A concerned family and the Met Police are appealing for information on a 32-year-old man who was last believed to be in Chingford Mount. Nathan Cole had informed his brother that he was due to attend an event in Camden but was last caught on CCTV at a shop in Highams Park in East London before going missing last Saturday.

The disappearance of the former Bath University graduate has been described as “out of character” with his family stressing that his disappearance was “unprecedented”. Whilst Nathan, who had recently started a job with the finance department at London School of Economics, regularly socialised with friends, he had never previously failed to return home.

Speaking to MyLondon, his dad Eamonn said: “It’s certainly not unusual for Nathan to go clubbing at weekends with friends, he does that quite frequently and has sometimes been out overnight staying with friends. Certainly he has never been missing or out of touch for more than 24 hours when we didn’t know where he was.”

On Saturday (January 21), Nathan had planned to attend a gig with some friends in Camden but never arrived. He had travelled to Higham’s Park in Walthamstow earlier that evening to meet a friend but discovered upon his arrival that his friend was no longer available.

At around 9.30pm, Nathan, who lives with his mum near Ladbroke Grove, contacted his brother to inform him of his intention to go to KOKO in Camden. He was next seen catching a bus from Blackhorse Road, with police believing that he was in the Chingford Mount area between 10pm and 11pm.

Police concerned for welfare of missing man

Detectives searching for missing Nathan Cole are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Nathan, who is 32 and from the Notting Hill area, was last in contact with his family at 21:33hrs on Sat, 21 January in Wandsworth, when he told them he was going to a gig in Camden.

After extensive CCTV enquiries, police have discovered a last sighting of him at 22:46hrs on Saturday, 21 January.

Nathan was seen boarding a 158 bus in Black Horse Road, E17 that was heading north towards Chingford.

Prior to boarding the bus he was recorded buying four cans of lager in a local shop.

Nathan is 5ft 10ins, slim build with brown short hair and wears glasses.

He last seen wearing a light jacket, red scarf and black top, trousers and shoes; he was also carrying a dark rucksack.

Nathan has not been in touch with his family, gone to work and there has been no activity on his phone or bank account.

Specialist search officers have conducted searches in the area he was last seen, but without success.

Detective Sergeant Julie Morrow of the Central West Missing Person Unit, said:

“This is totally out of character for Nathan and both his family and officers are extremely concerned for his welfare. If anyone has any information, or saw Nathan, please contact police.

Any small bit of information could be vital and may save hours of police work by directing officers to where Nathan was last seen.

Lastly my appeal is to Nathan, if you are well then please contact your family who are so very worried about you, or contact officers, you are not in any trouble and we just want to know you are okay.”

I presume they tracked him to E17 through his electronic payments and maybe Oyster, though he may have just used phone for that. It's 6 miles from Camden.

Nathan has not been in touch with his family since then, has not attended work and there has been no activity on his phone or bank account.

Police have discovered that at 10.46pm on the same night Nathan was seen boarding a 158 bus on Black Horse Road in Walthamstow that was heading north towards Chingford.

Prior to boarding the bus, he was seen on CCTV footage buying four cans of lager in a local shop.

So, at 9.30pm he was going to gig, an hour later he is 6 miles from venue going in opposite direction.

Yes, looking at public transport it's a simple journey from Blackhorse Road to Camden. No need to go to Chingford Mount without a reason.

Presuming that's where he taps out, I wonder what happened next. Did he change to an unregistered oyster for whatever reason. When I was a Londonder I had many as I would often forget an oyster and grab a new one. Admittedly that was probably because your couldn't use a contactless card back then.

Not a direct route, would require several changes of bus or train. there is no indication he even made it to Camden. buying drinks in a distant place suggests to me either he was going to meet someone, or due to frame of mind was going off to the big Park at Highams.

CCTV video release, c'mon Nathan, please come home if you able to or make contact. CCTV released of missing man as police fear he 'may have come to harm'

From link:

Met detectives looking for a man who was last seen over a week ago have released new CCTV footage of his last known movements. Nathan Cole, 32, from the Notting Hill area, was seen on CCTV walking along Banbury Road in Walthamstow at 23.17pm on Saturday, January 21.

Police said there have been no further sightings of Nathan since and while officers continue to investigate "all possible lines of enquiry" they are "increasingly concerned that he may have come to harm".

The Met said extensive enquiries have been carried out to confirm Nathan’s movements on the night he was last seen. Advice has been sought from police search specialists and from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. Police have released a timeline of his last known sightings below.

It is believed Nathan had been planning to attend a gig in Camden but he did not end up going. Officers were able to confirm he paid for four cans of lager at a shop in Blackhorse Lane, E17 at 10.05pm before boarding a 158 bus in the direction of Chingford.

At 10.55pm, detectives said he got off the bus outside Walthamstow Academy, close to the junction of Academy Way and Billet Road. He was then picked up on residential CCTV walking along Billet Road around ten minutes later. *At 11.17pm he can be seen on CCTV walking west along nearby Banbury Road in the direction of the River Lea.

While the footage from Banbury Road is the last confirmed sighting of Nathan, officers believe his phone was active in the vicinity of the former Ikea store in Glover Drive, Edmonton at 12.41am on Sunday, January 22. So far there has been no confirmation that Nathan was in possession of his phone at that time.

All not far from the River Lea and the marshes.

We urgently want to hear from anyone who spoke to Nathan on the night he was last seen, anyone who knew of his plans or anyone who knows who he might have been meeting.

No piece of information is too small.

Detective Sergeant Julie Morrow, from the Central West Missing Persons Unit, said: “More than a week has gone by since Nathan’s family had any contact with him. They are obviously extremely worried and while we are doing all we can to support them we really need the public’s help as we continue our search.

“We hope very much that we will find Nathan safe and well but with each day that passes, our concerns that he may have come to harm increase.

“Nathan has been described as an outgoing and gregarious character. He was someone who was very sociable and would engage in conversations with anyone.

“He knew the Walthamstow area and it is possible he had travelled there to meet with friends or to attend a party or gathering.

“We urgently want to hear from anyone who saw Nathan late on the night of Saturday, 21 January, early the following morning or at any time since. We would ask anyone who lives in the area he was last seen to check any CCTV or doorbell cameras.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who spoke to Nathan on the night, who knew of his plans or who knows where he might have gone or who he might have been meeting. No piece of information is too small.”

Anyone who sees Nathan should call 999.

Anyone with other information can call 101, giving the reference 23MIS002577.

Just looking at this area on the map. Are the police doing any searches in the area?

Nothing new here bar the actual CCTV.

The last in Banbury Road - what is he doing, where was this shot from? Does he stop for a second and look at something or is that the camera stalling?

Jumping a puddle or something maybe? Looks like the frame rate bugs out for a second.
He has a strange leaning back gait in some of it which I find a bit strange.

4 cans of lagar says pre-drinks or maybe a hookup. I wonder if any of his friends said they were supposed to meet at KOKO that night.

I think the Banbury Road footage may have been taken from here (link points to Google Earth Street View). I think it is the camera stalling.

From the police map I can see that Nathan's phone was detected near a previous Ikea site at Meridian Water (rail station). The last report was of him heading towards the nearby River Lea. I'm a boat dweller on the River Lea and I can see from the map that (if in possession of the phone), he would most likely have crossed the river where the A406 (N Circular intersects it near Advent Way). In doing so he would have passed an illegal rave that takes place on a boat under the bridge most weekends and I wonder if he might have headed there. The Canal and River Trust are aware of the boat but are spectacularly ineffective. They could however put the police in touch with the owner or the police could pay a visit any weekend.

Do you know enough details about it to contact the tip line?
