Reports indicate he was baptized after arriving to The States. There hasn't been a report that he was investigating becoming LDS while living in Africa. And also not sure that the LDS church would sponsor a potential convert.

They do. But once they are here if they don't tow the line, they are left to their own devices. Which seems to be the case here as AA ended up homeless. And apparently resorted to stealing.

There have been big controversies over the years with LDS immigration. Google The Gangs of Zion or Mormon gangs. The gang task force here is sick of it. It has been a problem for 30 years. It is not uncommon for a gang member to be arrested with The Book Of Mormon in their picket.

It only stands to reason that AA could have been involved in illegal activities to make a living. The area that AA lives in is also where the immigration problems crop up. Rose Park, Fairpark, Glendale, and West Valley City neighborhoods.

Please don't think I am painting with a wide brush. There are many good and law abiding immigrants here.

I just want to offer insight into how AA probably got to Utah and what most likely lead to the way he lived his life.

Yes, I think that’s the same article that was linked in the quote of my original post. I try not to be negative on here and I don’t know exactly why this story bothers me. Maybe I should delete the entire post. Will go look at it and decide.
There's nothing wrong with your post but I didn't see a link in it. ? Anyway, I view the cleaning lady the same as the handyman, the ex-wife, the rape survivor, etc. They are all potential witnesses and have something to add to the case. MOO

The link was in the post I responded to, at the very bottom. I deleted my post. I still have questions but there’s no sense stirring it up here.

Utah State University banned the man who is accused of killing Mackenzie Lueck
[...]

The campus police reports also describe Ajayi, a Nigerian immigrant, as overstaying his visa and perhaps being homeless. When USU police booked Ajayi into the Cache County jail in 2012 on suspicion of misdemeanor theft, officers notified both Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a Nigerian consulate.

“This letter is to inform you that if you feel you need to visit our campus,” wrote Eric R. Olsen, the associate vice president for student services to Ajayi on Aug. 2, 2012, “you must first contact the Utah State University Police Department and have them escort you on and off campus. If you violate this mandate you will be cited for trespassing and will face additional legal consequences.”

While Ajayi was booked into jail on suspicion of theft, a search of Utah court records gives no indication he was charged.

[...]
So this man has a criminal past, but has never faced charges for anything he's done?

Astounding and unbelievable.

Wow really makes you wonder how much more there is to this story. I knew when the detective called the case "dynamic" that this would likely shape up to be something large.
A worst case scenario, in my opinion, would be that an extremely large webcam viewing group is attached via their smart phones and computers to the suspect...viewing 24/7 what he and others routinely did in his home and car, along with viewing illicit sexually graphic violence.

I can’t find my post about the responsibility of the schools with international students and reporting. It was detailed. I will try harder later.

The article linked earlier about him being banned from campus and such leaves me angry.

I hope there is an investigative journalist out there that is looking for the paper trail with the school, the DOS agent at the school and The Department of Homeland Security to find out why he is still here. There should have been reports filed stating he was out of compliance or allowances for delays all documented.

I see this as a situation that they have found so much that they are still coordinating it all, putting it all together, and tracking down other leads.

Yeah, the neighborhood definitely helped him blend in with a large immigrant population. Things that would be reported in most areas, like bonfires in the backyard, wouldn't solicit a police call in Rose Park.

Have to believe there is a lot of additional evidence and warrants have been served following digital trails.

Yes, and I think they're going to hit him with every charge possible. From another article:

D.A. gets extension to file charges against suspect in Mackenzie Lueck's death
Ajayi will be held without bail until formal charges are screened.

"There is the gathering of all of the information so we have as complete a screening packet as possible," Gill said of the reason for asking for an extension.

Thank you for keeping up with the media thread - I'm slammed at work - interesting they are holding him for additional time. IMO that means they are lining up a whole slew of charges besides murder. What has this man been up to? I'm guessing a whole lot of badness JMO

Yeah my impression is he will have the proverbial book thrown at him--and rightfully so.

One of the inconsistencies his anonymous date reported was that he couldn't clearly say what he did for work.

But it seems he has to have a verifiable income to buy a house and get a mortgage. Even being about 20% less than the SLC median income, he still bought the Rose Park home for about $270K.

You don't go from being evicted with two roommates to having enough to cash to buy a house outright in two years.

I haven't read a verified and specific report of his job yet. Banks would want this info for a mortgage.
