Virginia McCullough, 35, is charged with the murders of John and Lois McCullough, who were her parents
between August 21, 2018, and September 15, 2023.

At Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday February 9, McCullough wore a black long-sleeve top with shoulder-length blonde hair as she appeared on video link from prison.

She is yet to enter a plea to the charges she faces.

The case is due to be heard by a High Court judge and was pencilled in for May 13, 2024.

Ms McCullough spoke to confirm her name during a hearing that lasted 25 minutes and thanked His Honour Judge Christopher Morgan when she was told she would remain in custody until a further hearing on March 1.

Inquests into the deaths of Lois, 75, and John, 74, were opened on October 10.

The Coroner’s Court heard that Lois had died from “stab wounds to the chest”
and “human remains believed to be” John were found at the same location on September 16.
Mr McCullough’s provisional cause of death was “pending further investigation”.

A woman accused of killing her parents in Chelmsford will face a trial in seven months.

Virginia McCullough, 36, of Pump Hill, is charged with the murders of John and Lois McCullough.

The defendant was not asked to enter a plea and appeared in Chelmsford Crown Court on a video link from prison. Wearing a dark blue outfit with shoulder-length blonde hair, McCullough spoke only to confirm her name.

The hearing, that lasted around 15 minutes, was told that a High Court judge will hear McCullough's trial.
A previous date for a trial has been replaced by a six-week slot in October this year.

Judge Christopher Morgan said: "Miss McCullough your trial is fixed for October 7. You will remain in custody."

ETA: A woman has admitted to murdering her parents four years ago following an investigation led by our Serious Crime Directorate.
Virginia McCullough, 36, killed her father John, aged 70 at the time of his death, and mother Lois, aged 71 at the time of her death, at their home in Pump Hill, Great Baddow.
After carrying out the murders, which she told us took place at some stage in the summer of 2019, she concealed their bodies within the property and continued to live at the address.
To cover her tracks, she told persistent lies about their whereabouts, frequently telling doctors and relatives her parents were unwell, on holiday or away on lengthy trips.
Her actions were uncovered after her parents’ GPs raised concerns over missed appointments in 2023.
An investigation was launched and, on Friday 15 September 2023, officers from our Operational Support Group executed a warrant at the Pump Hill address.
In the moments afterwards, she confessed to poisoning her father with prescription medication and stabbing her mother shortly afterwards.
She went on to admit two counts of murder during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday 4 July.
She will be sentenced at the same court on 10 October.

Thank you @bobbymkii for your diligence following the case

I still find this case amazing. And after so many months, still so little explanation of how she covered up their absence to extended family, acquaintances, and authorities.

I hope we can get more of the backstory.
As a new member I only discovered the case today.
I suppose she could have claimed to neighbours they were in a care home or had moved away for example if the family weren’t close.

It sounds like the McCullough's were an incredibly reclusive bunch. Virginia has 4 older sisters and none of them noticed that their parents were dead for 4 years either

I actually thought the parents were brother and sister at first glance
