I get a little frustrated that they're "searching for Libby" in those brambles. I get it if they're searching for evidence but not for Libby. Are they expecting to find her alive in there after 11 days?
They could be searching for anything really. Those brambles are like a big net. They might catch things that could have blown in. You'd think if someone dragged a body in there there would be signs of broken brambles in a line.

Im struggling to understanding the UK rules about the LE holding times. Can someone explain the "hold time" / release rules a little better for me. The question I have is lets suppose there were not these additional charges. What would have happened after the time limit was up and they had to let him go. Wouldn't they be able to re-arrest him anyway if they ended up finding additional evidence that pointed to his guilt?

As I understand it is only the maximum of 96 hrs of holding and questioning for abduction that has been used up. They can re-arrest him for abduction but can't question him about it anymore.

I wonder if his phone pings placed him at the park?

In my mind, maybe he said “Look, I’ve got a minicab jusr around the corner...let’s get you home and see about getting you inside (if no keys)”
They drive to her house try to get in front and back unsuccessfully (loud bang) so he says something like, “let’s go smoke a joint in the park while we wait for your room mates to get back.
Things go awry/flashing?/sexual advances/rejection/assault?/aggression?/escape?/persuit...
Can LE place him in that park for a set amount of time because of the geolocation on his phone/car?

· 11.30pm: Taxi from The Welly & dropped of at home but did not enter the property

· 11.40pm : CCTV has Libbey sitting on a bench close to the junction with Haworth Street and Beverley Road, 3 minutes from home . Whilst there, Grey Beard speaks to her. I assume the bench is monitored by CCTV constantly, so this makes last known sighting time accurate.

· 12.09am – Last known sighting

· Minutes later screaming is heard from the park, the cries went on for 15 minutes, they then witnessed a man running from the park.

· After the last confirmed sighting at 12.09am a blood curdling scream was heard and the sound of a gate or door being banged, this would have been about 12.30am, the person reporting this lives within 100 yards of LS

So. 12.09am LS is last seen, at about 12.15 the first of several screams is heard over a 15 minute period, running man is then seen, minutes later the second scream and banging is heard close to LS home.

I honestly hope I am wrong but based on the above, the person screaming, sounds as if they were the victim of a lengthy assault, possibly sexual. I think that person escaped and made of in the direction of Wellesley Avenue, the perp’ then runs to his car and was seen by the first witnesses, he drives after this person and manages to capture the victim again and forces him/her in to his car and this is the second scream & the bang. Question for me is, why not kill immediately, why allow a possible escape, why re-capture. Something tells me this may not have been opportunistic, I think this was planned and LS may well still be alive, and if PR is responsible that would explain why there is little DNA, no kill, no mess.

I think that empty house theory needs looking at.

My last post was a mess of quote/me challenging and editing hasn’t sorted re Boxing Day “fiddling”

He WAS charged for Boxing Day but under voyeurism which will relate to him looking through the window. The victims said that they “saw him with his penis in his hand” when they returned home, didn’t say masturbating.

I'm curious why police are so sure that she will be found near the area of the bench. She was seen getting into a car, which would mean that she could be anywhere including far away from the abduction site. Are police only searching the nearby area because that is the only place they know of right now, or is there another reason why police are certain that she will be near the bench?
Maybe he took a souvenir from that area...maybe they found a necklace or a hair clip or something and he said he found it by that bench and kept it for his wife. Could be anything really couldn’t it. I do find it weird that both parks examined have a bench beside an empty pool nexr to a playground. As if maybe they know a bench by an empty pool or park is significant but even they don’t know why. Or maybe even young lovers making out in those areas reported looking up to see a creepy man sitting on a bench watching them and then running off.

What if the screams were screams of passion. P. was watching from a bench. The lovers spot him. More screaming of a different kind. He runs. Hence report from nearby house.

they initially get 24 hours, if they need more time and the crime is deemed serious they can apply for it to be extended, If they still need more time they can apply for the maximum time of 96 hours, after this they either need enough evidence to charge them or release the, In this case they didn't have the evidence but luckily for them he had committed over crimes, so they could charge for them. If however he had been released they would need substantial new evidence before they could rearrest and start the process again.

Thank you and Lucyrocket. That really helps me understand. I see now why its so important to get as much information as they can during the questioning period.

I'm fairly sure the witness was certain that they weren't screams of passion.

Hi Bos, can you link to the report saying he was charged in court for a 26 Dec incident? I appreciate the police charged him last night with committing voyeurism on that date, but this incident wasn't included in this morning's list of court charges, according to Hull Daily News: Everything that happened when Pawel Relowicz appeared in court

Just guessing, but I think it may be down to the sat nav. We know he had it with him.

They record data on all journeys whether you plan a route or not. (There was a UK case in which a murderous lorry driver was caught out by that)

They should be able to narrow down a search area from that.

That's a good thought and explanation for the search area. Thanks!

Bracken will spring back up pretty easily. I don't often post speculation but I'm wondering IF it was him who was seen wearing shorts, MAYBE he has marks on his legs which are causing them to believe he might have tramped through bracken

PRs crimes seem to follow a pattern or arc explained in great detail in a book called Signature Killers, by Robert D Keppel.

Petty theft > Breaking and entering / burglary > minor sexual crimes > Sexual assault /rape > finally culminating in murder.

I just hope he is an anomaly, or is innocent.

Yeah I think this is important. It's not necessarily 'a sexual assault that went wrong.'

It's also possible he has spent a long time fantasising about an opportunity which finally came up for him. It's also possible that he had already thought about what he would do to get away with it if he ever got the opportunity.

Agreed. Getting anything into the middle of that mass would have to be done by wind or chucking it. Not likely a person in there, I feel :( It'd be awful trying to get a person into those brambles, they prickle and scratch. Hence why the police are using saws/strimmers to cut them.

'We just want information'
A dog walker on the riverbank, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Libby’s family sound like really decent people. She sounds like she had a decent family and Libby herself was a real decent girl.

“It’s horrible to think it’s day 11 now and nothing is happening. We just want information.

“It’s the hope that kills you. You just have to feel for the family.”

When asked about the crime scene tape, the man, in his 50s, said: “When I saw the crime scene go up I though oh my God what have they found, but I understand it’s just to keep people out the way while the police do their job.”

we also know he put her address into his satnav, this i believe was done to throw the police off if he ever needed to, so she gets in his car, he drives to her house at which point he turns off his phone and satnav so is no longer being picked up by gps, he then drives towards home and was picked up by the second cctv, I have put this route in my sat nav and from the first camera to the second based on this takes 9 minutes, ill allow the extra minute for him turning his devices off.
The car in the second cctv is a Corsa not an Astra.
