Do you recall if the last ping was where the seed truck was or at his actual trailer? I saw that those locations are 5 miles apart.
It's my understanding from Dad explaining in the Sparks YT Video that it was near the farm / shed area. He mentions along the lines "by a hill just past the shed and railroad tracks."

By this description it could have been at either location:

Cooley says police got a ping on the phone that was at or within 15 miles of his property on Saturday at 3:41 p.m.

Two additional notes I pulled from the Sparks YT Video that seem puzzling...apologies if they have been addressed or clarified:

Mom indicated there were deep "ruts" from the grain truck that shouldn't be there because it hadn't rained enough at that point to cause them when Dylan supposedly moved the grain truck to the shed. Maybe it had rained more than she was aware? The grain truck weighed more full of seed - so it didn't take much to make ruts?

Dad indicated there's a basic barb-wired gate on the road that leads to the farm or at the entrance of the farm and it was closed - noting Dylan never closed this gate. Did the individuals who did the the initial welfare check on Sunday notice it closed? Did they close it?

Given Sparks was one of the first YT videos with CC, I don't think it was yet clear on the date he was recording, what changes/actions Don and Jim (searched days prior to parents arriving) were responsible for. For example, believing DR was missing, either Don or Jim may have closed the gate in an attempt to try and secure the property.

IMO, much has since been revised and/or clarified by CC since the Sparks video which was great for getting a good visual of the location. But I recommend listening to some of the latest interviews with CC for updated information. MOO

CC has confirmed the dirt mound, seed truck, and pond were all searched
within 48 hours of DR being reported missing by his parents on 5/30.
Trying to catch up in here

So-- He was last seen/ last heard from SAT 5/28

Did he parents report him missing SUNDAY, MAY 29TH
OR
Monday, May 30th ( Memorial Day) ??

If they didnt report him missing until the 30th, which is Monday, then what the heck did he do or where was he on Sunday ??

I also can't get the boots found behind mound of dirt out of my thought process.

When we first heard of DR missing.. the first thing we read was about a "Barefoot man" that DR thought could become dangerous or may have been on drugs.

So ... there is a lot of conflicting information to sift through, it’s hard to know what the facts really are. In spite of all the talk about DR’s boots, I wonder ... is it at all possible that DR had a new pair of boots and chucked the old ones out by the dirt pile himself? MOO

In order to speed up the catching up process, I suggest looking at @Seattle1 posts which provide summaries of the case to date, based upon reliable info and sources.

Random thought as I was pondering the unpredictable heavy rainfall we've had here in the Midwest. What if there was a very heavy burst of rain before Dylan was able to move the grain truck. He goes to move it, but it's stuck in the mud. In a bind, he goes and gets his truck and uses it to pull the grain truck out of the mud. Afterwards, he has to power wash the mud off his personal truck.

I suppose this theory would only work if the grain truck was muddy, but it explains the ruts in the mud and the power washing. Also gets us nowhere unless Dylan was so frustrated he took off.

In the interview with his mother, she mentioned that if he was driving the truck the seed was in, then his truck would have been at his house. I was under the impression that if he was planting but rain was coming and he needed to get the truck in the shed, then he would have had to walk the 5 miles to where his trailer/camper where he lived and his other truck would have been. I was curious then if he usually kept both trucks at his house and that day he had drove the one with the seed in it and then needed to get it under the cover of the shed/building or whatever it was to keep it dry and then was stuck stranded over there and would have had to walk (possibly in a heavy downpour) the 5 miles. I also saw that this walk was nothing for him, but I also think walking it in possibly a downpour and muddy conditions would have been different.

Why would he keep the truck containing the seed outside the shed? Why risk the chance of rain in the middle of the night?

I hope we can hear from the young man's grandparents at some point. They lived nearby, had owned farm, knew the current and let go workers. It would be nice to get some back story on the farm and the human ecosystem at play in this very unique, desolate, and challenging area. JMHO

Confirming DR's last contact was early Saturday morning, 5/28.
Parents reported DR missing on Monday, May 30.

The what/where of DR on Sunday is unknown.

This is a very fluid investigation and seems his mom, is speaking more to YT creators than MSM so it's best to listen to the latest videos posted here for updates -- especially since much of what was earlier reported by MSM has been revised or recanted. JMO

I think it would be difficult to get a normal warrant in this case, let alone a geofence warrant. It's an odd disappearance, but there is not much concrete evidence of a crime (that we know of, at least).

I guess anything is possible if they find the right judge though. And the isolated nature of the property makes a geofence warrant less invasive.
There must be evidence of a crime, since LE is now calling it a "criminal" investigation.

ok well I am wondering if the first person who reported him missing is the suspect. The guy that supposedly went looking for him?? is he the guy that worked for the grandpa/or is a neighbor..its all so confusing at this point.

Why would he keep the truck containing the seed outside the shed? Why risk the chance of rain in the middle of the night?

Lucid, UT, mostly known as an abandoned railroad community is generally desert with a semi-arid climate. The last precipitation was around 5/3.

CC provided that the seed truck is tarped but for the anticipated heavy rainfall, an overhead shelter is preferred to prevent any trapped moisture of the covered seed.

CC provided the rain at the farm was heavy beginning mid-afternoon on Saturday, 5/28, and steady rainfall all day Sunday, 5/29. A rockhound also provided CC with timestamped photos corroborating the rainfall around DR's farm during these dates.

They're calling it a Missing Person/Criminal investigation. I'd interpret that / as an 'or'. So I don't think that necessarily means that they have evidence of a crime, just that they're keeping that possibility open while they investigate. As they should.

But to get a warrant from a judge (especially a geofence warrant) you need to show probable cause that a crime was committed. I don't think anything we've heard would meet that standard, although I guess with the right judge anything is possible. It's one of the catch-22s of missing persons cases: often you need a warrant to help figure out whether a crime was committed, but you can't get one without evidence that a crime was committed.

For example, I know Jason Landry's family has advocated for a geofence warrant to help clear up whether he was alone on the night he disappeared, but hasn't been able to get one because there isn't clear evidence of a crime.

There must be evidence of a crime, since LE is now calling it a "criminal" investigation.

Box Elder County Sheriffs' office issued a press release today, (6/15), and for the first time, described the case as an active law enforcement missing person/criminal investigation.

BECS further stated that only updates that do not have the potential to compromise the investigation will be released.

I wish they would have provided when they made the leap from a [suspicious] missing person investigation to foul play. o_O

Nonetheless, I trust this reclassification isn't smoke and mirrors and there is clear evidence of criminal activity to secure important search warrants. MOO
