The Strava/runner request wouldn't be to rule out footprints in some way in a v specific area? Can't really sort out in my head how that would help but just a thought!!
Not sure they must have their reasons are they trying to rule some evidence out or just in case anyone has anything they have seen.
It really popular for bike riders, runners in that area

"As promised, we wanted to update you regarding the latest with our investigation into the discovery of a body in Havant woodland on Thursday.

We are now in a position to confirm that the body found is that of 16-year-old Louise Smith.

Louise, from the Leigh Park area, was reported missing on Friday 8 May (VE Day).

Formal identification procedures have been completed. Louise’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

We know that this is incredibly upsetting news and we ask that people consider their comments carefully before posting as family and friends of Louise will be reading them and we do not want to cause them any further distress at this extremely difficult time.

Please do not speculate online, if you have any information that you think will help with our investigation, please contact us on 101, quoting 44200163113.

We plan to issue a further appeal regarding our investigation tomorrow."

I couldn’t think of any reason why they would want RUNNERS who use running apps to contact them but now you mention about footprints that makes sense and ties in with the search for trainers! But doesn’t explain why the specific timing! Perhaps Shane’s phone puts him in the location of the thicket around that time!

If the runners give police the log of their route, the police will have an exact timing - if any of them happened to run close to the spot where Louise's body was found, they could then check if the runner saw anyone or anything at that particular point.
Additionally, although this is perhaps less likely, runners do sometimes take photos en route to upload to their blog.

Maybe to narrow down a time when the body was placed there. Louise's body may have been kept a different location and taken there at a later date. JMO

Me and my daughter said this a few days ago because people walk through that thicket all the time! Even through lockdown I think it was fairly busy! There were reports from Hampshire fire and rescue a few days before of fires being started in the thicket! So I’m convinced she was moved there recently!

The more I read about this, the more confused I get!
Will there actually be justice? I'd like to see the evidence..
