I very much doubt they were terrified of covid. I think it was a convenient excuse to hide injuries inflicted upon Logan .
I imagine JC,the youth and AW were not hiding away so they did not catch Covid .
Agree.
I believe JC systematically murdered Logan in terms of predator / prey, pathalogically violent dominant men, and dysfunctional dynamics. It may not have even been conscious. Here is my argument.
Logan was not wanted by JC, was not his flesh and blood, non-viable, surplus to requirements. He was an outsider of the 'perfect family' unit of four - JC, JC's baby, AW, and the Youth highly likely being JC's son or nephew. <modsnip>
The only 'tie' Logan had within the unit of four was AW's fondness and motherly bond to Logan, however, that could be quickly diminished using psychological manipulation.
So, JC framed Logan as a direct threat to the survival of the relationship (something delusional AW valued above all else). JC then openly declared Logan a direct threat to the entire family unit using a false claim (of Logan having seen AW and BM in bed kissing).
AW being needy, dependent, and profoundly unreal was easily manipulated - inauthentic people are wide open to coercion (as per the saying 'you can't con an honest man).
The Youth being extremely troubled, subordinate to JC, and in dire need of a family / home or being put in an institution, was fully on board with any wish of JCs and by way of added bonus was a violent . If the Youth was fond of AW he would have also fought above all else to keep JC and AW's relationship together. Having no decent mother of his own, the idea of a mother role in his life would be alluring.
Job done. The detail of who did what, why, when, how, is really quite trivial and redundant. Logan was dead the moment JC decided he wasn't needed.
<modsnip> JC would have felt burdened and tainted by the idea of another man's kid who he doesn't like and doesn't want calling him dad, taking up family resources, taking up AW's time and affection. JC demonised Logan and the whole family came to see him as a symbol of fear, fear of the family breaking down. That fear was weaponised.
I do not feel Logan stood a chance of life in the family unit. If they hadn't killed him or driven him out now, they would have done it soon. There was no way forward for him with them, ever.
The only thing that could have saved Logan is FULL REMOVAL from the family unit. Not even placement with grandmother. He could have been placed with his father, that would have saved him. But, how can social services do such things? It's not possible, it would be like Minority Report? They'd have to use analysis, probability, and speculation to make court orders.
