Jury selection did not finish Monday; it’s expected to wrap up Tuesday.

On Monday, the judge questioned prospective jurors extensively about what they knew about the Quick case, as it has drawn a great deal of media attention and he wanted to see who knew what.

Jury selection started April 4 and was expected to wrap up on Tuesday. Some potential jurors expressed concern for their safety to the court. All six defendants asked for a mistrial, after U.S. Marshals started to place handcuffs on one of the defendants while the full jury pool was still in the courtroom.

omg popsicle i cannot thank you enough for these tweets!!!!! :tyou:..........it has been like pulling teeth to find coverage of this trial believe it or not, isn't that a shame! a law officer shot in the head by gang members and hardly a peep on the news, it's despicable......

i've been posting tweets on the holmes thread today and all the time wondering how this trial was going.......this crime makes me sooooo angry :furious: so senseless and to an officer of the law just checking on his mother and going to see his daughter.....a bunch of no goods just trying to be members of a gang?.........i cannot even go further, let's leave it at this: :cursing:

Really a bizarre day here for the Kevin Quick murder trial. Today the Government was supposed to call its first witness, but instead the judge sent the jury home saying there was an "obstacle" that had to be dealt with. The judge decided to reconvene at 3 with the jury not present. At 3 o'clock the instead of an open court hearing all the attorneys met with the judge behind closed doors. About 30 minutes later the attorneys came back out and said court was done until Tuesday. No word on what the obstacle may be. ... http://fb.me/6z1w6HKwn

In court Tuesday, the judge said that during jury selection, one of the defendants gained access to a list of all potential jurors, including their names and addresses and other identifying information. As a result, the court sent letters to everyone on the list, including the current jurors, making them aware of the situation.

The mistrial was granted because of the letter the judge sent. Judge is meeting with the other two to decide if they want/will get a mistrial also.
