I can't see the DA going for anything less.
As far as the defense...
To avoid this outcome I think Sam's attorney needs nothing less than a Perry Mason style defense...he needs to find the "real" murderer and show Sam was set up.
Or maybe he'll try to show some form of diminished capacity or that Sam was a pawn in a Manson-esque cult as one blogger suggested.
I can't see this attorney trying the demonic possession defense as much as that would amuse me.
Otherwise I don't see how Sam gets only 10-20 years as he wrote in that letter.
Maybe his attorney meant 10-20 for each murder? I'd be interested to hear what the lawyers in the house think about a plea bargain for a minimum of 40 years to take the death penalty out of the equation.
You call that a troll? That's not a troll...THIS is a troll:
(Yes that is a Crocodile Dundee reference)
Mistakes???
A mistake is writing 2009 on your check instead of 2010. Premeditatedly killing four people is not simply a "mistake".
I'd wager that you can at least get better weed in Sick's apartment than in F'ville.
Indeed that is a very nice troll, up there in Seattle. I've held court with that particular troll myself. Is that you DM? Pretty cool story about how that came about. For those who haven't been there the VW bug in his left hand is an actual, real, VW bug.
Well, not simply. More like a BIG mistake. I'm just guessing but, in hindsight, Sam probably would agree it was a bad idea. Probably wishes maybe he hadn't done it.
I agree with Pax that most of us are capable of murder. I am pretty certain I myself could do it in self defense. This example, of course, is in stark contrast to a senseless mass bludgeoning of innocent people but it still would be murder nonetheless. It would be brutal, violent, and bloody.
We've all done things we later wish we hadn't. There's not much point to dwelling on it.
However that doesn't mean someone can simply escape the consequences of their actions. That's just karma, cause and effect, and it's a *****.
I rest my case.
PS Good to hear from the Blou Man...
...I agree...I agree with karma and consequences but I definetely also agree that we are all capable to "snap"...and not just because of self defense...that's exactly what I'm interested in and what keeps me addicted to these threads...at one point all of the people that snapped were just like you and me and you and you ....i completely believe we're all capable and I'm interested in how and when we could "snap" and how to prevent it...
oh no!!!! I just noticed trolls almost look like chi-a pets !
