Police officers searching for missing mum Nicola Bulley could be attempting to track down a "tatty-looking" red van which was parked close to the spot she disappeared.

Mum-of-two Nicola Bulley vanished while walking her dog by the river in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire, close to two weeks ago on January 27.

The witness contacted the police to report a suspicious "red van" parked in the village close to where Bulley went missing.

The 55-year-old witness, who had not been named, told the Times they saw the "tatty red van in Hall Lane outside a barn".

“I didn’t think anything at the time, but when I saw Nicola had gone missing, I called 101 and spoke to an operator.

According to the Times, a 55-year-old witness reported a red van to police on the day Nicola disappeared and again on February 2.

The woman, who asked not to be named, told the paper: 'I was on my way to the cake shop when I saw a tatty red van in Hall Lane outside a barn.

'I didn't think anything at the time, but when I saw Nicola had gone missing, I called 101 and spoke to an operator. I contacted the police again and spoke to a police officer.

'It could have been a Renault van. It was the sort of van you can live in.'

A Lancashire Police spokesperson would not comment on the report, but said: 'We have received a huge amount of information into the enquiry, all of which is being looked at, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has assisted our investigation so far.'

The disappearance of Nicola has taken the nation and world by storm, with social media being flooded with theories.

But many have even taken to foot around where the 45-year-old vanished.

Now one of the mum-of-two's pals has said the amateur detectives are actually "doing the complete opposite" of helping find her.

Friend Heather said such actions needed to stop as they were also frightening residents in the Lancashire town.

It came as amateur detectives were warned off doing their own searching of an "abandoned house" - which was actually lived in by a "lovely family".

Heather, who said she was a pal of "Nikki's", wrote on Facebook: "Tonight multiple police units are out in St Michaels dealing with people trespassing, not only on this families land but also others.

"We are at the point where people coming to 'help' look for Nikki in this way is actually doing the complete opposite.

"You're taking police time and resources away from the investigation.

A DIVING expert who led a search for Nicola Bulley claims he has video "proof" she did not fall in the river.

Speaking about the video, Peter said: "The log stayed at that point for 20 minutes, and it actually spiralled and went up six feet and came back to the same place.

"The river on the day was slightly higher - it was about a foot higher - but I'd be very surprised in my experience [if she was there] as a body usually goes to the bottom very quickly.

Police have been granted extra powers to remove social media influencers from the scene where Nicola Bulley went missing in Lancashire.

A dispersal order was put in place on Wednesday night meaning anyone taking photos and video for social media after the 45-year-old’s disappearance 13 days ago can be sent away.

Lancashire police said they had issued two dispersal notices and warned a number of other people about their behaviour.

Heather, who has been speaking on behalf of the family, said she had personally spoken to the owner and he had searched the abandoned house and derelict outbuildings.

She said on Facebook: 'Here are some facts that need to be known.

'It's not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in this village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.

'It has been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. I have clarified this with the family themselves and also with the police. They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search'.

And in a warning to the public she added last night: 'Tonight multiple police units are out in St Michaels dealing with people trespassing, not only on this families land but also others. We are at the point where people coming to 'help' look for Nikki in this way is actually doing the complete opposite'.

Lancashire Police said the decision to issue of the order “followed reports of individuals - from outside the area of St Michael’s - filming on social media close to properties.

“The order will remain in place for 48 hours and gives officers the power to disperse anyone committing anti-social behaviour.

“Two dispersal notices were issued, and a number of other people were warned about their behaviour.”

The force added that it would “not tolerate criminality, including trespass and criminal damage”.

It comes as the search for the mother-of-two has now reached the mouth of the river, near Fleetwood, with police looking along the western coast and into the Irish Sea and Morecambe Bay, Sky News reports.

According to The Times, The 55-year-old, who did not want to be named, said: "I was on my way to the cake shop when I saw a tatty red van in Hall Lane outside a barn.

"I didn’t think anything at the time, but when I saw Nicola had gone missing, I called 101 and spoke to an operator."

Police investigating Nicola Bulley's disappearance are probing a two-hour gap between her going missing and the first call to police. The mother-of-two, 45, vanished while walking her dog along the River Wyre near the village of St Michael's, Lancashire, at around 9.10am on January 27 but the first call did not come until 11am.

Lancashire Police is working under the hypothesis that she slipped into the water and drowned, but despite combing a mile-long stretch of the river, no trace of the mortgage adviser has yet been found. As the search enters a 14th day on Friday, police have moved to the sea to begin trawling Morecambe Bay.

The Daily Mail reports that three blind spots have been identified surrounding the area Ms Bulley went missing after police admitted she could have left the area via a path not covered by cameras. Despite working under the hypothesis that she slipped into the water, police admitted that it is possible she left the area by one path not covered by CCTV cameras. The path in question leads to Garstang Road, which runs through the village, and is therefore a blind spot.

Officers have been attempting to trace dashcam footage from 700 drivers who passed along the route at the time of her disappearance. Aside from the river itself, there are only two other exits from the area, one of which is covered by CCTV.

Friends of the missing mother have claimed that CCTV covering the other exit, close to mobile home site Rowanwater, is not working. This camera would have covered the fields to the south of where Ms Bulley was last seen.

Friend of missing looking to ‘jog’ people’s memory with campaign

A friend of Nicola Bulley said a campaign highlighting her disappearance a fortnight ago will be looking to “jog” people’s memory about the day the Lancashire woman went missing.

Emma White, speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, said: “It is two weeks today.

“The local community are coming out to raise that profile, we’re trying to jog anybody’s memory. Dashcam footage of Garstang Road, which is just outside of the village of St Michael’s on Wyre, just by the bridge that you go over.

A dog expert has explained why pet spaniel Willow, who was with Nicola Bulley at the time of her disappearance, was pacing between the gate to a nearby field and the bench where her mobile phone was found. Nicola was last seen walking her springer spaniel near the River Wyre, Lancashire, on January 27.

She explained: “They're bred for hunt and retrieve, and they're bred to flush out game, so they have to be very amenable to being handled at a distance, they have to be responsive at a distance. They were never bred as guard dogs. Some of the bigger hunt and retrieve breeds were but these were never, they were always just jolly, intense little working dogs, flushing out game.”

A former detective who exposed Jimmy Savile has raised questions over the police theory that missing mum Nicola Bulley has fallen into the river. Mark Williams-Thomas has asked why police were so certain from early on that the 45-year-old had not left the location near the river.

He told TalkTV: "It is a very tragic case and I feel for the family, and there are several possibilities. The police believe she went into the water, she could also have decided to vanish herself. There is the possibility she was either taken by force by someone who either didn't know her, or someone who she did.

"These are the four things the police will be looking for. They seem to be going on the theory that she fell into the river, but from what they are saying, Lancashire Police are not putting all their eggs in one basket and they are examining several possibilities. They are doing a good job. There has been some mistakes along the way, but they are doing a good job."

He added: "There are very few people who vanish without a trace. They must have realised something was really seriously wrong quite early on, and that bench was not sealed off. That was an opportunity lost."

With St Michael’s residents being plagued by TikTokers searching for missing Nicola Bulley, members of the community reached out to Spencer Sutcliffe Security for help, who have kindly offered to do daily and nightly patrols of the village for free.

The team conducted their first nightly tour of St Michael’s last night (February, 9), and owner Spencer Sutcliffe says they plan to continue their patrols over the next few days.

Spencer explained: “When the residents rang me, I thought what an awful situation, they’re already got the horror of what’s happened, plus nobody knows whats happened, and then they’ve got all these people trampling through their gardens, going through their sheds. When they’re approached by some of the residents, they’re becoming very aggressive towards them, and it’s just not nice.
