I live in a similar area and this is very plausible. People live quiet lives and don't immediately assume a crime is taking place. This does not mean they didn't hear a scream and it may be key evidence when added to the bigger picture so well done that neighbour for speaking up.

BTW may be irrelevant but noticed in the press....

Sam's next to neighbour was away on holiday on the day she went missing.

"Elaine Kellett, who has lived next door to the midwife two years – but was on holiday last Friday – said: “She’s a very nice lady. It’s very sad and we miss her. We want her back.”

did he know the neighbour was away? Possible - had he been working in the back garden, two weeks previous & had a casual chat with Elaine.

How Does A Much-Loved Midwife Disappear Without A Trace?

Pity that she was away on holiday, she might have heard something and raised an alarm. Too many if onlys in these cases.

Unfortunately as you said - ms may have known that the neighbor was away and planned his actions based on this. If it was a coincidence that the neighbor just happened to be away then again as you say it is such a pitty the neighbor was not home as this could have been an entirely different situation.

apparently the white van was parked on the empty drive of the Stirling Grandma ( she is in a home, hse is vacant.)

This is virtually opposite the SS home.
Having seen the footage, the white van looks very clean, even the alloys. No idea on what basis they suspected "assisting an offender." Could be unwittingly ....could have been cleaned? Or providing an alibi?

The van does look very clean.

With regards to pictures from the inside of SE house , it looks like the side of the house ( where the back door is)is visible to the cottage on the right.

It's likely MS knew next door neighbour was on holiday, what a shame she was. The scream/ screams must of been loud for a house further away to hear.

So not parked on unknown 28yo's property as was speculated earlier on.

and anyway, why would you use the box?
- Why not just place body in van, use a sheet/duvet cover to throw over, lock your van?
- He used a detached box because he pre-planned to contain a forensic area for later cleaning? ( Is he that smart, his planning doesn't seem great so far does it.)
Maybe his plans went awry because her disappearance was discovered and reported so quickly.

My thoughts too. Hospital staff regularly swap shifts, SE could have swapped her shift last minute ( with it being a Friday night shift highly likely too) MS might have planned on her not being reported missing until he was out of the area on holiday.

I think this too ..he was relying on his holiday to be away from everything but didn't plan on it being discovered so quickly that she was missing ..jmo

I think you could be right there.
OK I'm generalising but altho women tend to tell each other things, in this case it appears she might only have told one work colleague about any brief intimacy ( IF true) and maybe MS thought no-one knew at all. Maybe she told him that, previously.

but.... he'd have to know that she would be missed at work and that after 7.30 no-show for the shift that someone might come looking at the house?
It's annoying Yozzer, but there always has to be a "but" in everything we speculate.

so here's another ;)
but...what if he thought he could get her to phone in sick for a few days? ( So again, maybe he didn't plan to kill her initially/at all, maybe it all escalated in some way?)

This wink emoji that WS have got is a bit creepy, I'll use an alternative in future :)

It's funny how 28yr olds details have never been released but the press found out it was a friend of the family. I wonder if he gave details of where the body was in exchange for anonymity.

Neither he nor the older man have been charged, so their names should not have been released. I don't believe the police have named either of them but the gutter press continue to ignore the rules.

Nice house

Bet she loved it there - bright & spacious. Lots of young pple cannot afford to buy a property these days etc.

I thought it was also worth posting cause you can see at the entrance (glazing door surrounds) it would be easy to see if someone approached front door. The back garden is also very visible in the photo of the kitchen/lounge room. ( Re trespassers.)

Oh never thought of that - good point.

Or maybe they had planned to spend time together on the Friday night, he told KS he was off on his own, she called it off, he threatened her, she volunteered to work so she could avoid him if he turned up, she told colleague if I don't show up come looking for me

Anything's possible. he could have pressured her to do that over last few days to see him?

Gut feeling says no - cause of the masking tape ( feels like things have got pretty toxic and any friendship they had, has broken down but that's just imo.

If his last sighting there a fortnight ago was also the last time he had seen her, maybe as jessie says, he'd been "stewing" for a while and he's turned up uninvited on the day. She may even have been asleep by 9/10am. ( There was a police request for cctv 9-11am Fri morning , at one stage, so maybe he has no alibi for then.) Not pleasant to be woken having just done a shift either...
