Daniel Mathis, 18, Shantai Shelton, 24, Mersadies Shelton, 20, and Travis Bell, 23, were all indicted in connection with the case.

The four are accused of carjacking and kidnapping Quick on January 31, withdrawing money from his accounts, then murdering him in a wooded area in Goochland, according to the 28 count indictment.

- carjacked a vehicle belonging to Kevin Quick and then kidnapped him.

- drove around to various banks in Virginia, in Quick's vehicle, and made, or attempted to make, withdrawals from Kevin Quick's bank accounts. During some of these attempts, Quick was still in the vehicle being held against his will

- willfully, deliberately and with premeditation, kill Kevin Quick and left his body in a wooded area in Goochland County, Virginia.

Very sad.

So they did just drop the charges while gathering more evidence to insure a conviction! Kudos to all the agencies involved!! May Mr. Quick's family have some peace in knowing this group is behind bars! May justice prevail!!

Wow, living fairly close to this...let me just say.....I am very naive.

I have a question about this woman...Leslie Hope Casterlow. I admit I am intrigued by her role in the whole Quick murder and gang activity. After doing some "sleuthing" online, I saw that she is an almost-fifty year old white woman who was at one time very active in her church and PRISON MINISTRY. How in the world did she get involved with this group of young thugs?? Would love to hear your thoughts on this or any knowledge anyone else can add to the above.

Thanks!

Hi sallye818 - I wondered the same thing. She's mentioned (along with WRIGHT, STOKES and WHITE) in count 28 of the indictment for:

...corruptly alter, destroy, mutilate, and conceal documents and other objects, or attempt to do so, with the intent to impair their integrity and availability for use in an official proceeding.

IIRC, she was in the second? batch of arrests, made in Prince William county/Manassas, along with Wright and Stokes. Manassas is where the 2nd ATM withdrawal from Officer Quick's account was made. Maybe they knew her from the prison ministry, and knew she lived in the area?? The indictment mentions Gert Wright as the 'leader' of the gang, and responsible for the distribution of drugs in the northern Virginia area. Maybe she backslid and they were her drug connection? I'm guessing the concealment/destruction of documents charge has to do with Quick's wallet and ATM card.

Reading quickly through the indictment, they have these guys on a slew of other robberies in the central Virginia area. I think they've got them on federal RICO charges too, though I'm not very good with all the legal citations in the indictment.

I recall that the police questioned a person at a BP station very close to Quick's girlfriend's apartment. Maybe he stopped for gas and that's where they carjacked him???

Susan, I think this is what happened...he was carjacked at the gas station and when they found out he was a cop, maybe, they knew he was a bigger liability. P.S. I wish someone who has the capability would do a background check on Casterlow and see if she has drug charges in her past. I was wondering if she might have a child the age of these people and helped them out b/c the kid was in the group. It does say, however, on the indictment that she is "AKA White Girl"...that tells me that she is at least somewhat involved on a deeper level than just knowing them from jail or something. To have a "nickname" I would've thought she is somehow affiliated, and she was living in Manassas (as well as Wright).
