"LL is set to be stripped of her NHS pension after her murderous rampage on the neonatal ward where she worked.

Health Secretary Steve Barclay is looking into all measures that prevent her pension from being paid to her.

The NHS Pension Scheme Regulations allow him to forfeit pensions if NHS employees are convicted of crimes – particularly those that are “gravely injurious to the state or to be liable to lead to serious loss of confidence in the public service”.

I just wish that parents could receive some sort of interim payment for everything they have been put through and THEN make a decision on whether this should be a statutory or non statutory inquiry.
They have been living like this for years and I think they all deserve a thoroughly long holiday and compensation whilst this next very thorough inquiry takes place. I hate to think of them being persuaded into a 'quick job' .
Equally, whilst TC and the other seniors have said they will cooperate with the inquiry. Why should they not be forced to attend. Why shouldn't they have put their lives on hold in the same way these families did?
I disapprove of the compensation culture that has grown in this country over recent years.
The NHS is grossly underfunded as it is and substantial compensation claims will only further diminish the ability of Trusts to provide services.
If anything is to be learned from an inquiry , it should be that chronic under funding leads to poor quality of service and unnecessary deaths of all ages..
Needless to say, the government of the day will largely ignore this.

The British government said the move would see those convicted die in prison and protect the public from the most-dangerous offenders.

For the first time, the orders will also be the default sentence for any sexually motivated murders.
It's not the UK. It's England & Wales, as Scotland has a different legal system and doesn't have whole life orders.

I’m led to think many people representative of modern “values” often are a drain on the nhs. Going in for a cough etc. I wonder if these people would have any inclination towards a selfless attitude towards it.

It would be bitterly ironic if the sadist is such a simp that she faints cause she pricked herself.

She even called her mum to inform her she'd pricked herself, as a precautionary in case anything happened to her. Maybe LL's a hypochondriac too. Phoning your mother aged 25? ( Apparently her mum was hopping mad about the risks she was taking, gave her a stern talking to. I might have to go back & check whether Mum thought it was a big deal that 2 triplets died at the same time )

Underfunding is not a known factor in murder cases.

true but we're running at compensation of around £1BN a year for ...negligence cases
and underfunding has to be a factor in many negligence cases.

will try & re-find the link I posted on it last week.I didn't know the £ figure myself until this case

Well I agree with you on the government of the day! Honestly though, some of these kids lives are very different now and sadly whilst the UK offers an amount of wrap around care for disabled children, without compensation they will be dependent on charities and/ or fundraising themselves just to be able to live a half normal life. I feel sorry for them but I take your point on the economical front, though to be honest it's not as though central government have any plans to keep the NHS, they have been moving towards an American model for some time now, hence the horrendous conditions that staff are being asked to work in.

Sometimes, you can pour more and more money into an organisation, and it doesn't necessarily improve.

More money won't help. There are fundamental flaws in the system.
I agree, massive cultural problems, they are exceptionally rubbish at working with other organisations. The levelling up white paper has had a horrendous impact on patients in communities. They should be investing resources outwards. Bolstering the community sector, not shutting down communities to refuel their own broken system.

Not strictly true. Scottish judges can give a life sentence with a minimum parole that exceeds a prisoners lifespan.
Not the same thing - legally a judge doesn't have the option of handing down a whole life order. If the defendant is young enough then there will always be the chance of release.
