Police: 50+ tips in Nelson missing-person case in 36 hours

Police ask anyone who recalls seeing the 4Runner "in the Mineral/Louisa County area on Sunday, Manassas on Saturday, Fork Union on Friday night or the general Charlottesville-Albemarle County area" to call Virginia State Police by cell at #77 or at (434) 352-7128.

"Also worth the public’s interest is if anyone near Cedar Hill Road in Mineral recalls seeing any additional vehicles in the overnight hours of Sunday through Monday," police said Tuesday in an news release.

@trigger
I haven't seen any mention of a cell phone in the articles (but I might have missed it).

Btw, I have the feeling that the suspects had contact with LE earlier, I can't imagine first time offenders go on such a killing and robbing spree. JMO

According to Maj. Donnie Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened Sunday night in Mineral when a person started demanding money. It was not clear whether the person was already at the party or came to the party.

Additional details about the case have not been released yet, but Lowe said three people were injured.

He said one man was shot, another man was struck by a gun and a woman was pistol-whipped.

I think the suspect might have just busted in on the party. That seems the most logical .

This article gives some details about the party and what happened. http://www.nbc12.com/story/24624913...l&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
His teenage son's friend asked if he could bring over a friend and an acquaintance. That acquaintance tried to rob them.

I think the police probably know who it is but are not releasing that information.

Agreed.

What violent, violent, individuals. Pistol whipping a woman, shooting, possibly carjacking and murdering a cop, robbery...

I'm surprised Facial Recognition software hasn't yielded a hit yet. As mentioned above, this is surely not their first rodeo.

They must be really cracked out (or on meth, etc.).

From this link:

"At that point, they didn't know that -- after leaving his mother's house around 10:15 p.m. Friday -- he had never made it to his friend's home some 20 miles away at an apartment complex in Charlottesville.
Authorities subsequently "traced every possible route that he could have taken" between those locations, according to Geller, as part of extensive air and ground searches. But they didn't find him.
They were able to track his Toyota, however, to at least two spots in Virginia. The first such match was late Friday in Fork Union, which is located about 30 miles southeast of Charlottesville. On Saturday -- around when Quick should have been at his brother's party -- the SUV was spotted about 90 miles north of Fork Union in Manassas, in Prince William County."

Search Warrant Reveals New Details in Missing Police Captain Kevin Quick
An affidavit for a search warrant that was filed in Waynesboro Circuit Court says on the day captain quick went missing, he had texted the mother of his child that he was on the way to her residence in Albemarle County. However he never arrived.

After he was reported missing, an emergency phone trace was conducted and that showed that his phone had been turned off since 1:54 on Friday.

The affidavit says three weeks ago, quick was laid off from his job at Invista and was provided with a severance package, however the money he received from that severance has not been located.

The affidavit also says quick had a discover credit card and that card had not been used since Friday at 5:45 p.m.

Shocking how much activity there is out by Nelson. For a scarcely populated area, a lot of people are going missing.

okay, so let me get this straight...between the 2 articles posted, it mentions that his phone was turned off since 1:54pm, on Friday, yet, he didn't leave his mom's until around 10:15pm on Friday? Maybe he didn't want to be disturbed by the phone??
Was he receiving calls perhaps that he didn't want to hear?? Is this unusual??
IMOO.

A lot of people turn their phones off to conserve the battery.Calls will still go their voicemail.

I think KWQ was carjacked by meth gang members...

But as a second theory, the Invista company had laid him off and given him a severance. I imagine it would have been a check. The article mentioned that the severance has not been accounted for. Can the accounting staff of Invista find out if the check was cashed? Have the State Police tried to find out if he deposited the money in his bank? As far as a motive, I am afraid that angle should be explored.

...And all the meth dealers should be rounded up and questioned.

Meanwhile, Chaplain says the person he encountered isn't the one state police have released a photo of to the public. The man in the photograph is one of two people police hope to speak with.

"But I remember the police saying something about the one who was here is possibly connected to the suspect in the photograph," said Chaplain.
