom window creeped me out. He just sounds very strange.

Yeah I read that. SB having security cameras around his home could be to do with the community nickname that people call him, peado beado. Or along those lines. Sorry if that's not allowed to be said, delete if so. So yeah maybe he was a paranoid sort, thought local kids would vandalise his home or his car/van, or maybe it had happened previously.
