The dial on the side - was that for volume or for tuning into a radio station?

I googled "csl eyeglass lenses" and the first result was "cheap stock lenses." ....

Or how about "correctional segment(al?) lens"??

correctional segmental lenses would be the proper term for trifocals...

As for the cassette player -- it looks like a GE logo in the upper right corner, so essentially a different brand of Walkman. But we tended to use the term for anything in that style. If it is a GE, I had one exactly like it. Most likely it would bring in am/fm radio stations as well as play cassette tapes. If it's the high-end GE, it might have had a six-band radio.

Would the manufacturer print the lens strength on the arm of the frame? Like is it too far out of a theory to say the CSL simply stands for the trifocal lenses?

I've been meaning to ask what are those red things hanging down in the photo with all of her stuff? It kind of looks like lingerie.

I interpret it as being a flowered fashion scarf.

Possibly a scarf but the right side looks like it has a nude liner inside. Like panties or swim bottoms.

I wonder why that one item isn't listed but was photographed.

Could that be what she used to secure the bag around her head?

Looza juice (we call it loser juice) is a pretty common mixer and she may have bought it at an ABC store.

I wonder that as well. Did you notice how deep the colors are where the loop part is as opposed to the open ends of the scarf (the way it's hanging). It looks like the ends of the scarf weren't protected to the elements, whereas the looped part could have been where the scarf was bunched together. Maybe? Or is that farfetched?

Re the eyeglasses, if only CSL was showing on the inside of the frames, then likely she had the frames for awhile & the model # that goes with CSL wore off. CSL has served for a long time to be a subcontractor for Physiol. Physiol does ALOT in the USA - think Bausch & Lomb, among others. Having CSL on the inside of the frames doesn't mean she came from Belgium, not saying she didn't but rather saying it doesn't necessarily point towards that. CSL would be imprinted or engraved on most or even all frames/lenses manufactured by CSL. Physiol, I wouldn't think, is the only distributor for CSL. There's likely others as well. To give an example of what I'm saying, Bausch & Lomb is based in NY but manufactures for multiple brands. Many of their brands can be found all over the world. Example: A UID found in China could have been wearing an old pair of Ray Bans from back when Bausch & Lomb had them. That UID in China could have purchased those glasses anywhere, even though they may have been made in the USA or Italy once Luxottica bought them. See what I mean? Hope this helps somehow.

To me the left side is sheer red material and the right side looks to be red satin with black polka dots with a nude material on the inside.

A scarf would make sense.

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but do we know whether the abdominal scar looked old or fairly recent? Although an autopsy was not performed, a medical exam that involved palpating the abdomen would probably have told us whether her uterus and ovaries were intact, or whether there was some type of large mass inside.

The Looza juice is fairly common in the TN stores where I live. I don't know how common it was in the 1990s. It is usually in the "ethnic foods" section (I think that's what the store aisle calls it). They lump it together with the Asian/Oriental/Mexican food ingredients.

I should have reacquainted myself with this thread again before coming back to post.

The plastic bag over her head was secured with tape. I guess it's possible the scarf was placed over the tape? Idk. Maybe it's in the thread somewhere that says where the scarf was on her.

Re the Walkman - it's right there in the Doe file. Duh! It's a portable cassette player & she had the headphones on her ears. Again, in the Doe files.

Gonna go back through the thread & also try to read up on Porchlight's thread regarding this Jane Doe.

One thing to note is that Classiques Entier info about her clothing coming from Saks is off bc that particular line was exclusive to Nordstrom...not Saks.

Could that be what she used to secure the bag around her head?

Somewhere in this this thread, the red scarf is listed as being among her belongings. I believe she secured the bag with masking tape; also somewhere in here I read that she was carrying a roll of masking tape in her backpack. My guess is that the scarf was part of her outfit, as she was wearing a red sweater and red nail polish.

But would fingerprinting from other countries be compared? I doubt it.

I liked the theory that she was maybe married to an American in the military that was stationed over there.

Then again I don't like the Belgium connection very much at all.
