Just talked to TC [neighbor] after police said his next-door neighbor is a person of interest in #MackenzieLueck case: “I would be shocked if he was involved in this.” “Very nice guy, well-behaved, quiet.”

ETA: neighbor initials by me

Next-door neighbor says homeowner was a do-it-yourselfer who learned by asking him questions and looking up online videos. He built this fence and put in a patio in his backyard.

Another neighbor tells me she saw the person of interest mowing his yard about noon yesterday. Doesn’t remember any smoke/fire in past few weeks. #MackenzieLueck

Bravo! This is an exquisite example of how the system here is supposed to work. PommyMommy quietly sleuthed, didn’t drive the mods insane by posting things against ToS, and had the info all ready to post, once we got the word. Amazing job!

IMO/MOO — just a possible theory here that may not be at all relevant or accurate:

IIRC, in the about the author section on Amazon for the FORGE IDENTITY book, it mentions about the zillion different careers the writer who is the POI allegedly had, including “entrepreneur.”

Visually, the modeling photos of the Utah POI gentleman reminded me of the photos of a different person with a similar name that @yellowmoose mentioned @yellowmoose had spoken to last night. ML’s verified insider close friend related that the blademy etc not the same name guy would NOT answer when asked if he is related (such as a distant family member) to the POI in this case, but that — as others have mentioned as well — he is NOT the POI in this case.

So, not sleuthing the other guy or any of the other guy’s family members, but just to say it’s *possible* the other person (who seems very successful and likely possibly several years younger than Utah POI) could be a relative or because of the name similarities and impressive positive press and credentials of the similar name guy, the named Utah POI in ML’s disappearance may have been attempting to pass himself off to ML and/or others as the very successful similar named person so as to lure or possibly seem more attractive and legit to potential friends, associates, dates, networking contacts, jobs, etc. If so, the similar name guy may very well be an identity theft victim or someone Utah POI was in some capacity impersonating online and possibly in person. No evidence at this point — just a possible theory re POI’s M.O.

I did see that the actual Utah POI appears to have at some point claimed to have worked for Goldman Sachs. He seems to have claimed to have done a lot of things.

At the risk here of stating the obvious, I’m really not getting a good feeling here about Utah POI homeowner guy of bonfire fame.

Prayers for ML, her family, friends, and loved ones. I hope she comes home soon and safe, but fear that this case doesn’t seem like it’s moving in that direction.

IMO/MOO

Great post.. a little confused. Are you saying the POI did "forge the identity" of another guy:confused:

I don't want to go off the deep end, but it almost seems he was given orders. Pick her up, take her here, burn her ID, phone, possibly sheets, hold this ammo (no mention of the actual weapon) do something with the mattress, start a model page, maybe you will meet some model Mayhem models, or make connections, rent out your room, so young college kids come stay all the time, etc etc. I still think she slept there only. Even if the conclusion is grim, I think it happened elsewhere. I think he is a central figure a small faction of organized crime. Total speculation.

I am watching two busy threads at once...My coffee cup is nearly empty... I gotta go to the restroom........This sleuthing can be rough work..........moo
Hah! I am supposed to be renewing a contract and I can't stay off the board. WS is going to send me to the poor house :D

I just want #JUSTICEFORMACKENZIE

Is his book fiction or non-fiction?

Just curious....haven't seen anything about it.

It would be worth skimming the pages, either way.

JMO.

Appears to be fiction.

Ezekiel was almost 15 when he witnessed a gruesome murder. An angry mob burned his neighbor alive in the street and the man died at his feet. Sadly, it was not the last time he witnessed such horror. With his well respected father as guide and mentor, Ezekiel saw this death, then a death much closer to home when a loved one was killed in the same brutal, terrifying way 50 feet from him, and he could do nothing to stop it. Staggering to recover from these severe traumas, he finds relief and joy in meeting his first love, becomes embroiled in grand theft, and experiences heartbreaking betrayal. Ezekiel must decide if he will join the ranks of a criminal mastermind, or fight to escape the tyranny that has surrounded his young life. Or even beat them at their own game.
When trust is lost, can he even trust himself?

But I have seem a background blurb somewhere about the author that implies the story might be based on/inspired by real life experiences, too. Will try to track it down.

ETA: It's his Amazon profile. Good lord it reads like self aggrandizement BS in my opinion:

"Biography
Ayoola Ajayi was born and raised in Africa. He has been a salesman, an entrepreneur, and a writer. He has survived a tyrannical dictatorship, escaped a real life crime, traveled internationally, excelled professionally in several industries, and is currently curating a multi-platform advertising campaign for his debut novel, Forge Identity, a sample of which can be found on Kindle, Amazon, Facebook, and any current social media. He lives in salt lake"

Apologies if this has been asked but does anyone know if they've searched the hills in North SLC?

If you look at a map, about a 10 minute drive from the house (and in between the park and house), to the East, there is a large gravel pit and small mountains where it would be easy to conceal a crime or evidence of that crime.

I used to live in this area so I know it very well.

We are used to trials where evidence is neatly presented. I believe they had good reason to go in the house and it is promising that they carried out evidence. If they knew each other somehow, ML could have been to that house before. If so, finding her DNA or something of hers may not lead to arrest right now. They may have to sift through a bunch of potential evidence to decipher what is relevant. However, once any burn fragments (if any) or other evidence has been sent through a lab, the totality of the evidence will help law enforcement know what happened. I believe it is good they are taking appropriate steps before acting. The POI is on guard now and will be watched. If he did it, in desperation, he may lead them to more evidence in attempts to cover his track. We do not know enough to know how/if he is involved but we do know the LE knows enough to think so. I am not concerned at all that an arrest was not made. I do not believe that means no progress. In 4 to 5 days, I might think differently but not now.

Again, my heart is with her family and friends. This must be agonizing for them. My prayers go out to them. My heart is also with LE. Cases like this impact a person for a lifetime.

So he is completely free to roam about until they bring him in?
MOO sorry, but wouldn't a body would smell like bbq
and luggage of burning plastic?

Does anyone have the link to his book?

I’m contemplating downloading his book on Kindle Unlimited.

There’s no way that it can be any worse than the drivel written by my favorite true crime author, “Nick Van der Leek.”

Or can it?...

Scathing review forthcoming.
Oh good! You're thinking about taking one for the team. Come back and give us the highlighs.

I read the one review where the lady won the book in a giveaway. She had to skip a lot and it wasn't her taste. I think she was trying to be nice.

[bbm]

how do we know that?
I'm assuming he did not go to them since we heard nothing about it until after the PC, when she had already been missing for over a week. As soon as LE was able to get the phone records they questioned him. He had a whole week to go to them with the information but he didn't.
It's possible that it could be someone else but then why would that person not have come forward, either? Unless there is someone else involved. I just can't imagine that if it were a friend of hers, they wouldn't have thought it was important to notify LE. Especially since she disappeared right after they were texting. Imo
