The BBC has filmed a reconstruction of Cole’s last known movements. His sister Hannah told the broadcaster: “It’s completely heartbreaking not knowing whether he’s alive and whether he’s going to walk through the door or we’re going to get that phone call that police have found something. Being in that limbo is very painful for the family.”

• This article was amended on 10 February 2023. The headline of an earlier version said that Nathan Cole went missing in Camden, London. The 32-year-old was on his way to a concert in Camden but was last seen in Walthamstow.

This is a repeat of post #57 above.

As far as I am aware people are still out searching for him.

I have not heard of any actual sightings of him on the marshes/ wetlands...and it's been stated that his phone may not have been with him when it pinged in the Tottenham/Edmonton area near the now closed IKEA. I wonder how certain they are about location as it's been stated he was on Banbury Rd and surely that could ping off the same cell towers, wherever they are situated.
I know there have been bike thefts, muggings and rape across a wider area of the marshes, not necessarily in this section. You can get a better idea of local crime on various sites which you can type in a postcode with that area to see past crimes in certain periods. Some cyclists have even previously been thrown into the water. This is part of the Lea / Lee Valley which stretches from outside London to the Thames with reservoirs, canals, rivers, flood relief channel... without knowing where he was going, route, if he even entered the Wetlands, it's all speculation.

It's true there are parties that spring up as well as raves in the area, from both the Walthamstow, Tottenham, Edmonton sides with little warning. I am sure there was a large one around Folly Lane/ Banbury / Durban Rd area a month or more ago. But locals will have noticed all this I am sure and commented on it.
The Drumsheds music venue is often commented on locally as with the raves and parties the sound can carry depending on wind direction etc.

This is not the only case it's been commented on that is getting little coverage in comparison to Nicola Burges, and if you look at the activity on threads about her on here, that's partly why. The media choose to focus on those who sell newspapers/create internet traffic... I also feel it's partly due to vulnerability, It's a woman, with child dependents, statistically bearing in mind they have to look at all avenues in missing person cases, and not stating any crime has occurred, but she is like a stereotypical poster representative of a woman that certain male assailants would choose. That concerns me.

Nathan apparently had a drone in his backpack, seems an odd thing to take out if he was going to a concert and also something you might want to use on a place like the marshes and also something someone might rob someone to have. Would he fly it at night though. There are so many unknowns.
I really hope they find him soon and safe, or some clues that help further his case
Not sure how the images supplied by the siblings can get approved as they supplied them locally to try and help find their brother.

''Nathan Cole's family have urged anyone with information to contact police
His family have described him as a "selfless, gregarious and outgoing" person, and say his disappearance is "out of character".
His sister Hannah Cole said she "knew from the outset" that something was out of the ordinary, especially as he had not turned up for work.
"Nathan would never do this," she said. "He didn't show up to his job; that's even more concerning. He loved his job, he loved his family."

Thank you for my welcome only my second day, my only welcome and someone has already flagging my posts it seems, eek!
I figured I would get used to things gradually.

They posted these in the local area on local fb groups and the ones removed I haven't seen in the press, including their missing poster. ‍♀️ I can understand though as people could steal photos from private sources that aren't meant to be public. At least I know now for future reference thank you I also now know I can't delete my own posts, regarding duplicate link.

Useful thank you so much

Does anyone know if police are still conducting searches? So frustrating the lack of media coverage this case is getting.
I haven't heard anything for a while, certainly no news conferences and constant headlines and it's not just Nathan who is not getting coverage after going missing. This is partly down to press/ media deciding on what will catch the public's interest.

The body of a man found dead in a canal in north London is thought to be missing person Nathan Cole, police say.

Mr Cole, from Notting Hill, was last seen walking along Banbury Road in Walthamstow, north-east London, on 21 January at about 23:20 GMT.

The 32-year-old's family had appealed for information about his whereabouts earlier this month.

The Met Police said his family had been notified and were being supported by specialist officers.

The body was discovered following fresh searches of Tottenham Marshes by police and a reconstruction filmed by the BBC.

It is thought Mr Cole, who worked for the London School of Economics, had been planning to attend a gig in Camden on the night he disappeared, but did not end up going.

In their previous public appeal, Mr Cole's family described him as a "selfless, gregarious and outgoing" person and said his disappearance was "out of character".

The Met said officers were called at 08:18 on Friday after receiving reports of an unresponsive man in the canal near Towpath Road in Edmonton.

A spokesperson said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators were awaiting results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

They added the body had not yet been formally identified.

Damn this sucks. I'm never too hopeful when somebody's last sighting is by water sadly. :( RIP Nathan.

His phone moved locations after his disappearance though, it was found by the old Ikea store in Tottenham... so this suggests it wasn't an accidental death. Either a murder or suicide?

The back of the old IKEA is only about 300m from the canal at its closest point (which from reports also sounds close to where he was found). So it might depend a bit on the accuracy of the technology used to place the phone there?

Any which way - this is awfully sad news - and assume we’ll only hear more if the police do suspect 3rd party involvement?

Sincere thoughts with his family & friends.

I'm sorry to hear this sad news about Nathan. Years ago we went to the same school and were part of the same year group although I didn't know him that well.

We'll have to see what the investigation outcome is but my gut feeling is the death will be classed as suicide. From the news articles it says half an hour after informing his brother he was going to the Camden gig, and without providing any further update to him, he was in Walthamstow buying alcohol and travelling further away from Camden. This kind of thing was said to be 'out of character' for him especially for a Saturday night.

Also something that struck me as a bit odd is the journey he made. He travelled in the Bus along Billet Road so far that he nearly got as far as the Crooked Billet roundabout before getting off. Once off the bus he then he walked back a fair distance in the direction he had just come from before eventually arriving at Banbury Road. The thing is if he had got off at an earlier bus stop in the journey he would have been able to get to Banbury Road a fair bit sooner. Seems confusing to me for him to have got off where he did and could it be a reflection of this state of mind I wonder?

Finally there is a comment posted under one of the missing videos from someone who allegedly knew him and lived with him for a while, which referred to him as "troubled". (edit: I have been advised not to post the screenshot here)
